I wanted to write about my experience with scoliosis and working with Andrea at Excel Physical Therapy in Exton, PA with the hope that my experience can help other people. I have scoliosis and have been in pain for the last 20 years. Over the last 2 years, the pain has become excruciating to the point that I didn’t know how to go on. The pain was taking over my life. I found physical therapy somewhat helpful, but felt that the help was temporary and even caused other problems. I became increasing involved with yoga and found that the pain was minimized while I was in the poses, but I would have more pain afterwards. I have spent a lot of money seeking out medical professionals for advice on how to get out of pain. I tried countless sessions of normal Physical therapy as well as Pilates, and yoga. I even considered surgery. It was by a chance conversation that a relative had with a medical professional that I learned about the Schroth method. I did some research and found that one of a very few Schroth trained physical therapists was less than 20 miles from my home, so I decided to try it. Finding Andrea at Empower Physical Therapy was a Godsend. Andrea is a caring person, supportive, empathetic, understanding and incredibly knowledgeable in the field of scoliosis. She really knows how to help you. For the first time in a very long time I do not have pain in my back. Of course, it is a challenging journey, full of hard work and dedication. I work out in front of a mirror every day where I am forced to confront my spinal deformities. I have an effective daily routing and the only time I am bothered by my back pain is when I skip my exercises. Thanks to Andrea, I can now perform not only daily activities, but activities that I love, but had to give up because of my back pain. I am now swimming, exercising regularly, and ballroom dancing. Pain Free! If someone told me that I could be without back pain before I met Andrea, I never would have believed it. Andrea is amazing. I couldn’t recommend her more highly. I would recommend Andrea and the Schroth method to young and old, anyone who has scoliosis and wants to improve their lives. Empower Physical Therapy itself is a facility in Exton Pa. The facility itself is clean and well equipped for the Schroth method of PT. The staff is very courteous and caring. I highly recommend it.

After a running injury left me in great pain, I was referred to Empower Physical Therapy. I am thankful for the reference, because I am not sure that a traditional physical therapy approach would have been as effective. The therapists at Empower Physical Therapy are both licensed physical therapists and certified manual muscle therapists. I believe that the combination of the therapy types helped me recover much more quickly. I worked with a therapist in the office (receiving manual muscle therapy and practicing exercises) and I was given exercises to do at home between appointments. What I found so helpful was that I learned about the injury (the reason why I was in pain and what I had done to exacerbate the injury) and I learned that I needed to work on strengthening as well as on correct and effective stretching. The therapist even worked with me to alter my stride slightly so that I could get back to running without the pain. The best parts of the experience were the care I received and the tools I was given to take care of myself and my pain going forward. An amazing place!

I found Empower Physical Therapy after seeing another Downingtown PT group. I was having terrific shoulder pain but also had multiple sites of residual pain and weakness as well as postural problems following late diagnosis/treatment of lyme disease. The first PT provider advised me of a few theraband exercises and for my all-over symptoms, told me to swim. I wanted, I needed more. The therapist at Empower is not only a licensed PT but also a certified manual muscle therapist. She did manual release procedures and stretching, strengthening exercises (with homework sheets), postural awareness and training, and self-help instruction. I would not have been able to cope with or manage my chronic pain without the treatment I received and self-help techniques I was taught at Empower. Just the best. We are so fortunate to have Empower in Chester County. This provider is unlike any PT experience you will ever have; you will be well.

I have had issues with pelvic pain after intercourse for almost 20 years. I met with one of the best GYN Dr. Atkins and he said you have a pulled muscle on your right pelvic floor. I was like what and he said you need womens physical therapy then he wrote out an order for Empower. I had one of the best therapist at Empower her name is Gina and was a god send for me. My insurance was not accepted but it was well worth the cash price for it after 20 years of pain. I started treatments and Gina talked to me for almost a hour got to know how I felt from the pain and then I started my treatment. I went twice a month for two months or so and I was pain free. I have done my exercising for my pain in therapy and she gave me homework every night I did it and now I am so much better now.

I went to Empower Physical Therapy for PT from Brain Surgery, and again for knee problems. They had me up and running (literally) in no time at all. 9 months to the date after brain surgery and two years after knee surgery I ran a half marathon in Philadelphia. One month later, I completed a 28 mile ruck march (with a 35 pound pack on my back). Since then I have deployed and participated in several more marches. I came out of all of those events knee pain free. Empower Physical Therapy is top notch. It is going to be hard for you to find Physical Therapists in the area of their caliber.

Rachel Miller carefully evaluated my condition, did a very though evaluation and started me an a therapy plan that literally rendered my a Phoenix and rose me from the ashes. After the first day, she gave me a simple exercise to do during my work day after my initial visit that generated immediate rewards. I was dead to the world with my back problem and she brought me back. I will have to make a commitment to the therapy for the rest of my life, but she has shown me a way to improve my quality of life for the rest of my life.

Rachel Miller was the only therapist that could help me get my body back in shape after the birth of my daughter. She has helped me recover from hip and back pain, and gain the strength to start exercising again on a daily basis. She has a great understanding & knowledge of biomechanics , and good hands on techniques to provide manual therapy. I am even happier that she now provides Pilates Reformer classes for her clients.

Andrea is by far the best person to go to if you need PT. I was having serve back pain during my pregnancy and found her and she fixed me right up! Four months after having a baby, I began having some back pain again (I have herniated dics) and she works with me and gets me back on my toes. She listens to me and explains everything in detail for me. I am so glad I found Empower, i recommend her to everyone.
