I recently obtained dental insurance and decided to get a check up since I had not seen a dentis in a few years, I had no pain anywhere or complaints, I just wanted a cleaning and what ever maintenance were necessary. I made two appointments with Mckinney Dental Group with Dr. Chitri, the first was for a simple filling and the second was for an onlay wich they told me was nessicary. The filling that I had done was very high and I had to have Dr. Chitri file it down for me many times and still had to return again two days later to have her file it again since the day I had the procedure done, I was still numb and unable to tell her how much she should be doing. the next appointment with them was an absolute nightmare, I was told that the entire appointment would take about two to two and a half hours. durring the procedure, the first thing dr.chitri did was grind out my tooth where the onlay would be setting, much to my extreme surprise she filled out well over half my tooth, this was never communicated to me in any way by the doctor or any of the nursing staff, after they did the digital imaging they left me in the room with a movie and a blanket. after the movie had ended, I remained in the room for another thirty minutes, keep in mind no one had checked in or even asked how I was doing or feeling, after sitting there for what I felt was an adiquate time I asked one of the passing nurses when the doctor would be back, 15 minutes later the doctor and nurses arrived, and after four hours and 45 minutes they began to insert the onlay, dr. chitre had much difficulty getting the onlay into the correct possition, and wound up cementing it into the wrong spot and had to once again grind out all the work that she had just messed up and start the four hour process over again, I began getting very aggitated and was assured by dr. chitre that the process would not be much longer. after waiting again for her to cement it in, the tooth was very high and I had to instruct her many many times that it was too high and uncomfortable. while doing the filing she injured herself and cut her finger on one of the tools, trying to "muscle it between me teeth". The procedure ended up taking 6 1/2 hours and I was late to work that night and had to request a note from the front desk as to why I was late. two weeks later I was still experiencing pain from both procedures, I called back and talked to the office manager Greg King I told him that I was more than unhappy with the work done and wanted a refund or at the very least a discount on the shoddy work. He argued with me that no refunds are given to anyone for any reason and when a mistake is made by a doctor, only that doctor may fix the work. I absolutely refuse to place my health in their hands due to repeated mistakes and terrible work, followed up with an extremely rude office manager, I was given nothing more than an email to complain to, I wrote who I was told was the district manager and I never received any confirmation that my complaint had been acknowledged or even recieved. I am amazed that a medical professional could be this bad and inconsiderate of their patients. I am unable financially or mentally to seek another dentist to fix the problems I encountered here.

Im a 22yo college student living on a small income. I live on a small income, and had been avoiding having a wisdom tooth pulled. All of the quotes i had received from various dentist offices had been in the 300-500 dollar range and I just wasnt able to pay that. Then one day I was in extreme pain and had to go to the emergency room and get numbed up. Then I went home and was a little depressed from not being able to afford having the tooth removed. Then i got online and started searching for a dentist that was more affordable and after about five minutes of searching I came across McKinney dental group and decided to call. When I did they asked me if I could come in right away witch i did. Upon arriving they had me fill out the usual paper work. Then I went to the back to get my ex rays done, they confirmed it was my tooth. Then i was brought in to the exam room and Dr. Loving was examining me and said he could remove it but Greg the office manager had to go over the price and have me sign a few papers. I was very nervous and in a lot of pain thinking i was going to have to leave still in pain because i couldnt afford the dental work. When Greg walked in he patted me on the shoulder with a comforting smile and asked me to look over the paper work and the price. It was going to be $325.00 if Dr. Loving had to remove a part of my jaw bone but if he could remove the tooth and leave my jaw bone intact he would and I would only have to pay $150.00. I started praying that he could remove it and not take any jaw bone I signed the papers and 3mins later Dr. Loving had me numbed and i couldnt feel a thing :). He then said he was just going to mess with my tooth and see if he could wiggle it. Little did i know he already had begun to remove it and not after 3mins of him wiggling it :) he had it out I never felt any of it I was so happy that he got it out and that he did it without having to take any jaw bone he wanted to shake my hand but i had to hug him instead. Now came time to pay and I was talking with Greg in the front about my follow up and he brought the bill over to me. And informed me that it was $150.00 and that I only had to pay $75.00 now and the rest in a month but I could pay it all now if I had the money. I have had a lot of dental work done but by far these guys are the best. They are very caring people I mean they generally felt for me why Ii was there and made it their mission to make sure I wasnt in pain or broke when I left I can’t tell you guys how happy and blessed you guys made me feel thank you and god bless you all.

The Dental care I received was OK, but the front office billing staff is terrible. I have a DHMO plan with Cigna and the Smiles Group (which includes McKinney Dental) and Monarch are pretty much the only places taking my DHMO in McKinney. I had to have a crown done at McKinney Dental Group and the office manager told me that my insurance only covers a "basic" all metal crown for $175 and all other lab crown types are "upgrades" and cost $700 and up. I told her my fee schedule from Cigna shows that I pay a 20% co-pay for ALL crown codes and that virtually all of the lab crowns cost between $175-$230 out of pocket for me except for gold which I didnt want (I wanted all Ceramic). She basically said the fee schedule was meaningless and that the only crown my insurance covered was all metal (which is a lie). I contacted Cigna and they told me that the Smiles Group was in violation of the DHMO agreement because they had to follow the fee schedule and could not refuse service for any of the codes on the fee schedule and that code 2740 (All porcelain) is only supposed to cost me $230 out of pocket. McKinney Dental Group still charged me $870 for the crown. Even after Cigna processed the claim and sent McKinney Dental Group the report showing I was only supposed to pay $230, they STILL refuse to reimburse me the extra $640 saying that my crown was an "upgrade" regardless of the code or fee schedule. I am now having to go through the appeals process with Cigna so they will withhold the money from McKinney Dental Group and reimburse me directly. The Smiles Group (including McKinney Dental) is basically cheating the system by signing up under DHMOs so they can receive the monthly stipend for the patients, but then if the patient needs to have major dental work (like crowns), they lie to the patient and ignore the fee schedule by saying everything is an "upgrade". I even consulted a rep for a dental lab and she confirmed that the lab cost for an all-metal, porcelain fused to metal, and an all-porcelain crown is pretty much the same especially when you factor in that all-porcelain crowns dont need margin upgrades (no blue gum lines). I have since changed my insurance to a PPO and selected another dentist and the dental care AND billing experience is night and day. I would never recommend McKinney Dental Group or the Smiles Group because of their shady billing practices if you have a DHMO. If you are on a PPO, you can do much better anyway. You will be much happier finding another dental group.
