Went to this dentist at recommendation of co-workers who got cleanings there, but no more. First red flag: when my company changed insurance providers, Vela refused to switch their billing and instead sent me all the bills. When I asked why they didnt bill my new provider- one of the main insurance companies in America and highly rated- they were rude and didnt tell me why. Eventually they did bill my new insurance company, but overcharged me and had to issue a refund. But it took MONTHS to even get the refund. To make matters much worse, a crown they did a year ago already failed. I only used them because of my bad experience with a poor dentist in san antonio. Well, Vela is even WORSE. They refused to honor their work done on the crown. Why? Because I started asking questions about why a crown was done on top of a filling. usually, a tooth is shaved down before a crown was put on. Vela did not do that, and would not answer my questions. The dentist, a young guy in his 30s, began yelling at me "Did you go to dental school? Did you go to dental school?" Im not sure what dental school this terrible practitioner went to, but they taught him no customer service skills, and perhaps little dentistry either. So I am out $700, my insurance company is out $700, and I will be filing a complaint to get this awful practice removed from my insurance companys network.

I wont go anywhere else! Going to the dentist is rarely something a person looks forward to.... However, Vela Dental changed my opinion. I lived in Corpus 5 yrs before getting a dentist. I selected Vela because it is close to my home. I was able to be scheduled very quickly. Each staff member is so professional, warm & helpful. I have never had to wait long in the lobby, I have never been treated with disrespect and I am always greeted with a smile. I ended up needing $1800 in crowns. They took their time to explain everything to me from payment options, to what exactly a crown is, to the procedure. They put me at ease and scheduled the work that week. Everyone has always been so patient and taken the time to listen to me - finding a medical professional that will listen & who has patience is rare. When my mouth hurt afterwards they quickly took another look & quickly called in prescriptions. Customer Service & Customer Satisfaction are highly valued. They always call me to remind me about appts and have always been pleasant. Whenever I go I always receive warm smiles and genuine attention. Everyone there is so good at their job & everyone works so well together. I can honestly say I no longer mind going to the dentist.... Dr Ben, Dr Rene, Frankie.... Thank you alll

Great team of professionals! Dr. Arredondo is a very laid back dentist who uses his military background and medic training to accurately assess patient needs and offer a variety of solutions for their needs. This office has been open since 1984 and has several patients who have been with us since then! I highly recommend this office if you are ready to make a change in your life with a smile makeover or simply maintain the beautiful smile you already have with regular maintenance visits!!!

I was treated by both Dr. Ben Vela and his dad, Dr. Rene Vela...the BESTI have ever been treated by a doctor, EVER. Im so happy for privacy because you would not believe what I looked like before my smile makeover! The excellent staff worked with my middle-class financial situation to give me a million-dollar smile! I was a difficult case and of course there was a little pain involved, but I wouldnt change it for the world! GO TO THIS OFFICE AND THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU!
