Grotesque Negligence. The fees and prices charged at this veterinary clinic are by far the highest Ive seen at any animal clinic I have been to before. Ive been bringing my two cats there for approximately a year now, and though the care theyve received has always bordered on nearly adequate my latest experience with them turned into a complete nightmare. My 7 month old kitten was suffering from a severe eye ulcer that was only becoming worse over the course of 3 weeks of treatment. Though he showed signs of feline herpes and came from a shelter that had a feline herpes outbreak when I adopted him, Dr. Mitchell failed to diagnose him with a herpes induced ulcer and despite the ineffectiveness of the treatment she prescribed insisted on continuing it until the ulcer reached a point that his eye nearly ruptured. One $2500 emergency surgery later, at the Metropolitan Animal Hospital, barely managed to save my kittens eye. We both now have many months of more vet bills and future procedures to look forward to thanks to Rainbow Vet Clinics failure to make a simple diagnosis that could have resolved this very serious problem with a few weeks of anti-viral medicines. Ive since learned that feline herpes induced eye problems is such a common affliction among kittens, especially those from rescue shelters, that the fact that a "trained" veterinarian dropped the ball in a situation like this truly boggles the mind and can only be described as malpractice. Needless to say I am done here. Only take your pets to Rainbow Veterinary Clinic if you have excessive money you want to get rid of and dont care about your animal companions well being.

I was recommended to Rainbow by a few people who I know from around the Heights. I grew up here and wanted to support a local vet. The first time we called, we spoke to someone who told us that there was a lot of availability during Monday and Tuesday and that we could do a walk in visit with our new pup. We called on Monday to let them know we were coming in, the lady told us that there was no availability and that we had to wait until NEXT Tuesday for our puppies check-up. Like I said heard great things, so we set an appointment. On the day of the appointment, I was stressed (as new puppy owners often are) and had to be late to my appointment by 10 minutes. I called to let them know, they said ok. 2 minutes later I get a call back saying they had to cancel, and theres no availability until FRIDAY. I understand people have to run a business, and late customers are never wanted, but this is absolutely no way to treat a potential new customer/long-time community member. I wouldnt have written this if it werent for me saying "looks like I have to find a new vet" on the phone, and the lady just saying "ok". I just feel that a vet not only should give an animal great care, but they should also be supportive of new pet owners.

I cant say enough wonderful things about the staff at Rainbow Vet. The assistants, especially Diane and Brandon, are knowledgeable, patient, and take the time to explain my pets care needs. All of the assistants are gentle and affectionate to my cat and dog: exactly what they need during a stressful vet visit. Dr. Alcorn always takes her time to complete a thorough physical exam, and I never feel rushed during our appointments. I appreciate that she focuses strongly on preventative care and includes diagnostic screenings for common illnesses in annual exams. She was also very kind and empathetic when delivering palliative care to my previous cat who passed away from cancer. In the past year, Ive had two surgeries performed here (spay surgery for my cat, oral surgery for my dog) and I was very impressed by the clear, detailed estimates given for both procedures in advance. Thank you Rainbow Vet for keeping my little fur balls happy and healthy!

If I could give ZERO stars I would. This place will rob you blind!!! They are ALL about the almighty dollar! My dog, according to them, had pancreatitis. I had heard from a friend that they routinely diagnose pancreatitis. Sure is a lot of that going around!!!! A physical exam blood work and a few pills cost me $450!!! I would pay anything for my dogs health but there is expensive and there is overpriced. I wasnt happy with their care of my dog. Three girls need to hold down a dossile chihuahua (and I mean a very sweet mellow dog) to draw blood???? It took them 20 minutes to do it too! I wouldnt recommend these people to my worst enemy!!! Oh and I love how you have to order your meds through them! You should be able to get your prescription and order from wherever you want! This practice is horrible!!!!!

Dr. Mitchell adopted a proactive approach to preventing my dogs recurring bladder stones. My former vet just changed her food to prescription and told me that its a recurring problem in some dogs. Treating my dog with potassium citrate and extra fluids has kept her healthy. Dr. Akers did surgery on my cat and offered me a solid recommendation that ultimately was the best decision because of an underlying disease. Both docs are extremely compassionate. I would trust either one with my dear animal companions.

We have gone to 2 vets in the area and about 5 in total, and this is an outstanding veterinary hospital. Charlie, our patterdale terrier, gets treated like a celebrity as do we. Prices are fair and honest, the staff is extremely friendly, and they have late hours on Thursdays until 8 pm. They even go out of their way to give Charlie an appoinment when there are fewer other animals around because he can be quite a monster. Our vet is Dr. Alcorn, but I hear great things about Dr. Mitchell as well.

Extremely knowledgeable and compassionate staff, even the assistants were able to offer great advice. Fair pricing of services and they quoted me before they did anything. Taking any pet to a vet is stressful for the animal and owner but they made me and my cat feel good about coming to them. Would definitely recommend.

40 YEARS OF HAVING DOGS AND CATS HAS GIVEN ME A KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT MAKES A VET HOSPITAL GREAT OR NOT. RAINBOW IS ONE OF THE BEST, NOT ONLY IN THE TREATMENTS OF MY FURRY BABIES, BUT ALSO THEIR COMPASSION FOR ME AS THEIR "MOM". ALSO, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR AND I BELIEVE THEIR PRICNG IS FAIR.

Ive lived in several cities and have been to several different veterinarians, and I assure you Rainbow Vet is the best. Dr. Mitchell and her team are so friendly and warm and give the very best animal care. Weve since moved away and have yet to find a Vet that we are happy with.

Kind and friendly service. They fit me in next day for my beagle and took great care of her. Provided her with the vaccines she needed and did not try and up-sell me on auxiliary vaccinations that are not absolutely necessary. Will continue to go back!

Its a 30 minute drive for me, but thats a small price to pay for getting my dog the level of care they provide. Couldnt recommend them more.

Compassionate care at a reasonable price given by the most caring veterinarians one could ask for. They have a fine sense of humor, too.
