This practice intentionally milks patients. I have reported this to my carrier Blue Cross Blue Shield. when my previous Dr. of internal medicine went into boutique medicine, i found Dr. Becker on my BCBS provider network. Scheduled my annual physical, which is included in my annual premiums for April 2013. Sadly, i hadnt looked at the yelp reviews before going. I also didnt realize theyd want to run the labs that day. I had had a full breakfast, which i expressed to Dr. Becker was not normal and that i would like to come back the next day. Dr. Becker insisted i have the lab work that day. They were haphazardly performed in her office. When they hooked up an EKG, i told them id not had that, didnt think it was included in my annual physical, and didnt want it. The lab tech ignored me. I have never before had lab results performed within the same office. I was NOT impressed with the demeanor or apparent skill level of the lab tech. As i went to leave, a lady was sitting behind a desk at the Exit Door. she demanded i charge $140+ on my credit card before leaving. I explained i had NEVER been asked to ANY payment.... that this was my annual physical. She explained something obliquely about the fee covering follow-up questions from new patients. Feeling totally awkward, I paid the fee, after her assurance that this would be credited to my account if insurance complied. Got the EOB from BCBS and it was double what my previous Dr. of IM had charged. of course, a LARGE part of it was not covered by my insurance. I called quite outraged. i was told that Beckers policy was to bill a bit differently than other Drs., but that it was legal. Several conversations with BCBS revealed that Beckers office had billed as if i had walked in with a specific medical issue, NOT as my annual physical. Called Beckers office back and asked why this was billed this way. With an MBA in Finance and 2 grad degrees, their reasoninb was still unclear. I also had questions about the lab results and Dr. Beckers decision to take me off one prescription medication. Believing follow-up was included in the $140+ I was charged out of pocket (i had never before -- or since been charged ANY out of pocket for my annual physical), i was told id need to come into the office for an additional charge. Again, i sought clarification of the $140 charged to my credit card, to no avail. Shortly thereafter, I received a letter that i was being dropped by Dr. Becker. I had only 2 weeks remaining on a prescription, so I now was FORCED to have yet another physical. Found a good doctor whose office had NO idea why i was absolutely emphatic that this was to be considered and billed as my annual physical. Bill from my second, unnecessary physical was fully covered by BCBS as has always been the case on the coverage I pay for. My experience was unpleasant, a total waste of time, and could have had serious side effects had i not hustled to find another doctor. Dont put yourself through this.

I had to cancel my appointment to avoid a late charge simply because this office could not be responsible enough to do what they said they would do and simply have my health insurance in their documentation by the time of my appointment. Tammy, a receptionist, got flustered and offended by my question on if my physical would be free at this office like my health insurance states, and started going off on me about how Dr. Becker would only treat patients that would agree to any labs and tests Dr. Becker wanted regardless of any reason or the patients finances, and for that reason she could not assure me the physical would be free. Then I asked her if I could refuse certain tests based on my comfort level and finances if I had to, she said yes then came back and said "This office cannot meet your "medical needs," and you should try somewhere else." When I asked her what this had to do with my "medical needs", Tammy got so short and rude with me that an office manager got on the phone, having only heard Tammys side of the call, and started rambling and berating me about how Dr. Becker will not take patients that refuse tests. She also accused me of lying because she could not keep her timeline straight or explain away why her office was so incompetent that I had to cancel my appointment because they could not enter my benefits in the system in time. I would recommend going to a doctors office where the egos arent so out of control that the receptionist and office manager sound like rabid dogs on the phone barking at innocent patients for their own lack of competence and professionalism. Any doctor who has a staff like this cannot be trusted.

Christine Becker MD has been my primary care doctor for a number of years. We moved out of state for a few years, but when we returned and changed insurance plans, Dr. Becker was my first call. She is intelligent, thorough, honest, and just the sort of doctor to guide her patients on a healthy path. Her staff will inform you of everything you need to do in advance of an appointment, including terms of payment and whether your insurance is accepted. Doctors rely on good lab work. In general, if you want good results, you should arrive at your appointment at fasting levels.

Dr Becker is a good Dr - its a shame that she has the most HORRIBLE nurse to ever walk the face of the planet. She strives to be rude and make people feel like they are obligated to her in some way. She called me with test results and delivered them in a way that caused panic, UNECESSARILY. She give people grief over not being able to drop their children and their jobs to go have tests run. This woman is completly ridiculous. Dr Becker should HEAR THE WAY she talkes to patients. I actually ended up finding a new Dr because of this woman.

I have only had positive experiences with Dr. Becker and staff. They have gone out of their way for me. I have had zero billing issues. The receptionists are helpful and friendly.
