WORSE DENTAL PRACTICE EVER!!!!! I am not one to ever rate publicly my own opinion of a business, but I feel I would be doing the city of shelbyville a great injustice if I allowed my experience to go unheard. For starters, dr alcorn has nothing but words of "compassion" written all over his lobby walls and website and I was shown zero compassion. I had a scheduled appointment and was turned away over an old bill, a very low bill at that, and while I admit it isnt fair on my part that I owed money, I was still in a great deal of pain and deserved more "compassion" then being shown the door until I had more money. His lobby walls should read of the love of money instead of his compassion of patients in my opinion. I asked the receptionist if she would ask the doctor if I could at least have some pain medication prescribed until my Almighty dollar was raised and she proceeds to tell me that whenever he prescribes patients pain meds the pharmacist at whatever pharmacy you take it to has to call dr alcorn and get a "procedural code" from him that is an imaginary reference to what work he did on you, before they will fill the medicine. She was unknowingly telling this farce to a pharmacy technician and it took everything in me to ask her where she got that lie or better yet why she uses it. Well I finally pleaded my way into a dental chair later that day to get only a shot of Novocaine at the rate of $75. Wow!!.. So I asked the doctor when I finally got to speak with him myself if he could just remove the tooth since I was already there and now numbed from injections and he refuses, so I proceeded to try to talk to him about different options I had for treatments and I have never been so put off by a doctor of any sorts in my life...Most doctors will gladly talk about options and their own opinion of what should be done, you know showing "compassion", but not dr alcorn. So to wrap this up I would not recommend dr alcorn to my worst enemy. I was so insulted by his bedside manner, or lack of that I actually left feeling worse than I came in. In my opinion all the plaques and website screams of "compassion" are a poor attempt to subliminally trick people into thinking hes something, when in reality hes the polar opposite. The only reason I even gave him a one star rating is because I had to select a star in order to post this review.

I was very pleased with my appointment at Dr. Alcorns office. He was very thorough with the examination, and he made sure that I understand everything. He and his staff were very courteous and respectful. I would have no problem telling others about him!
