Update, 2016: I would also heartily endorse Dr. Ben Shields for any animal treatment, including rodents. He was as gentle and knowledgeable with my pet rat as his father has always been. This continues to be a wonderful animal hospital and a place to trust. Dr. Jeff Shields has been my vet for over seven [as of the update, over 15] years. Hes knowledgeable about current developments in animal medicine (even for small animals) and very gentle and kind to the pets he sees. I keep pet rats, and he is always just as concerned for their welfare as he would be for a cat or dog. In my experience, Dr. Shields always shares full information about your pets health situation with you, does not condescend (or mince words!), and truly does whats best for the pet--no over- or under-treating. The new hospital at Cross Creeks is clean and well-appointed. The staff is also knowledgeable and very hands-on with the pets, and exhibited courtesy and enthusiasm for their work.

I will never take my pets anywhere else. I have seen both Dr. Jeff Shields and Dr. Ben Shields and they are both amazing. We have had several pets with them but one experience will always stick out to me. The staff was so caring and compassionate when I had to put one of my rats down. Immediately when I walked in they had a room ready for me so I didnt have to sit in the waiting area and I didnt feel rushed out when it was over. I was able to sit in the room and collect myself before leaving. They never bothered me about paying right then and there, they just sent me the bill later so I didnt have to worry about it that day. They have a staff that is a notch above the rest. Love this place!

Ive been taking my furkids here for years and if anyone ever asks for a veterinary recommendation. I always suggest Dr. Ben Shields. I have had experience in the past with vets that manhandle animals and dont treat them in a way I want my animals treated and I am happy to report I will never have to experience that again. Dr. Ben is very patient focused and understands animal behavior and handles animals gently and in a way that causes the least amount of stress to them (because we know a vet visit is always stressful to our furkids) I know my kids are in good hands with Dr. Ben and the friendly and caring staff of Cross Creeks Animal Hospital. Thank you all for all that again you do.

I have been with Dr. Jeff for over 30 years and he has always been professional and helpful with all of my dogs. I feel he gives 100% to making sure your pet gets the best treatment. He doesnt talk at you, he talks to you about the best treatments for you pet. He treated one of my dogs who had cancer and took the time to be honest and helpful every step of the way. He is very compassionate in everything he does. Now Ben has joined the practice is has the same traits. I would highly recommend his practice to anyone. His staff is great too. Always happy and helpful even in tough times. This is by far, the best practice in the area.

The entire staff is amazing. My dog is my baby and I feel comfortable taking him there. They always answer questions and always think of the animal first. They dont think of the money they are making. I had another dog who got really ill, and sadly I had to put her down but this office was so amazing during the entire process, they gave me as much time as I needed and they did everything they could to save her. I cant thank this office enough for taking care of both of my babies. I will never go to any other vet. I love this place!

I also cannot say enough about how kind both of the Doctors and their staff are. They are one of the few places in Columbus where my dog, cats, and rats can be seen. My animals have been there for well visits, sick visits, and to be put to sleep, and everytime they are kind. I still choose to make the half hour drive to see them when there are other closer vets because the way my family is taken care of is what matters to me.

Ive been going to Cross Creeks for over 12 years, and Dr. Shields is EXCELLENT. He made our experience putting our sweet dog down bearable and treated her with the utmost respect. His advice was always in the best interest of our dog, not his pocketbook and for that I forever thank him.
