AWFUL. Visited them months ago and finally got around to writing a review. Their only concern is figuring out how much you know about animals/petcare and then taking advantage of you at every corner. God forbid youre a first time pet owner and you stumble upon this trap. I pretended to be a first time pet owner here a couple months ago and their recommendations are absolutely laughable. They want you to buy the most expensive meds from them and tell you scary stories if you press the weak parts of their arguments. This isnt my first rodeo---this place is designed to trick loving pet owners in a wealthy West University area near the Rice Village. Call any vet in Houston for the same drug/treatment and youll never return to this location due to their crazy markup. Do NOT come here with a healthy animal or if you are a first time pet owner looking for communication and answers from your vet. Instead of coming here visit your local shelter to get shots/preventatives that are exactly the same. Hell, you can even buy name brand at any vet and itll be cheaper than this place. If you know what youre doing (experienced pet owner) then youre not coming here anyway...imagine having to throw Rice Village into a business name to capitalize on the nearby Universitys clout...it screams desperation. You can tell theyve probably been involved with legal trouble in the past as senior staff is very careful with their words if you ask them educated questions about treatment or medication. Its very disgusting the way they sell you on things--attempting to scare you with anecdotal stories of random pets while not revealing the possibility that perhaps theres a 1% chance the booster/treatment would be useful for your healthy animal. I have a friend who didnt know anything about dogs but really wanted to take care of her animal---they prey on people like this---the fact is theyre overcharging poor old ladies and wealthy families from West U. You can tell from google and yelp that many negative reviews have been reviewed or modified, for me, thats a HUGE RED FLAG. If Rice Village Animal Hospital provided the reviewer a good experience to begin with then they wouldnt have had to reach out to yelp to get reviews deleted or to followup with the yelp reviewer to beg them to change the review. Only when the admin discovers it may damage their reputation do they look to solve the issue. Just gross in my book when youre leveraging the health of an animal for money and have to get reviews taken down. Lets top it off with the fact their hospital administrator was rude and threatening, but the logic they used was hardly intimidating. It felt like I was talking to a large cornered child, if Im being honest. Not sure who she is or where she gets off...she feels like shes in a position of real power I suppose...conning these nice older ladies in Houston who cannot use Google/computer takes a really powerful person, right? Humans should be better than this; Im baffled shes still allowed to be the face of this vet hospital. It doesnt take a lot of work to convince old ladies to buy 10 years of name brand pharmaceutical products when they could save almost 100% by going generic. There are plenty of great vets in Houston who will be honest with you and make owning a pet a great experience. This Rice Village Animal Hospital location is a clear cash grab and frankly an insult if youve ever been a pet owner before. Oh and forget any sort of followup or communication concerning your cat or dog (email, phone call) from anyone beyond a select few at the front desk. If you need to make your random checkup visit that you dont need for $70, however theyll spam you endlessly. Thanks for all the spam mail about your useless big pharma products as well. Not the type of thing youre looking for if you love your animal and theyre in need of treatment for a serious issue.

Honest, dependable, friendly, & hard working. Im from out of town & was in a bind...needed a place to board my 4 pets overnight ASAP. They were able to accommodate me & update my 2 dogs on the vaccinations that were due. I got lucky that they were having a special for new customers so I saved quite a bit of money with the 4 animals. They are a bit pricey, but sometimes thats worth it when you care about your pets (even if you are a single mom who doesnt make a lot of $). They had a lot of paperwork to do on my 4 pets when I first arrived & they worked diligently getting it all together while also helping other customers who needed their attention. I did not go to the back where the kennels are so I cannot review their conditions, but I felt I could trust leaving my pets there. It was supposed to be for 2 nights, but I was able to get them back after the first night. I called within 45 min of closing saying I would be there in about 10 minutes to pick them all up. They happily got everything ready in a short time so that I could pay my bill (which was explained to me), get instructions on some additional health issues, get report cards on all 4 pets (I like hearing how they behaved with other people), get all of their belongings, & have them help me out to the car w/everything in about 20 minutes after I arrived.

We have tried several vets in Houston and never had the welcome and personal attention as we received at the Rice Village Animal Hospital. It just happened by accident and we are so delighted with it. We were going on a 5 day trip to San Francisco and had planned to leave our GSD fur baby Jasper at our friends who have his older sibling. The night before when we went to drop off Jasper , we were shocked how Jasper was growled at and roughed up by his older sibling. Jasper is about 18 months old and a very sweet dog. We found ourself in a bind and decided to board him for the first time. We checked his current vet and several other places with no luck with 2 hours left to catch our flight. I made a last ditch effort to visit the Rice Village Animal Hospital hoping that they will take him, otherwise I was prepared to cancel my flight. Although they boarded only their own client pets, they made an exception and accepted him. We proceeded with our trip knowing that he will be well cared. Since leaving town we have received a reassuring message from his doctor and a welcoming note from the clinic bout how Jasper was doing. We are so happy to have finally found a caring vet for Jasper. I am sure when we pick him up in 2 days, our trust in the clinic would be reaffirmed. Thanks RVAH.

Although the staff and the doctors were very kind and seemed to care about my dog, there were no explanations, instructions, or follow up given each time I picked up my dog (we went through about a week and a half of him having to go in every-other day because his problem was not resolved). I was not even given instructions on whether or not my animal could eat or what he could eat and when I asked the staff that question, they said they were not sure but to go ahead and let him eat. Instructions should have been left by the doctor and if they weren’t, the staff should ask another vet or call the treating vet and not just make up an answer. Then when my bill came it was twice what the doctor had told me.... not ok... you can do MUCH better for the $$. (All they really care about is the $$).
