I adore the doctors at Virginia Eye Care Center. My previous optometrist was professional but a little eccentric. (I figured it came with the territory -- who wants to spend the majority of their work days in darkened rooms?) I joined Virginia Eyecare on a lark and have never regretted the decision. I have seen both Dr. Shay and Dr. LaFreniere (AKA Dr. Tim). They are engaging, knowledgeable, and thorough. When I had a motor vehicle accident that required follow-up eye care, they were able to see me quickly (no pun intended). When my dog ate my sunglasses, the opticians were able to help me get a new pair in a timely manner. Im slightly squeamish with eye exams, but the staff is always patient. The front desk staff is always professional and courteous. Since Ive joined, Ive also recruited my parents and husband. We all love Virginia Eyecare Center. Many thanks to the wonderful doctors who provide such caring service! I highly recommend this practice and will be sorry when I move away and have to find a new eyecare team!

Both my wife and I had a wonderful experience at Virginia Eye Care Center. Dr. Anne was fantastic in working with both of us to ensure an accurate diagnosis of our eyesight issues and that we had the right prescriptions. As a first-time eye glass wearer, she explained to me all of the options for my condition and made recommendations that ultimately were the best for me. And when we picked up our frames a week or so later, Julie was awesome in ensuring that both of our frames fit properly and spent the additional time in getting them right so that our glasses felt comfortable and sat properly on our faces. An absolute fantastic experience! I’ll be making the hour+ drive for all of my eye care needs to see Dr. Anne and her team again!

Have seen Dr. Anne Mecchariello for many years and she is amazing. She is so dedicated to her patients. I had an eye emergency a few years ago and she even came to my house to get me and took me into the office. She followed me very closely as she sent me to specialists. She truly went beyond her role to help me and I will never forget her kindness and knowledge during that difficult time. She explains things so well and makes you always feel comfortable. The whole staff is great too.

Ive been seeing Dr. Caplan for over 30 years. His knowledge and ability to recall my history are top-notch. Ive moved out of the general area but ALWAYS take the drive up to Burke to see Dr. Caplan. Also, Ive found that buying my glasses and lenses from them is MUCH better than Lenscrafters or other discount stores. In other words, you get what you pay for. In fact, those places wont even try to refill my glasses RX due to the nature of my vision/lenses.

The service was not the best as far as wait time, front desk , and the doctors professionalism. I had to wait longer than 30 or 40 min each time. It took the doctor (Anne) several trials for the right prescription for my eyes to get the right vision and still couldnt get it right. The front desk doesnt communicate with the upstairs people and told me to pay what i didnt owe. Also, it took me three calls to make them send me my prescription.

Love the staff and Drs. Saw Dr Forrest for a routine exam with which she took her time and explained everything to me. She was wonderful when I inquired about getting contacts and spent additional time fitting me with the right ones, making sure that when i left the office i was happy with the samples we tried. Ive only been going here for the last couple of years and would not want to go anywhere else.

Doctors might be great. However, do not rely on their scheduling and reminding system much as you will not receive any text message or email reminder ahead of time. If you are by few minutes late, they will not wait for you, but will "move on" with other patients who somehow would already be there waiting at exactly your time spot. This is how efficient their scheduling system is

Im a new patient to Virginia Eye Care Center. The staff was courteous , friendly and helpful. Dr. Kathryn was thorough and I felt confident with her diagnosis of my condition. She answered all my questions. The office is open Saturday mornings which is convenient for me. I highly recommend Virginia Eye Care Center.

These are the best eye doctors in town hands down. Professional staff, extremely thorough examination. They spent an extra 30 minutes ensuring that a small fleck on a retina scan was nothing dangerous to my health. Everything was fast and I felt like a VIP the whole time. Definitely recommend!!!

Great docs and staff. Very knowledgeable about insurance. State of the art equipment. Finding it a bit harder to make a last minute appointment but that is expected because they are so good. Been going there for about 12 years.
