I felt I needed to post this review to warn others of the practices of this office. Let me start out by saying I hadnt been to a dentist in many years as my previous long time dentist had retired. Because of this, I needed a number of things done to "catch up" on my dental care. I went in for an initial exam with Dr Blacks office including full X-rays resulting in suggestions of items that needed done and a line item list of costs. Sure, I hadnt been to a dentist in quite some time, but the numbers seemed quite high. Also, the services needed warranted a second opinion anyway as I wasnt so sure about them. I just felt funny as a result of the visit... I then inquired some more at many other offices and found out that Dr Blacks rates were consistently between ***** 40% and 120% HIGHER *****!!!! After a few more calls I was told that there is a "Oregon standard pricing" that about 90% of Dentists in the state follow or use as a guide. Dr Blacks office is NOT ONE OF THEM! In addition to this, they have some kind of proprietary "insurance" they offer that is only good in their office????? Hhmmmmm, you have to wonder about that one? I also had some services on that list that another dentist could not justify or even see why he was going to work on a particular tooth. I feel that Dr Blacks exam and suggestions were rushed and "sold". Summary; this office is not a "bad" office if you have really good insurance which few do anymore... AND you only need basic services that dont warrant second opinions. As others have said, they have a very modern office with all the latest stuff, but the cost is over the top if you compare to other dental providers. 1.4 to 2.2 times over the average cost is NOT a FAIR practice. I was being "sold" on the questionable "payment plan - proprietary ins" thing. I was seriously overcharged for my X-rays and exam. I was sold on services I didnt need. I will never go back to this office!

After a broken tooth, a root canal, and another break, my dentist felt he couldnt save my tooth. He suggested an implant. A friend recommended I send the x-rays to Dr. Black for a 2nd opinion, who thought he could save the tooth. So, I drove a few hours to Timberhill Dental and met with Dr. Black and Tina. In about 3 hours, they prepared my tooth, made the crown, repaired 3 additional areas of decay with fillings, and cemented the crown into my mouth. NO FURTHER VISITS necessary. All in ONE SHOT! Theyve got a cool machine that mills the crown from a block of porcelain and a kiln that hardens it on site. Easy peasy. I now have a new "tooth" that feels and behaves like the real thing. Dr. Black tells me that it wont last forever, Im not yet 50 after all, but Im thrilled to be using as much of my "original parts" as possible! I was given a clear understanding of the pain I could expect both during and after the procedure. But, honestly, theres been very little pain. The rest of the experience was great. The office is very comfortable and classy. The mirror in the bathroom even told me I looked "fantastic". Seriously. Dr. Blacks assistant/partner Tina was fantastic. Theyve clearly worked together a long time and communicate well with each other. Tina even understood what I tried to say with a mouth full of instruments. She also made sure I was comfortable with a cozy blanket over my lap, an extra adjustment of the head rest, etc. They also clearly stay up on the latest and greatest in dental care. When I was in the office, I overheard them explain the cool crown-making machine to another dentist who was visiting. Theyve clearly gone above and beyond when it comes to understanding and using their equipment. Five Stars, you bet!!!

Every visit I have had at Dr. Kurt Blacks office - Timberhill Dental, has been excellent. I always leave feeling surprised that the visit goes so well and that the staff make me smile so much! I usually make my appointments first thing in the morning and my wait is almost nothing once I arrive. I am greeted with smiles and warm wishes. My dental hygienist Anne, is wonderful, with great conversation, skill and quality care. She is like an old friend who you just pick up the conversation with after 6 months apart. She remembers that I need the Glide floss and is always looking out for me. Dr. Black is thorough and a real expert. I can tell he cares for each patient individually. When my appointment is over, I am scheduled for my next cleaning with no hassle at all. What an expert, efficient and friendly office! I think it would be great to work at this office! Also, one time we had snow and ice and my hygienist couldnt make it in due to the roads. But they were able to accommodate my appointment easily with another hygienist and it worked out just great. I would highly recommend Timberhill Dental for their expert, quality and caring work. Also, you can have a paraffin hand dip while you have your teeth cleaned. Whats better than that? Aurae Beidler

I am in my 60s with life long teeth problems and I have seen my share of dentists and dental offices. I have been with Dr. Black and his amazing team of people for the 11 years I have been in Oregon. Never have I felt so secure with a dental office. Although trips to the dentist are never something I look forward to, everyone in this office helps me feel taken care of welcomed. I appreciate the little "dental spa" additions to the visit like the wax hand dip at the beginning of the visit and the warm face towel at the end of a visit. My questions and concerns are taken care of each visit even if it means a longer than scheduled time, they always take their time and I feel heard and taken care of. There have been emergency type visits and they always fit me in as fast as they can. Although I have not participated in many, I appreciate how they build community with pool parties, tailgaters, raffles, halloween candy buy back, and more. I appreciate how they all travel together once a year, helping people who have no dental care. Overall this office and Dr. Black are the best! They have helped me so much in the last 11 years, I look forward to continuing with them for as long as I can.

Timberhill Dental is a class act. It is actually a pleasure to go for a teeth cleaning. The staff is friendly and helpful, the office is cheerful with big picture windows and Dr Black is knowledgeable and patient. But it is the little touches that add so much to the experience - the hot wax hand dip while getting my teeth cleaned, the luxuious bathroom, the warmly lit halls, the smiles and cheerful conversations. The atmosphere is a cross between a spa and an efficient health facility -- a true healing experience. Dr. Black is not only knowledgable and competent, he is also a bite artist. Whenever I have had a filling or needed other dental work, I have ended up with a bite that was easier and more comfortable than before the work. I have had experiences with past dentists where a filling or crown meant months of discomfort while my mouth ground things into a comfortable spot -- none of that happens with Dr Black. I get work done at Timberhill Dental and my mouth feels great when I leave the office (except for the usual numbness that has to wear off.) I highly recommend Timberhill Dental.
