I’ll preface this review by stating that I wasn’t in great shape to start with, just so people know that ANYONE can do this. I know this is a bit long but I want to tell you about my journey. In July 2016, I began experiencing severe pain in my right hip and knee that I just couldn’t put off anymore so I came to Randolph Pain Relief and Wellness Center. Dr. Curtis took x-rays and diagnosed me with osteoarthritis of the right hip. I was against having a hip replacement at the time because a family member had a total hip arthroplasty and wound up in a wheelchair. That was not going to be me. I figured I would give physical therapy a try before I decided on surgery. I did PT for several months, but while I had improved some, I still was not where I wanted to be. I went for a surgery consult and the surgeon was surprised I could walk, much less perform a job that required extensive walking. It was at this point that I ceased going for PT but took my therapist’s advice to continue with the exercise regimen I had been doing and to save the PT for after surgery since my insurance only authorizes a specific number of sessions per year. I continued the exercises for four months, added exercises recommended by my surgeon and hospital pre-admission even though the pain had gotten so bad it took twice as long to do them and they had become very difficult. I had my surgery and got up and walking in record time and out of the hospital in under 36 hours. On that first walk up and down a hospital hallway felt to me the same accomplishment as running and finishing a marathon. After the first home PT visit, the therapist determined that I would only need two weekly visits and not the usual three. To just do the exercises she gave me and nothing else. To not do the bed exercises without her. In one week, I went from the walker back to the cane and in another week, I went back to see my surgeon and he told me that I didn’t even need the cane. While I wanted to come back to Randolph Pain Relief, the hospital recommended someplace else so I went with their recommendation. I got there and on the first day they assessed me. The therapist asked me to lay on my back, bend my left leg and lift my right leg. Up it went without any difficulty and way past the 90-degree restriction. (OK I was only concerned with getting my leg up and had forgotten about the restriction) This was my hardest exercise while I was going to Randolph Pain Relief and here I was doing it without any difficulty. The therapist told me that most people achieve this 2-3 months out, not on day one. Even more motivated, I went to PT three times a week and did their recommended exercises on days when I did not have PT. After four weeks, I went back to my surgeon for a check-up and all restrictions were removed. I asked if I could continue PT for help with balance, gait and endurance. I finished last week. In the interim, I came back into Randolph Pain Relief to personally thank Dr. Curtis and everyone who helped me. Had it not been for their foundation exercises I would not be where I am today. At the beginning of out-patient therapy, my physical abilities graded at 30%. I was graded at 95% after 24 visits. I can walk up and down the hill at CCM but my only difficulty is putting on my right shoe. I’ll take it. All I can say is if anyone is thinking any joint surgery is the end of the world, go to Randolph Pain Relief if only for a few visits to get a good foundation or pre-surgical exercises. It works! If you want proof, I’ll be happy to show you my scar and skip for you.

I highly recommend Pain Relief & Wellness Center. I had terrible back pain caused by a bulging disk & remembered going to Dr. Simon in the past so I decided to go back. First I want everyone to know that due to the unbelievable amount of pain I was in, I called every acupuncturist in Morris County. I finally got an immediate appointment with someone, NOT AT PR&WC, I knew nothing about this person nor ever had acupuncture done, but I was desperate. Not only was the pain worse but during the acupuncture session it felt like a bolt of lightning going thru my entire body! That’s when I called Dr. Simon in hope that he could help. He listened carefully to my problem, before deciding if I would benefit from Chiropractic care he called to get my MRI report. He said adjusting would not be a wise move however he immediately set me up with Physical Therapy. He also suggested acupuncture from the Acupuncturist at their office. After hesitation, I decided to give it one more try. I made an appointment with Lara, the Acupuncturist. OMG that was the best thing I could have done. Her method was not painful and the results have been unbelievable. I can sit, stand, walk, bend, and sleep without being woken by pain and back to doing my normal daily activities PAIN FREE! Best of all it only took one treatment ease the pain, I still go to Lara and now swear by acupuncture. Everyone at PR&WC is so friendly and nice. Great place, all under one roof for PT, Chiro, Acupuncture and even to see a Neuro, Ortho doctor. Thank you so much to Dr. Simon, Lara and all the staff for getting me better, pain free!

The residents at Carriage Club, a 55 + community in Mount Arlington, loved the “Movement is Medicine” workshop hosted by Randolph Pain Relief and Wellness Center. Dr. Marcie Arlinsky, a chiropractor at the center gave the one-hour talk to about 15 of our residents in the Carriage Club community room. The atmosphere was relaxed yet interactive and the attendees were completely engaged. There was a little apprehension among the residents about doing the various exercises but they turned out to be totally doable and not at all difficult! Everything the doctor demonstrated was spelled out in the materials that were handed out. The residents even received exercise bands to take with them! The tips that Dr. Arlinsky gave were very realistic, useful and nothing that would cost money. The suggestions were new… not the same old stuff that everyone has heard a million times. Dr. Arlinsky was approachable and really seemed to understand the challenges that people face as they get older. We are very excited to have Randolph Pain Relief and Wellness Center back in September for another talk on healthy bones and osteoporosis.

I have so much gratitude to the staff of Randolph Pain Relief & Wellness Center because they made coming during difficult and pain filled times a pleasant experience. From the front desk and to all the doctors and staff they always show kindness and respect to all their patients. I have been a patient for almost 5 years now, and they have seen me go through 2 car accidents and numerous surgeries. I appreciate having so many specialties in one location, because it can be an overwhelming situation when facing health issues. I have had nothing but a positive experience every time I visit. They are always attentive to my needs and work very hard to help me feel better. They offer a great range of services and classes as well. They have very flexible hours which are a great convenience so you don’t have to wait 3 weeks to see a doctor and feel better. Lastly, they are all so willing to find a way to fit you in any time you need them. I strongly recommend Randolph Pain Relief & Wellness Center to anyone looking for a strong, dedicated staff of doctors to help you in your journey to feeling better.
