After reading the reviews of Countryside, I decided to call and make an appointment for my cats. I called two separate times, one to get the information and second to make the actual appointment. Both times I was greeted completely pleasant and the receptionist was so informative! It made me very excited to bring my pets in. I explained to her what I needed done and that I wanted to just drop them off because I had to be at work promptly, and she assured me it would not be a problem. The day I arrived, the receptionist greeted me nicely. I began to tell her what I wanted to make sure they were going to check for, and she politely told me someone would be right with me. A young girl came to the front when she was paged and said she needed a tech to come along because my cats needed vaccinations, then she disappeared. A couple of minutes passed by and the tech came out and basically stood there, told me to describe my cats under their names, and left. I continued to just sit there, with no help. I was not able to ask anyone questions because no one was around to help me, no one explained anything in depth to me such as what information they needed and what the rest of paperwork was, how long it was going to take, what exactly they had to do before they could be with me, etc. I am a brand new patient to the clinic, and a brand new pet owner so its like bringing your child to the doctor when they first understand where theyre going; theyre scared and they have a lot of questions, and just want to be reassured it will be okay. When the first tech came up I had explained my cats were in my car because they were being really loud and they were upset. Not having been around dogs before, I thought it would be a good idea to not bring them in until they were ready to be taken back. Because I explained this in the beginning, I felt there would be an emphasis on getting all the paperwork done quickly and get the cats in, on top of the fact that I explained the day before when I made the appointment that I needed to rush on to work, but unfortunately I didnt get it. I wasnt too happy at the young girl not being very happy at having to board my cats either. I want someone happy to take care of them. Of course when I decided to get up and leave, the receptionist asked if I had been helped yet. When I explained to her that I had not, I apologized and said I needed to get on to work. She asked if there was enough information on the paper for me to leave it there so they could take them in, I told her yes but even though there was I had tons of questions to ask. As I turned to walk away the young girl came up to the front desk and asked what happened. Im not quite sure why she couldnt have directed that question to me since I was standing right there, and why she was so quick to come up and find out what happened, when instead she could have just been quick to talk to me and explain things in the beginning and I would have been just fine. I decided to rate them "Good" because the receptionist was so friendly. I was she was taking care of me from the beginning. Also, because I am so new at this, Im not quite sure if I was just being needy, so I would hate to stray someone away from a good experience if I was just being too demanding.

Im glad to see that so many people have had positive experiences at Countryside Animal Hospital. I regret to say that our experience was far the opposite. On May 24th, 2014, we took our dog to the clinic because she was having difficulty in labor. She had given birth to two puppies naturally, but had been stalled on the third for several hours. I will preface the rest of this review with the fact that the staff was extremely friendly throughout the visit. X-rays were taken. Oxytocin was administered to induce contractions. The doctor left us alone with our girl and went about his business. We sat with her for a couple of hours, as she continued to struggle. Dr. Parsley came back in to check on her and we had a conversation about the situation. In a nutshell, we were told that if she hadnt had her puppies by the following afternoon, that an emergency C section should be performed, but, because it was Memorial Day weekend, that the procedure would run $2500.00. Next, he gave her a much larger dose of oxytocin and sent us home with her. I got the feeling by his words and the price we were given, that he had plans and did not want to perform this procedure. After getting home, we did more research and found that our dogs labor was already well past the recommended safe limit. So, we called another clinic that was recommended to us by a friend. By this time, it was 9:00pm on Saturday night. This vet had us meet him immediately at the clinic. When we arrived, two vets and two techs were awaiting us. They immediately performed the procedure and, Im happy to say that Roxy had a total of 7 healthy puppies. The people at the second hospital sincerely cared for the well-being of our dog and put her ahead of their weekend plans. The total price of the procedure was less than 1/4 of the price quoted by Dr Parsley. I understand that this may seem like an excessively negative review, but we were making a life and death decision for our dog and puppies, based on the information given to us by this doctor. First, if we had followed his statement about waiting until the next afternoon, Roxy and 5 puppies would most likely not be here today. Puppy number three was sideways in the birth canal and was not coming out. Second, we do not have the financial means to pay $2500.00 for the procedure. If we had not talked to another vet, we would have decided it was to expensive and had to just hope for the best, which would have had a bad outcome. I would have preferred that the man had simply told us to go elsewhere because he didnt want to do it. We are very thankful that we didnt make a devastating choice due to poor information and inflated pricing..

Dr. Parsley and Cathy have both gone out of their way to offer service far and above what you have come to expect from a veterinary hospital. Noodles, our Black Lab mix from the animal shelter, well he has a bad habit of eating things he shouldnt. Noodles swallowed a rock too big to pass. I called Dr. Parsley and Cathy on the afterhours number and told him that Noodles was sick. Without hesitation he said he would meet us at the office within 30 minutes. Oh, did I mention this was on Easter Sunday? Noodles got x-rayed; the blockage was found and removed within an hour of our initial call. Sad to say but Noodles did it again about a year later and Countryside once again saved his most irritating neck. Driving to the doctor’s office 9-12-12 I saw a little dog lying in the road. Obviously hit by a car. I thought poor little dog. Then I saw the little dog raise its head so I had to stop. I couldnt find the owner so I took him to Countryside. Dr. Parsley immediately started treatment on the little dog and Cathy and her team located the owner. Hopefully the little dog "Luna" will be OK. I once went to another Veterinarian office that I wont name, located on Mt Juliet Rd near the post office. The treatment there I can sum up in one word "Hostile". Seriously, you could not ask for any better service than that offered at Countryside and I highly reccomend them, even if you do live a distance away it is worth the drive. These are good caring people that care about what they do. I will not go anywhere else. Kevin Egan, Lebanon, TN 9-13-12
