ITS OBVIOUS THAT THESE PEOPLE LOVE ANIMALS MORE THAN THE MONEY IN THEIR POCKETS! NOT YOUR TYPICAL VET EXPERIENCE! My boyfriend and I took our cat, Delilah, into PetCare Express after she had stopped eating and become lethargic. She was less than a year old, and I had foolishly assumed that her inactivity was due to something she had eaten, a cold, or possibly an allergy. She had always been a light/thin cat, but when she started to quickly lose weight and energy, my boyfriend and I decided to take her to PetCare Express. Unfortunately, this story does not have a happy ending. Upon examination, Dr. Parham found massive swelling in her abdomen, possibly renal failure or lymphoma. He was very gentle and patient with both me (I was very emotional) and our Delilah. We took her home and began treating her daily with her IV, antibiotics, and force-feeding. The treatment was affordable. Both my boyfriend and I were surprised, expecting a much higher bill. Less than a week into the treatment, Delilah was ready to go. We had hoped for a miracle, but she had continued to decline, and quickly. The force-feeding was getting more and more difficult, and I could not continue to watch her suffer. Her whole body was stiff and she could not stand comfortable on her own. We returned to PetCare Express knowing what we had to do but not wanting to do it. We ended up having her put to sleep. We asked about pet cremation and Dr. Parham suggested a service that we ended up using. It has been about two weeks, and her ashes are ready to be picked up (I will be doing this tomorrow). I tell you all of this because I want you to know just how patient and kind Dr. Parham was with us and our Delilah. I cannot express enough how grateful I am to have had such a wonderful vet examine Delilah. He was gentle but straight-up. He did not sugar-coat anything. He told us exactly what he thought about her condition (even if it was not what we wanted to hear) and the possible outcome. I know that it must be difficult having to break that kind of news to any pet owner. THE TREATMENT WAS AFFORDABLE, AND DR. PARHAM WAS HONEST (AGAIN STRAIGHT-UP) ABOUT THE COST OF VARIOUS OPTIONS... AS WELL AS WHAT HE FELT WAS NECESSARY AND WHAT WASNT. I have had many vet experiences growing up, but my experience with PetCare Express was different. It broke my heart. It was terribly brutal, and it has been difficult getting over the loss of Delilah (especially for my siamese Sampson), but I am glad I went to PetCare Express... and for as long as I am here, that is where I will continue to go... and I recommend everyone do the same! ***** And upon reading some of the other reviews, I would like to note that I did not find the staff to be rude or the office to be dirty. Obviously, because of their affordable pet care, sacrifices are going to have to be made (cosmetically)... I do not think about these things. All I think about is the quality of care that my pet is going to receive and the vet who is going to give it. And that is why I rate PetCare Express Excellent. *****

THEY MAKE IT VERY DIFFERCULT TO GET FLEA MEDICINE FROM ONLINE WEBSITES Yes, Everyone’s experience is different but I say Do not go to this place. I took my dog here. They told me she needed flea medicine. The flea medicine there was expensive. So I found a place online that you hear advertising on TV often. So I ordered my flea medicine from the online place and when they went to call pet care express to confirm the prescription for the flea medicine, pet care express would not confirm the prescription with them. They wanted me to physically go back there and pick up a piece of paper and physically mail it to the online place. When ALL PETCARE EXPRESS HAD TO DO WAS CONFIRM THE PRESRCIPTION OVER THE PHONE And they WOULD NOT do that. THEY REFUSED TO DO THAT! Yes, sure some of the people working there are nice and pet care express is cheap. They will give you cheap vaccinations, but they will not work with you when you try and get flea medicine elsewhere So you get what you pay for They are always to busy to help you on the phone. They keep you waiting on hold for 5 minuets at a time. when you go, you can wait for a second if there is noone there, but everytime i go i always wait at least an hour. one time i waited 2.5 hours If you want to get your pet anything else besides cheap vaccinations DO NOT GO HERE I tried other options with pet care express; I tried to work with the lady at pet care express. I tried to reason with her. But her only choice for me was to drive all the way back there to resolve this issue. All you have to do is tell the online place it’s ok to fill the prescription I HAVE GOTTEN PAIN MEDICINE A LOT EASIER THEN IT HAS TAKEN TO GET THIS FLEA MEDICINE Something so simple that can be resolved over the phone, but they don’t want to work with me OR THE ONNLINE PLACE I CHOOSED TO BUY MY FLEA MEDICINE FROM Maybe they won’t work with you. Or maybe they will. It’s always a chance you take when you try someplace new right? Maybe you will get lucky and everything will be perfect I tried being patient with pet care express. I tried being understanding. I never do these reviews. NEVER. I have other things to do then voice my displeasure at some poor customer service i received, But Pet care express has left me with no choice but to voice my displeasure on here. I read these reviews on these sites; I see what people say about the place before I go for the first time. i am aloyal person, a few weeks ago, i would have told anyone how they are ok and yea sure try it out. not anymore. I hate to be the guy on here yelling don’t go to pet care express. But the place let me no other choice. Now, I have to go to another vet. I have to make an appointment. I have to wait, and go though all the motions all over again at a brand new vet, just so I can get my dog some flea medicine THANKS PETCARE EXPRESS FOR NOTHING BUT A WAIST OF TIME Hey who knows, maybe the the vet will be a breath of fresh air after all the time I wasted trying to get flea medicine.

Hows that for Irony! I came online with the sole purpose of writing a positive review--lo and behold--theres a review on here from the same day, 6/27/09, that I was there! This is either the woman who screamed at the receptionist for being "cut in line"---its a walk-in clinic. You CAN sign in--then leave to get coffee, lunch, whatever...and come back and still maintain your place in line. OR.. the woman who got pissy because she thought I had cut in line---who was extremely rude to the receptionist as well. Sure, you "get what you pay for"---and many of the patients are not polite, rude, or downright miserable to deal with!! I cant blame the poor receptionist for feeling frazzled. People getting ridiculously upset over nothing---instead of asking, they just assume and complain...LOUDLY. argh. ANYWAY... heres my "success story" I do rescue (so I use walk-in clinics ALLLL the time... low cost is so important). I am from Austin, but found petexpress as a recommendation from the SNAP clinic--as they will only see healthy animals (wellness/shot clinic). I drove 30 minutes to get to this clinic.... the receptionist was frazzled, as someone earler had been extremely rude to her (is that you?)...however, she was able to maintain her composure and professionalism...even when the OTHER patient griped about being cut in line (by me...which is funny because I got there about 2:00pm...she came in after me to sign in... THEN I left to pick up lunch). YES...there was about an hour wait.. again..walk-in clinic=first-come, first served (even those who sign in and leave for 15 minutes)=LOW COST! I came in with 4 kittens in horrible shape--desperately needing compounded prescription meds. Of course, on Saturday, this isnt possible. So, the vet agreed to charge me for seeing ONE kitten (since they all had the same thing), and wrote a RX for meds for everyone (yes--he did look over them all--they obviously all suffer from the same illness). I also brought in my dog---he charged me the $9 for the vet fee, plus 10.50 for meds.. 10.50 for doxyclin!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! what a steal!!!!! my dog is already feeling better. I walked out feeling like this vet really knew what he was doing, respected me and my financial situation, was able to work with me, all the while insuring that my pets got the absolute best vet care possible. I have sent out a mass e-mail to everyone I know in Houston telling them about this awesome clinic and my great experience...if I lived in Houston--I would absolutely be in this clinic at LEAST once a week!!! THANK YOU Dr. Parham for your care, compassion, and for putting the animals FIRST. THIS is what vetting should always look and feel like.
