Called today to request 1 dose of oral flea medication (Comfortis) and was told by receptionist they would have it ready for me to pickup in the afternoon. Went to pickup and was told since I had not had a full price paid visit since late 2015 they would not dispense the 19 dollar single dose. Look I get it from a risk perspective if this is your policy in situations like prescribing a strong medication such as antibiotics without a recent checkup but cmon Sheffield this is a low-risk common remedy for fleas. Given our dog is a "special needs" bulldog who since 2015 has been regularly seen at Central Ohios best vet for bulldogs (Beechwold in Columbus) I would have hoped my simple request today could have been worked out by calling them to ensure his medical status as being current. Bottom line sad that my home community vet who I have given business in the past wouldnt provide what I needed and wasted my time to boot by not advising me of their policy on the phone vs what I was told making a physical trip to their office. I see todays scenario, not as risk aversion to my pet but a maximization of profit and poor customer service. Local pet owners beware if you want to get simple ad-hoc services & have not paid the annual tithe.

Choosing a veterinarian for your best furry friend is not easy, but my experience with Sheffield Veterinary Hospital has been very positive. The entire staff is very knowledgeable and caring. Vets and staff are very friendly and the hospital itself is clean, bright, and well-lighted. You have the option to choose the vet you see each time, but my dog Trixi and I have actually seen several vets at Sheffield and we have been impressed with all of them. Dr. Craig Marshall recently did some surgery on Trixi. She needed a tumor on her leg removed, but it was in a very tricky spot because it was in a joint area that requires a lot of movement and bears a lot of stress during normal movement. Stitches in that area often don’t hold. And of course…don’t tell Trixi but she is considered a senior dog which can complicate any surgery. Dr. Marshall explained all the options to me and all the risks before the surgery. He kept me informed during the surgery. Best of all the result was very positive. The surgical site healed well and the fur even grew back so you can’t even tell. Trixi has full use of her leg. Thanks Dr. Marshall and all the Sheffield staff who helped make Trixi’s surgery successful.

Being a veterinary professional myself I am especially impressed with Sheffield. Ive chosen them as my rDVM for good reason, Ive only had extremely positive experiences with them. I take both of our dogs there, and have seen Dr. Marshall and Dr. Eades, both of which are extremely nice, easy-going, and make me feel welcome in the exam room. The entire staff is warm and inviting, as is the lobby and exam rooms themselves. 5/5, definitely recommend!!

A dear friend recommended Sheffied a few years ago when a kitten showed up at our house with a mangled back leg. The doctors and staff saved his life, so when he had a fever and sneezing, we didnt hesitate to take Lucky back to them. The doctor was wonderful and the staff was great. I would recommend the clinic to anyone wanting to give their pets the very best care.
