My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Kerrs for several years, and while her care has been adequate, the staff is terrible and unprofessional. My daughter has had an appointment for several months (had to be rescheduled by the office due to overbooking!) and I was contacted the Friday before a Monday appointment to find out that her referral was expired. Why was I not notified? Notified when I made the appointment? Notified when I was contacted by the office that it had to be rescheduled? Many doctor offices close early on Fridays, not to mention cold and flu season is rampant now. Good luck getting a day of appointment with your PCP. How would anyone be able to get a referral on a Friday afternoon...for a Monday appointment. This is very unprofessional on the part of the office staff for letting this slip thru the cracks. A childs vision isnt anything to be taken lightly. Apparently there is no accountability for the staff, seeing as how when I asked when the referral expired, it was 2 years ago. Therefore making it even longer that they have failed to notify me.

There seems to be failure in getting patients scheduled for their surgery. Most patients have to have a driver following surgery, said driver is most likely a family member or friend who has to also schedule the time off from their employer. The day before surgery is not enough time for people to make their arrangements for the time off. The surgery center staff should take a look at a better process of scheduling surgeries and have patients scheduled appropriately more than 24 hour notice. Its like an assembly line and there are better processes for scheduling surgeries.

My mother had a 1pm appointment for eye surgery and 2:42 pm and she has yet to be called and they are saying it will be another 2 hours before they start on her surgery because they are that far behind and I failed to mention that it is a 3 hour drive from her home in Nashville to the office in Memphis... And they say its nothing that they can do... Not pleased with the office, staff, and doctors on how they treat their clients, very poor accommodations.

the doctors are very nice. The answering of the phones is terrible. you call with a serious question and you cannot get anybody to answer. you can wait on the line for 30 minutes, no kidding, and still get no one. i called for appointments and got someone. She was very nice and took my information. It is a good thing the doctors are good. It is not the computer problems as you say, it is your staff.

I am a long-term patient at HEI with multiple eye issues, one of which was life-threatening. The Physicians and Clinicians at both sites and in the Surgery Center are tops in their fields. You can trust them to always do what is in your best interest. I certainly do and as Proof, here I am. I have never had any trouble scheduling anything and this is over a period of 3+ years.

My daughter has been going to HEI for over a year now. We have to be seen every month and have never had any issues. The doctors and staff are amazing. My daughter has had three different surgeries through them and they have always been supportive and answered all my questions.

I have upmost respect for the physicians, at HEI. I have had three eye surgeries there a few years ago.However, the communication system is THE WORSE. I give the physicians 5 stars and the rest maybe 1 star.

Great doctors but a largely incompetent staff of support personnel. The scheduling staff is terrible, doesnt return phone calls and blames other departments for the problems.
