This is literally the worst vet clinic I have ever had to step into. There is a huge problem with communication between staff and theyre always understaffed in general. I myself work at a clinic in Baton Rouge, Louisiana but occasionally bring my parents dog in for them here while in town and every experience has been terrible. I dropped my moms dog off for her to have her comprehensive exam and update some vaccines. They dont usually give canine influenza but she is boarding at my clinic next week and we require it so I requested for her to get that done while she was in. I TOLD THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE AT LEAST TWICE EACH that she had received the initial vaccine last year at my clinic, had it boosted, and just needed the regular annual canine influenza. Then there was the issue of rabies......they refused to give her a 3 year rabies because she was over due for it. This is a stupid policy that makes no sense. Whatever. I told them to not give her rabies and that I would give her the 3 year rabies myself when she boarded at my clinic. They also refused to give her a 3 year distemper. Again, they have arbitrary rules about their vaccine protocol. Totally unnecessary. Eventually they called and told me my dog was ready for pick up. While on the phone, I asked if they could send her updated vaccine records to my clinic at home. I was told this was taken care of. When I went to pick up my dog the total didnt seem right to me and I realized that she had never gotten the canine influenza vaccine. The receptionist went back to tell the techs that she needed it before she was brought up and then tells me that they cant give her the vaccine because they dont have records of her getting the initial one last year and the booster. Why didnt any of the THREE people that I told this to that morning not inform me of this? I could have easily had the records ready for them. The icing on the cake was that nothing got faxed over today. The ONLY positive thing about this place is that the vets are nice. It needs new management and about double of the front desk staff. My moms dog Ruby has been only seen at Banfield vets for the past 10 years and this is the only one weve ever had a problem with. This is only one of many frustrating experiences with this location and we will never be back here again. I honestly cant say enough bad things about this business and how its run. Update: So it took FOUR DAYS but my moms dogs vaccine records finally got faxed over to my clinic. I guess it takes asking 2 people in person plus making 3 phone calls and then getting ugly during call number 3 to get anything done from this clinic. Like I said, I work at a clinic and I am very understanding when it comes to long waits etc. because Ive been there. For me to actually complain about service or get frustrated with staff says a lot. Update #2 (and hopefully the last time I ever have to even think about this place): I finally had someone from the office contact me and tell me they changed Rubys distemper vaccine in the computer to reflect thats its a 3 year & they agreed to give her a 3 year rabies. Like I said, they have arbitrary rules about their vaccines. At this time I was back in Baton Rouge, so my mom had to bring her in for that. When my mom brought her in, she was told that Ruby had never gotten her comprehensive physical exam, been wormed, or gotten a heartworm test on the visit last week. HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE? I AM SO DONE WITH THIS PLACE. I dont think I could even bring myself to shop at Petsmart from the freaking PTSD that Id probably have from just looking at the clinic.

Weve gone here a few times because its right down the road from us, and I was planning on having this office be our regular veterinarian, but now Im on the lookout for a new one. First, I dont like that they dont clip the dogs nails in front of you..this afternoon my fiancee and I took our 4 month old puppy in to have her nails trimmed and they took her back to the back for 10 minutes, then came back out and said that she was biting them and wouldnt allow them to touch her feet and trim her nails. My fiancee and I touch her feet all the time and so Im wondering what exactly happened back there, and that actually really upsets me because I want her to have good experiences with the veterinarians office. I also had an issue last week when I took the same puppy to get her kennel cough vaccine so she could start training. She has had a vaccine reaction in the past which landed us in the emergency vet, so per the emergency vet AND my previous veterinarians advice, I gave her Benadryl before we came to the appointment. At NO POINT did anyone tell me that there was a specific protocol for vaccine reactive dogs..they told me this at the 6 PM appointment that they like to keep the dogs all day, give them IV fluids, and keep an eye on them. I used to work in a veterinary clinic and this is overkill and is simply fishing for more money. I had never heard about this "protocol" until the nurse came in and told me about it, and obviously I was upset. They did get a doctor to come and administer the vaccine, and when he did, it was an intranasal vaccine which I did not know about and I didnt appreciate the fact that I was not made aware of this either. Long story short, PetSmart is where we will buy our dog food, but they will no longer be seeing our pets for appointments.

I will never go back to this location again. Let me start of by saying I don’t have an issue with the doctors it’s the staff that I have issues with and it’s not one specific issue but a culmination of issues. When you call they hardly answer the phone so you have to keep trying. I left a voice mail saying my puppy had vomited three times due to a reaction from a vaccine and no one called me back. On a separate occasion I was told that someone would call me with x-ray results and that never happened. I had to call them the following day to get the results. Also, when you do call for an appointment it’s usually a two to three week wait. The front desk staff is SLOW AS MOLASSES and there is a real lack of concern. This last visit I arrive 10 minutes early and 35 minutes later I’m still sitting in the lobby waiting to be put in an exam room. Let me add that I’m the only one waiting in the lobby. During this time a man and his dog come out of an exam room and have been standing at the counter for 10 minutes waiting to be checked out. The lady behind the counter has been on the phone the entire time with someone walking her through steps to fix the printer. After 35 minutes of not being acknowledged I tell her to cancel my appointment and I walked out! What should have happened was either she put her call on hold and help the two of us or call someone from the back to come and help us. I called the location on Grand Parkway and had my dogs records transferred there and got an appointment five days later not two weeks!
