I had the same dentist for 15 years in Kansas, and trust me, she was a tough act to follow. I moved my family to Johns Island in June 2016 and after settling in, began looking for a new dentist office. Ive never been one to have major apprehension about dental visits, but much of that is because mine was so amazing. I started looking with word of mouth, google maps and online reviews. The clincher that got me into the Oak Family office was a very positive review by another dentist who goes to them as a patient, and proximity to my home. My first visit was for a routine cleaning, checkup and initiation of new patient care. They were running a bit behind schedule and I had to fight back feelings of annoyance about that. Im a pediatric nurse manager of a huge office and I know when we get behind its because we give excellent personalized care, so I convinced myself that was the case. I was right. Tyler, the dentists wife, was the first one I met and she did my cleaning. Shes friendly and professional and wasnt afraid to scold me a little about my (lack of) flossing habits. When I explained my lifelong difficulty with flossing and having giant hands, she gave me a toothbrush-length flossing tool with replacement heads. Its great! I use it daily now. She also gave me a coupon for a sonicare toothbrush and challenged me to start using it. They are game-changers! If you dont have one, you have to get one! Tyler has changed my life already. After Tyler was done, doc came in and did my exam. Hes talkative and funny and very high energy, and its neat to see the dynamic of a young married couple running a business together. Doc told me that I had a repair needed on one of my molars, so we made that appointment for a few weeks later. On the day of my repair, the office was running on schedule which pleased me. Tyler and I chatted for awhile before another dental assistant brought me back to the procedure room. She was also very polite and professional and she brings her kiddo to my office in West Ashley. Doc came in and did the lidocaine and was very clear and thorough with details about what he was going to do and what he needed from me during the procedure. I never had any discomfort and the repair was made with masterful precision and skill. My bite is perfect and my tongue cannot tell the difference from before the procedure. This is my new dentist office, and Im extremely happy about that!

After years of being uncomfortable with my smile and fear of the dentist, I finally got the courage to make an appointment at Oak Family Dentistry, and I couldnt be happier that I did! Dr Sciarrino and his team are all very friendly, accommodating, and professional; I never once felt uncomfortable in their presence. I went in to my first exam extremely anxious as to what all I would find wrong, and that I would be left feeling ashamed of my poor dental history, but I was happily surprised! Not only did I leave feeling glad that I had taken the right step towards happier teeth and a better smile, but I also left feeling empowered with the treatment plan they put together for me. It was like a weight had literally been lifted off of my shoulders! After my initial visit I went in to start my treatment and had a few fillings put in a typically very sensitive area. Not only was I 100% numb and comfortable for the whole thing, I actually *enjoyed* the experience! I can honestly say that after the first few minutes, my only fear was that I was going to laugh too much at Dr Sciarrino, who was making jokes and made the entire experience very light-hearted, and mess him up! After my visit, I was able to carry on my day as usual. The anesthetic wore off quickly and, while I was a little concerned I might be in pain afterwards, it felt as if nothing had changed--except my teeth look SO much better already! I am actually looking forward to my next appointment! When they treated me so well for my first visit, I brought my 3 year old daughter in as well and she loved it more than the previous pediatric dentist she had seen before! They treated her so well and she got many compliments for her behavior and beautiful teeth--which feels great as a mother! I cant imagine going to another dentist, my family will be going to Oak Family Dentistry for years to come; Ive already recommended recommended them to many friends!

Ive spent a lot of my life in multiple dentist offices (due to bad teeth genes I suppose). When I moved to the area from Kansas last summer, I was pretty bummed that I had to look for a new dental office because mine back home was so great...and its hard to find a good dentist and staff when youre a little fearful in the first place. I did some research online and found Oak Family. I called to set up my first consult and my first impression over the phone was fantastic. Very friendly, clear, concise, and professional. When I went in for my first consultation I was just as impressed with the facility and staff in person as I was on the phone. They took the time to make me feel comfortable and to explain procedures (being a nurse, this is something that I value, it makes all the difference). The staff is very personable, and make you feel valued as a person, not just another patient. I liked them so much that I also referred my husband and he is just as pleased as I am. I feel lucky to have found such a great place so soon and on the first try! I highly recommend Oak Family for your dental needs.

This is by far the best dental office Ive ever experienced. The entire staff is friendly, helpful, encouraging and knowledgable. They provide care as if you were family. They remember you as if you were family. The hygienists are phenomenal and take the time to get every bit of Copenhagen staining off my teeth. (Of course they dont approve and I get a motherly talk every time!) I also appreciate Oak Family Dentistry because Ive never been to any place where it is more obvious that everyone practices what they preach. This is no mechanics shop where every employee drives clunkers or a barber shop where no one cutting hair has a good haircut. Every single person in this office has an absolutely beautiful smile. Seems to be a lot of pride. They always check with my insurance company as well as myself before they undertake anything pricey. The doc is a guy Id hang out with and he will explain anything you have questions about and every process is thorough. All good people. Five out of five for sure.

Being new to the Johns Island area, I viewed the task of searching for a new dentist with much trepidation. But, thankfully, upon the recommendation of another dental professional I was able to find Dr. Sciarrino of Oak Family Dentistry. He is the best! If you are the type of person who wants to know exactly what is going on with your teeth and exactly what the dentist is able to do to correct the problem, then you will be totally pleased with Dr. Sciarrino. He is personable, knowledgeable, and thorough. In addition, his staff is totally committed to their patients and both Tyler and Anna go above and beyond to cover each patients needs and concerns. Dr. Sciarrino is blessed to have such dedicated employees. I am not hesitant in saying that I am totally thrilled to have found this great group of professionals! I
