After a previous review made about this vet, the doctor pulled me into a back room to discuss the review. He was very upset about my honest review. He wasnt willing to fulfil his obligations. Which was to offer a sample of a medication to see if it worked for my dog. He refused to provide said medication, but seemed very upset about the money that was discounted to me, because one amount was offered, but another amount was requested. My reveiw included 3 experiences similar to the ones posted. Instead of trying to rectify the situation and be supportive that a customer was upset, which if he had done I wouldve been more than happy to post about how the situation how been resovled and I was pleased with the result. But I think my appearance was a problem. My discounts were a problem. My review was a problem. I think they see a young woman being hateful and trying to receive compensation for it. That is not the case. I wanted all to be aware of the risk being taken when going to this facility. I cannot wait until I become a doctor, because its not about profits and big screen TVs in the lobby. Its about the care for defenseless animals and the families willing to love and provide for them, but may not be able to afford hundreds of dollars in vet bills just to treat for something minor as a flea allergy. My dog is treated orally with comfortis. But even one flea bite and shes covered in hives. I have tried many home remedies to help her but nothing really works like a quick trip to a vet for a steriod shot and a month of flea medication to get things under control (orally of course, she has a sensitivity to topical). And year round she gets bathed in a soap free shampoo, with oatmeal and I have used for years, a splash of vinegar in the water to help keep the fleas away. When this vet saw my Mothers cat as well, they moved in with us recently, she had a large flea problem. Putting my dog at risk. I then figured I would take them both in to be seen, praying it was someone that cared. But they did not. Have not. Will not. This is an honest review regarding my experience with this vet. Not to be spiteful as it was clear that the doctor I saw was passionate, but for the wrong cause.

I moved to the area recently and called to ask about a new flea pill I saw an ad for. I had a few questions about it, and after I asked my first one the girl said she would have to ask the doctor. After 5-6 minutes on hold she came back to the phone, but as soon as I asked another she said she would have to ask the doctor again. So I said can I just come in and get it, and she said yes I could come and get it anytime. It turns out that it is prescription and I would have wasted my time going in to get it. I only know that because I called another clinic in town and their receptionist was on the ball and knew all about it, and told me I needed an exam for my dog and offered to set one up. I hope the owner of Mt Vernon animal hospital knows the receptionists are the voice and face of their clinic, and my first impression was not that good. If the girl at the other clinic knew the flea medication that well, then they need to be educating their receptionists and not leaving their clients on hold. I plan to look elsewhere for my vet work if I need any.

I took my dog of 9 years here. I knew she wasnt feeling well. I told the vet she had a little bit of mucus coming out of her nose that morning, and that she had been wheezing and breathing heavy lately. He said, and I quote, " her lungs sound perfectly normal". I was sent away with antibiotics for bacteria in her digestive tract; no big deal I was told. It wouldnt have been a big deal if that was the only problem. After 7 days of antibiotics, I had to take her to another vet, where she needed a blood transfusion, and x-rays showed that she had fungal pneumonia. Her lungs were filled with the infection!! (Fungal pneumonia DOES NOT happen over night, it takes time to develop) Despite all attempts to save her life, I lost my best friend of 9 years the next day. If only the Vet at Mt. Vernon Animal Hospital hadnt told me her lungs sound perfectly normal, and I was able to get her the proper care she needed, she might still be alive today.

Well my first experience was calling for an appointment for my sick cat. The phone rang about 10 times before it was answered, then the lady who answered it was rude. She acted like it was a problem for me to bring her in, and said she would have to check with the doctor. Instead of putting me on hold she hung up on me. I called back and she answered and asked why I hung up when I said who I was. What the heck!? I should have taken the hint and gone somewhere else. When I came in I had to wait 45 minutes past my appointment time. Then the doctor acted like she was flustered and didnt want to spend much time looking at Missy. I spent a bunch of money on tests and antibitics and Missy is still sick. I will not be going back there!

we have been getting good services there but the groomer that normally grooms our dogs was out on maternity leave. So who ever did the grooming looks like they rushed it. They cut the beard off and shaved the skirt and you can see clipper lines on her back. The dogs werent ready till 3:30 and we told them we would be there a few minutes after 4 and the lady on the phone was making it real clear they close at 4:00and we had to be there before 4:00 . We showed up 2 minutes after 4 not knowing if we could pick up our dogs. They were still there and we were able to get the dogs. The ladys at the desk need to remember without customers there is no need for employees. They need to work on customer service.

I cannot say enough nice and wonderful things about this place and their staff! They have always answered my questions with compassion, honesty and professionalism. They even answered our pet questions when the doctors should have been enjoying their family time. I am so thankful to have Dr. Rob and Dr. Jess as our veterinarians! Most recently we needed to care of our aging bulldog and make a very tough decision. They have been her doctors for her entire life...7 years! Thank you, Dr. Rob and Dr. Jess for always treating our pets like they are your own and being a friend to me and my husband as our dog passed over the rainbow bridge.

Dr Jessica is extremely smart and well educated on current and best practices when it comes to treatments. I trust when my animals are sick everything that could be done is being done for them. I found them when I had a sick goat. After spending over 400 dollars at two different vets, and ultra sounds with no conclusive diagnosis.. I was on my way to OSU for a third opinion. I called MVA hospital first and spoke with Dr. Rob. He suggested before I bring the goat in to go to the grain store and buy amonium-choride. 69 cents later, my goat was as good as new. Would highly recommend them!
