Nightmare ER visit: My girlfriend had been experiencing severe acute abdominal pain for a few days at that point, and we had already been in two ERs with no diagnosis. We were going to a lab to get a prescribed blood test, when she passed out. When she woke up, she couldnt move a muscle in her body, and barely mumbled to take her to the ER. This hospital was the closest one. Upon arriving, they repeatedly eyed me up, acting as if I was suspected of doing something wrong. They also repeatedly told her to sign paperwork, despite the fact that she couldnt move a muscle. Its like they were trying to test if she was faking it - they tried this several times throughout the ordeal. Meanwhile I was terrified that she was near death. I called her mom (a nurse) who lives 40 minutes away, and explained that they are treating me like a threat, and treating her like shes faking it. They finally decided to give her some strong pain meds and do some basic bloodwork. When her mom arrived, she had to fight with the doctor just to do more advanced bloodwork that would catch various organ problems. They finally agreed. But the bloodwork came back fine. You would think at this point they would admit her to the hospital - paralyzed, no diagnosis, and 3rd ER visit in as many days. Instead they put her in a wheelchair and wheeled her out to my car. That was the extent of their interest in her case. I decided I was finished with ERs, and took her ASAP to an urgent care clinic, where the doctor was shocked that the hospital didnt admit her. He believed that it was a GI problem, and referred me to a gastro doctor, who did a colonoscopy and found that she had the "worst" splenic flexure case he "had ever seen in 30 years". He said it was "a textbook example". The paralysis was apparently due to extreme pain from pressure build-up in the splenic flexure. Apparently the Akron General doctor needs to re-read her textbooks, and stop running her house like shes on Law and Order: SVU.

I was fighting a UTI and suddenly got sharp pains in my lower left abdomen along with a fever. Went to this ER, told the nurse who was checking me in exactly whats going, then waited 2.5 hours to get a room. Once in the room, I waited another 2 hours for another nurse to take my vitals, urine sample, and blood. Then waited another 40 mins to speak to a doctor who told me all tests were normal and she didnt know what was wrong with me. From just before 5pm until 11pm I sat and waited and waited and waited for no answers, cure, and/or relief. Ive always had excellent care at all Cleveland Clinic facilities, so when I saw that the building bared the name, I didnt hesitate to choose this ER, but I failed to take into consideration that below the Cleveland Clinic name it still said Akron General, who by the way is aweful! After a week of going to the different doctors and having some tests done, they found I have a cyst on my ovary. Nice job ER.

It was terrible. We had an experience similar to what Brian in another review described. I had severe abdominal pain so bad that I had no sleep in 4 days even with Vicoden for pain. At Akron General they get you in and out of there as fast as possible and are not concerned with making a diagnosis. The doctor MD Kate Lyren-Sondles stood as far away in the room as possible with her arms folded and suggested that I had a mental health issue rather than a physical problem causing abdominal pain. I guessed that my problem was severe gastritis and have managed to control it with OTC meds. and those ordered by a GI doctor until I can get follow up treatment from the GI doctor.

Excellent urgent care, especially at night. I work at a group home and have been at AG several times with clients for various problems. Always an empty waiting room, super fast service and caring staff. All tests are available so no extra trips somewhere else. A+++++

Not ever wanting to end up in the ER, this was the best experience Ive ever had. No waiting, I was taken straight from triage to a room. The staff was kind and attentive. The Dr came in immediately and was as nice as could be. Definitely recommend this ER.

Horrible experience! Absolutely appallingly rude staff, the nurses and the doctor I saw were incredibly unprofessional! They clearly do not care at all about patient care or satisfaction. I have never been to such a horrible ER.

Ive been waiting 2 hours just to get blood work done. This is absolutely ridiculous, I do not have all day to sit around to get blood work done. & I have a 2 year old who is very restless. So upset

I went to the ER here for a concussion and it was a speedy trip filled with pleasant doctors. Better than any trip Ive had to Western Reserve

The Wellness Center is very nice, but I would not recommend the ER, especially for labor and & delivery.
