Positives: WE LOVE DR. ANDERSEN!!!, and the staff there are great. Very caring and loving animal hospital. We have had a lot of health issues with our two cats, and they have been very helpful and caring. When we had to put down one of your cats, they really helped us with this decision in a loving fashion Price-matching for online meds! They will price-match for medications etc that you can buy online. Print out the ad and bring it in, and they will honor the same price. Online meds have no quality guarantee, by the way. Negatives: Vets in the States ARE costly; thats just a reality of our society. Go over the international border North, and prices are 1/2-3/4 LESS!. One time one of our cats was seen by one of the other vets (other than Dr. Andersen) who made an incorrect judgement concerning her teeth, saying that it may have to be pulled. It was actually only a bad case of plaque, and she only needed a cleaning. We got it done while abroad for 3/4 of the price. The money/medical question is a product of our society and our health care system, however. THEY TRULY CARE ABOUT ANIMALS!

We brought our cat Mitzi to see Dr. Andersen in September 2016 because in the midst of our move, she lost another canine tooth and the root needed to be surgically extracted. He was very nice and met with us to answer any questions before taking her back. She did really well post surgery and we were pleased to establish care with a great practice. One of their vet techs even sat for Mitzi when we had to travel. Fast forward to May and Mitzi inexplicably stopped eating. Dr. Andersen worked with us and tried to figure out what was going on. He communicated with us regularly and I felt confident that my 13-year old baby cat was in good hands. In the course of her almost 6-week illness, we also met Dr. Bohne, Dr. Heilmeier then finally Dr. Rose. Unfortunately, despite good veterinarian care, our baby didnt make it. The staff did their best to help ease her passing on that difficult day and Im grateful for that. Now a young boy kitty kind of fell into our laps so weve been back for his wellness check and well continue his veterinarian care with MAH.

MAH is the best! Not on do they do house calls, but they have served two generations of our pets with incredible care and dedication. Dr. Anderson saved our kittens life -- twice! First by diagnosing severe anemia of unknown origin and getting him the emergency procedure needed to keep him alive. A steroid regimen helped him get back to normal, but was not a long-term answer as he would only last a few years so heavily medicated. Dr Anderson did additional research and found an obscure reference from a Japanese medical journal about mega-dosing Vitamin K2 in humans aided in bone health. A trip to the Health Food store and we have been able to slowly reduce his steroid use and he is now med free -- just needs his daily Vitamin K and he is about to celebrate his 3rd year with us. We could not be happier with the doctors and staff at MAH.

The folks at Monticello Animal Hospital are wonderful. They treat my American Staffordshire Terrier so lovingly, she doesnt even mind being there. Ive been going there for more than a year (at least five times- my dog has issues haha), and Ive literally never waited more than five minutes to be seen. A few times, my dog has been slightly injured and I have called to get an opinion, and they ALWAYS call me back promptly and provide great advice. Sure, its expensive, but you kind of sign up for that when you become a dog "owner". Oh also, the deals they get for flea/tick and heartworm medication have saved me at least $300. Sign up for their emails to get the deals when they happen!

I called ahead of time and received a quote for our visit and when I left, thats exactly what I owed. I am so thankful for their honesty...they did not try to add other hidden or "forgotten" tests or procedures or products. Dr. Anderson was wonderful. Very personable, eager to make sure our puppy was doing well and that I got all of my questions answered and concerns taken care of. Mostly though was his warm and playful approach to our 14 month old lab who adored Dr. Anderson on our first visit. Our puppy was very happy, playful and excited...not at all scared or "ready to get out". We love it and have finally found "our" veterinary home!

Recently our favorite pet, Gracie, who is a family member in Havre De Grace, Maryland, developed gall stones and required surgery. My sisters experience with evaluating vets in the area was not a pleasant one. As Karen received several very different quotes for the cost of the surgery she was receiving some mixed feelings about the staff she encountered. I have known Dr. Michael Rose for nearly 10 years, and know him and his staff to be dedicated to doing whats right, not just some of the time, but ALL of the time. With Dr Rose and staff, you can be confident that you will receive the kind of care you expect for your family

I have had nothing less than stellar service and tender loving care for each of my pets that has been seen here! No matter which of the three vets I have seen, each one has taken the time to learn my four legged kids by name and condition. Yes its expensive, but that is part of the commitment of owning a pet. I also have no doubt that if I were in a dire financial situation the folks at Monticello Animal Hospital would do everything they could to help ease the financial burden. When you genuinely love your work it shows and I see that everytime I come in. Thank you guys for your friendliness and pure love of animals!

I saw John Anderson, DVM, for my cat Maeve today. She was a stray who we adopted about 2.5 weeks ago off the street outside of my brothers home. Although we had taken our cat to a vet initially upon adopting her, many of her issues remained unresolved. We were recommended to Dr. Anderson by a friend and got in within 2 days. He was friendly, informative, thorough, knowledgeable, and developed a well defined short and long term plan for our cat. We feel very comfortable and thankful to continue care with Dr. Anderson and would highly recommend him to any of our friends or family.

Monticello animal hospital provides excellent, quality care. We have five animals. They have always taken great care of our dogs and cats. More importantly, they have always sought to make them as comfortable as possible when they have become ill. When the dreaded decision to euthanize a sick pet has arisen, they have provided the utmost compassion to our family. They genuinely seem to love your pets as much as you do. Additionally, I have always found the prices for the medications to be affordable and cheaper than what you can find on the internet.

I took my dog there to be neutered. He came back with an incision along his penis, which is an active organ/muscle tissue that took FOREVER to heal. Why didnt they simply where the testicles were? It didnt make any sense. In addition when my dog was sick one time they ran unnecessary tests when he was simply dehydrated. On top of this, I order my dogs flea/tick and heartworm medication online b/c it is cheaper. The vet would not grant the prescription for the heartworm tablet because the hospital wanted me to buy from them. Money-grubbing at its finest.
