I saw Dr. Shapiro two times before finding another doctor. As the other reviewers have mentioned, her front desk staff is simply atrocious. After my first appointment, the staff was supposed to follow up on getting me a sleep apnea machine. I called the office no less than six times over the following month, and now, seven weeks after that first appointment, I still havent heard back from them. At my second follow-up appointment, Dr. Shapiro ordered an MRI and the staff, once again, was supposed to call my insurance company to find out where I could go to get an open MRI. That appointment was two weeks ago. I called today, having not heard anything about the MRI or the sleep apnea machine to find out what was going on, and someone who sounded like a high school kid working in the office over the summer answered the phone. He said, "whats your name?" and then "Ill have Sonta call you back when shes not busy". I then asked him, "would you like my telephone number?" Needless to say, I just made an appointment to start seeing another doctor. Dealing with the front desk people will raise your blood pressure.

Dr. Shapiro is competent and professional. She has excellent "bedside" manner, very personable and compassionate with patients. She is thorough in her consultations, reviews and explains medical reports, does not overly medicate and answers patients questions with respect. Dr. Shapiro can be deserving of 5 Stars, however her decision not to instill the same respect, compassion and urgency into her front desk staff is not acceptable. In my experience, there is very long lag time between Dr Shapiros prescriptions, to the time they are actually called into the pharmacy, this also includes authorization submittals. I have had to call several times to remind the front desk staff about my prescription/authorization to always hear some excuse. Whats to point of going to see your doctor if follow up is below competence. Dr. Shapiro is a good doctor, but if staff does not work up to her level of competence then it puts her below par. Unfortunately.

No issues with the doctor but the main administrative assistant is rude and careless. She made a mistake and sent my blood test to the wrong lab out of network so now I have to pay $300 out of my pocket for something that could have been covered 100% in-network by my insurance. Instead of apologizing she lashed back at me.
