I WAS terrified of the dentist for as long as I can remember. Prior to this week, I had 1 dental appointment in 11 years, seriously. Much to my dread I had to get my teeth checked, cleaned & fixed. The very call scared me and I was met with listening ears & compassion. I forewarned her (who I now know as Lisa) stating, "I am the woman who gags, screams, bites, cries etc. and I am probably any dentists worst possible patient". Prior to seeing Dr. Allen, I did all of the above mentioned including biting the dentist. I told the previous dental office & dentist the exact same. Phobias are real. Long short of that end: My disclaimer fell on deaf ears, his ego got in the way and he got bit, literally & metaphorically speaking. All the staff & dentist: Dr. Allen, Lisa, Kimberly, Willie, Karina, Brandy, and Les are: extraordinary, professional, kind beyond measure and possess phenomenal skills! Each truly the best in their position or trade! They did everything possible to make my visit extraordinary and it was; I could fill pages upon pages with examples. If you dont like...(hate - terrible word and true for many) or feel even a bit squeamish about seeing your dentist, RUN! Get out! Listen to your gut! I double dog dare you to get your teeth cleaned at Sugarhouse Dental Care, honor your body, overall health and well-being! Just do! Go see them, book your appointment right now, no kidding! They changed my world. I didn’t know they existed prior to my 43 day headache. Now, I sit in comfort, teeth clean, bite corrected, and a relaxed jaw. I didnt know what I didnt know. I hurt myself by allowing my fear to get the best of me. Never again. PS - I didnt bite Dr. Allen and I didnt walk (run) out the door crying. They even invited me back. While I can’t say I love getting my teeth cleaned. I fell in love with all the folks at Sugarhouse Dental Care and will return in six months. Many thanks and much love. -LaRiesse

Not a good experience from the beginning, but what really pushed me to review was the outrageous amount of calls/texts I received reminding me of my appointments. Without exaggeration, I received 3 calls in one week, 2 voicemails, and a text message reminding me and asking me to confirm my appointment. I mean, honestly, a reminder is great, but the harassment endured to get the appointment confirmed is crazy. I scheduled my initial appointment, and then a follow up; I had to reschedule the follow up, so I experienced this 3 times - so its not to be written off as some overzealous reseptionist - it is just the way they do business. I was quite annoyed with my intiatial appointment when I was discussing my follow up treatment. The woman scheduling insisted that I must be seen every 3 mo post procedure for a specialized cleaning, assuring me it was different from just a reg. cleaning. Since my insurance wouldnt cover the follow up, I opted to be seen again in 6 mo. for a reg cleaning vs the recommended 3. It literally took a hygienist coming in 20 min later, confirming that it was in fact just a regular cleaning, and told the woman that my treatment is my decision. She begrudgingly changed my treatment plan after I insisted she modify the plan and billing agreement before I signed. She told me that it wasnt necessary to reprint the agreement because it was just stating their recommendation, but it was up to me - the agreement was clearly a billing authorization and a detailed treatment plan. I told her I wouldnt sign without modification. That should have been enough to leave but what really pushed me out the door for good was the appointment confirmation harassment.

Ive been concerned about my teeth for years. I was relieved to find a dentist that took time to listen to my fears, answer each question and educate me along the way. In the end, I decided to proceed with 9 crowns and Ortho work. I finally have hope for my teeth and a game plan moving forward. With the education and excellent work provided by Dr. Clifford I now have peace-of-mind, knowing my teeth can last for many years. With the extensive work I needed It was refreshing to have a dentist open early, after work and on weekends (I have had to take advantage of all these time slots). Its refreshing to know I dont have to take vacation time off for my dental work. This was uniquely important to me because as a kid I remember thinking it was strange my dentist only worked 4 days a week. Ive come to realize that many dentists go into dentistry for their family schedule, not for the people they serve. This isnt a knock on them, they put tons of time in for school and Id love to have a 4 day work week too, but its pretty awesome that there are dentists that figured out a way to put my needs first, with hours that fit my schedule. Finally (as you can tell, Im nuts about this place), Ive seen it all with the issues Ive had over the years. I even had a dentist reach into my mouth without a glove once. :( So, this time I looked for an office with top-notch equipment and technology and I was not disappointed. I recommend this office to anyone that needs extensive dental work. Thanks Dr. Clifford and thanks to everyone that has made this process so easy and comfortable.

I thought I haaaaated going to the dentist. Turns out I just hated going to any dentist but Dr. McKinsee Weyher. Ive had some bad past experiences that left me with some trauma and anxiety even with routine procedures. I hadnt been in over a year when I noticed a huge hole in one tooth and other sensitive spots in my mouth. Living just a three-minute walk away from Sugar House Dental Care, I saw they had a good rating and figured they were my best, most convenient bet. I couldnt be luckier to have made this decision: Dr. Weyher is a dream! I didnt know I could love a dentist. Turns out I needed FOUR root canals and a few cavities filled. I cried in the office more than once on my first visit from the stress of that knowledge, but McKinsee was so empathetic, kind, and patient. She explained what she needed to do every step of the way and made sure any discomfort was minimal to nonexistent. She even took special note of my anxiety and helped me prevent it. The day after my first procedure, she called me on her cell to make sure I was okay, and told me to save the number in case anything came up. I still have two root canals and another cavity filling to go, but thanks to Dr. Weyhers calming and understanding nature (not to mention her confident touch and obvious skill) I know Im in the right hands. Thanks, McKinsee!

Wow! I had a tooth break and didnt have insurance. I wasnt able to afford getting a tooth pulled let alone a surgical extraction so I just gently bit the bullet and saw how far I could go. After a month, it got extremely painful. One day at work eating.. It became a nightmare and I needed it pulled now. Flying down the mountain from work, I had my girlfriend find the best place she could that could fit me in asap. Thank god for Sugar House Dental Care.. They were full but made it happen. I came in, was greeted with love, and was taken care of immediately. I love that each room is separated by walls and that you get a personal TV. Not only that but you get to choose what Pandora station you listen to. I picked Beats Antique and the dental assistant (who was amazing) put on Planet Earth. It was funny how perfectly the music went to the show. The best part was Dr. Ryan Allen. He was extremely professional and you could tell he genuinely cares. He was not only able to remove the tooth, but he was able to get it out in one pull. Which classifies it as just an extraction even though it was broken. That saved me a little over $100. He could have easily messed up or made it be the more expensive procedure. But like I said, you can feel that they actually care there. I refuse to go anywhere else from now on.
