Dr Jimmy Schmidt is old school and isnt into fancy cosmetic procedures like Botox and making someone who is 60 appear as if theyre 25 and thats one of the things I actually like about him. Hes a dermatologist who is extremely passionate about his career, patients and the subject of dermatology in general. Though hes been out of medical school awhile he is still educating himself and on top of everything, probably more so than most doctors. Ive been there a few times and I can say that things have definitely improved with regard to the front desk staff. They were very friendly, personable and efficient the last time I was there and the waiting room was not packed like usual so I assume theyre not overbooking which is good for the patients and doctor. It leaves him in a better mood and gives him more time to spend with each patient which he really enjoys doing. He is very personable and really enjoys talking with his patients. What I like best is the fact he takes a conservative approach and a holistic one rather than write a Rx for antibiotics immediately (like so many tend to do nowadays especially if you go to urgent care). Dr Schmidt is really up to date on infections and is considered a specialist in this area and is very well respected by other doctors. He advised me to take bleach baths (dont worry, its not a lot of bleach, just a small amount like youd experience in a chlorinated pool but probably less) to prevent staph infections since Im prone to them. It sounded strange at first but after doing some research I can see Dr. Schmidt is 100% correct so I take the time to take bleach baths 2-3x/week which seems to help. My most recent visit was for a strange infection on my thumb (turned out to be fungal from a public pool, dont swim in public pools unless you know they 100% maintain them and there is no sign of fungus/mold). Dr Schmidt prescribed thymol in alcohol. I never heard of it but I should have because its amazing stuff. I had it filled at the compound pharmacy on 1960 not far from the office and Dr. Schmidt was right; it works!!! And better than any pills or cream. It got cleared my infection in less than a week and without any negative side effects like antibiotics have (e.g. stomach issues, resistance). I was so impressed that it prompted me to write a review for Dr. Jimmy Schmidt. Ive seen a lot of different doctors in my lifetime but he is one that I truly trust and will go out of my way to see.

Ive been going to Dr. Schmidt for years and he has never disappointed me. Yes, there is usually a 30 min wait but once Im in the exam room, its a great experience. Not only do we discuss the reason I am there, but he will also take the time to discuss whats going on in our world. The last time I went, 8/21/2015, we discussed the 10 yr anniversary of Katrina and the many times hes been to New Orleans and the difference in the culture there and in Houston. Yesterday, I received some mail from him, it was a journal called the New Yorker that had several articles in it about Katrinas affects on the people of New Orleans. For him to remember the discussion we had and to send the journal, that tells me he cares about his patients. The first time I went to him, he immediately diagnosed me with discoid lupus just by looking at a spot on my nose and ear. He did do a biopsy of the spot on my ear, but he was dead on with the diagnosis. He prescribed a corticosteroid cream to use on the spots and sure enough, they went away. Hes a no fuss kind of doc. Hes old school and knows his ish. I recommend him to my friends and family all the time. They usually laugh when I tell them his name, but I wouldnt think of going to another dermatologist. Not as long as hes around. Thanks Jimmy for the journal. I will read and return to you soon.

I went in to see this dermatologist because I had a small red bump on my left cheek and it wasnt a pimple. I didnt have health insurance and I was a cash patient. I knew the bump was an abnormal growth. I went in to see this doctor on 12/9/15 and he did not take a biopsy of the growth, but he looked at it closely with a magnifier and he said it was a freckle with an irritation underneath. Hmm.. I was grateful it wasnt an abnormal growth.. so he prescribed me a very expensive acne wash for my face, he said the irritation could be due to my acne. So my mom, being a pharmacist, helped me out and told me to get a benzoyl peroxide wash because it was essentially the same thing. Anyways, here I am 5/16/16, I am pimple free and the red dot has enlarged to almost the size of the diameter of a large straw. When I first noticed the bump it was very small. I am so upset about this! This dermatologist is not worth anyones time! I am scheduled to be seen at another dermatologist and have to shell out another $100+, but hopefully this doctor wont laugh when I tell him my fear of this being basal cell (which I am certain is what this thing is) and will take a biopsy.

The wait to see Dr. Schmidt was about 30 minutes- even though I was there on time for my appointment. Dr. Schmidt seemed rushed and almost indifferent. He was only in the room for not even five minutes. His information wasnt really helpful-and at the end of the day-not what I wanted out of the appointment. all he did was give me brochures and write a prescription for "acne" WHICH WASNT EVEN WHY I WENT TO SEE HIM. And on top of that nightmare the copay w insurance for me was 60$!! Really? if I never go back there again it will be too soon.

Liked nothing. Time to retire jimmy. Told me to come in to make sure my medicine is working. Didnt examine me...didnt do any test, but sat me in the room for 45+ minutes and had me pay the $40 copay. The black lady Dana or whatever even argued with me. She said I just misunderstood her. I said yes because u didnt explain yourself correctly. Word experience ever, I dont recommend this old ass doctor with his old ass office.

Correctly diagnosed a "rash" on the neck in about 2 minutes flat as terra firma-forme dermatosis. After our primary physician looked at it and went "huh", and after our allergist looked at it and went "huh". Took care of it nicely with an over the counter remedy, no medicines needed. Glad we didnt go somewhere else and get talked into doing a biopsy or other expensive testing.

I agree, the receptionist is soooo rude. I called for an appointment and the lady named "JAYNE" is sooo rude. She treated me so bad. I even asked for the manager to complain and guess what, found out that she is the manager as well. No working manner. She does not deserve to work there or to work anywhere else at all. I hope she gets fired!

I watched at least 5 patients that arrived after me.. get seen and left the building before I was even escorted to a private sitting room. I waited forever there.. No doctor ever showed up. I left after NOT being seen by the doctor after One hour and 40 mins.. My time is more valuable than his staff apparently thinks it is.
