I changed dentist to Aspen dental for me and my sons. It was time for their semi-annual cleaning and checkup. I specifically put on paperwork cleaning needed. My sons went in and came out so quickly the lady checking them out says they need their all set they just need their wisdom teeth pulled. They are 16 and 17. I never heard of wisdom teeth needing to be pulled so early. Then she hands me a paper indicating my portion of the bill over $1k each kid with insurance for something they dont even need. She then said they have payment plan had me sign paper. I signed regretfully she didnt explain that the paper was authorizing credit to be pulled. Credit and payment arrangement are two different things. It wasnt until I received the alert that my credit was pulled that I was aware that it was credit option. I then looked at paper she gave me and in small wording it has verbiage indicating authorizing credit check. So I said to my boys when we was leaving normally the dentist give you a tooth brush and stuff when you get cleaning. They then told me they didnt get cleaning. So I went back in and asked for print out of procedures completed. I work for insurance company I wanted to ensure they was not trying to rip my employer off. I then said to the lady at the desk my boys didnt get cleaning and she then explains they dont do cleaning in first visit. Never heard of such a thing. They should have been trying to set appt for cleaning on next appt instead of trying to pull their teeth. This was my first and last time going to Aspen I do not recommend. I was actually asked prior to my appt who I was going to because someone was going to change dentist. Well I wont recommend them to this dentist. I am changing dentist again. Only reason why I changed my long time dentist is because hours no longer convenient. With all the competition its vital that providers provide superb service to consumers because someone else will. That superb service presents a competitive advantage.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I had an appointment with Aspen Dental August 4, 2011 and I was appalled with the service I received. I had chipped a tooth and needed it fixed asap. First, I had about 10 x-rays done. I have never had that many done at one time. It is my understanding that if the x-rays are done properly, only 4 are needed to get an accurate view of person’s mouth. Second, the patient chair was dirty and I stuck to the service. Third, it seemed as though Aspen Dental markets toward an older population with dentures so I did not feel as though they would have experience fixing chipped teeth. Fourth, the doctor took about 15 minutes to examine my mouth and tell me that it was completely healthy. I already knew this; I go to the dentist regularly and am a stickler about flossing. I had braces as a young adult; I am very lucky for my teeth and smile. Fifth, the doctor asked if I wanted a Veneer, and if I did they didn’t do those there. (What I heard from a customer views was that he didn’t want to help me and didn’t want my business.) I said no, because that won’t be covered by insurance, I wanted a composite. Sixth, the doctor says that my teeth are too white. (From a customer point of view, I heard that he did not want to help with my problem for a second time.) I was bewildered because I do not whiten my teeth and I drink coffee religiously and occasionally have a cigarette. I began to question him and he said that I don’t know what the office has in stock so how would I know if they could match my tooth color. I was completely caught off guard with the dentist’s comment and tone with a paying customer. Seventh, the only saving grace was their office manager who was patient and kind. Eight, I decided not to go to Aspen Dental and went to Bay Dental in Bay Village, near Cleveland. The service was great! Do not go to Aspen Dental in Lancaster.

First appointment could not have gone better. The staff is incredibly kind, patient and caring. From the moment you walk in, they make you feel like theyve known you forever. Comfortable. They actually talk to you, there is no feeling of being judged about your current dental issues or uncomfortable silence. Often times at any office, you have long waits in the waiting room, then a long wait in the chair, then the Dr rushes in and out, so quickly, that if you do have questions, you cant ask them. That is NOT the case here. Dr Que sat right beside me, explained everything in detail, answered my questions, even answered a few that I hadnt even thought of. He even found something that the last three dentists have missed. The girl out front that went over my costs was so kind. She took her time, made sure I knew the exact cost and what I was paying for, and what to expect. I have a few more appointments coming up, so if anything changes, Ill be sure to update, but I cant see anything changing. They are great. UPDATE: Today was extraction day... 7 total. Things could not have gone more smoothly! Honestly. Im 10 hours post, and in NO PAIN!!! it took less than 45 minutes from the time I walked in the door, until the time I was walking out. Not one time did I feel uncomfortable, rushed, or uneasy. If I could give them 100 starts I would. Dr Que and Autum are just the best!!!

When I called to make an appt I explained to the girl exactly why I was needing to see a dentist. I explained that I had a filling fall out and that I used a temporary filling (Dentemp) and I was having an allergic reaction to it. That I was taking Benadryl to keep the swelling down. She made me an appt in Lancaster instead of Chillicothe because I could get in to see a dentist sooner if I went to Lancaster. I drove and hour and fifteen minutes to go to this appt. I waited an hour to see the dentist. (5pm to 6pm) The dentist looked in my mouth told me what I already knew and that I would have to make an appt to have it fixed. I explained to him about the allergic reaction to the Dentemp and he was uncaring. I asked your not going to fix my tooth? He said "No, we are closing" I stated I thought you were going to fix my tooth and he said no your only here for an evaluation.... My question is, why would I drive two and a half hours round trip and not at least remove the temporary filling that I was having an allergic reaction to and put a different temporary filling in until I could get it fixed.... Seriously disappointed. I would make that trip for a good dentist, but never again will I... Now I am not even sure my insurance will pay for X-rays when I do see a dentist who cares about their patients and not out to take their money. Im very disappointed with them!!!!

So far, so good. I know using a chain to visit a dentist can be dicey, but I had a decent experience of my own at the Pickerington Aspen branch. We live in Pick, but my youngest goes to a special needs school in Lancaster for kids with Autism (Haugland Learning Center-also awesome, by the way). Since the drive to school takes 30 minutes, I wanted a dentist near his school so he wouldnt have to miss a half day of school just to get his 6 month checkup. We just went last week for his second well check. Hygienist was understanding of his fears and quirks the best she could be and worked quickly so itd all be over ASAP for my son. Dentist was male, but I dont remember his name or the hygenists because Im terrible with names. Sorry. Both visits ended with good reports and no cavities, so I was happy that they didnt try to push any unnecessary procedures or products on us as other dental practices have in the past. Will continue to use them for routine care as long as he attends school down in Lancaster. As my hubby would say, you cant hate happy teeth. Thanks, Aspen Lancaster
