Ill start by saying that Dr. Schaeffer was great during my cats well visit and I was happy with the care they received. One of them is on prescription food that I need to order through a vet, and have done so through The Animal Medical Center with no real issues for the past year - until now. I was told the food I needed was in stock when it was not which resulted in a wasted trip (we now live in Waynesboro). It was then ordered and took some time for it to come in. What was frustrating is that I was very clear on what type of food I needed, said the name at least 3 times during the conversation and noted that my cat is overweight and that it MUST be moderate calorie - they still got it wrong. To top it off, they couldnt find me in system and insisted that I was not a patient, even though Im looking at the paperwork from my cats annual visit and have ordered food from them every 3 months for the last year - meaning Ive been in the office at least 5 times. Does not instill confidence in the practice when they "cant find" a patient who has come into their office more in one year than most people probably do. Will not be going back.

We have been using Animal Medical Center for 20+ years and wouldnt want to go to anyone else! Our last Jack Russell terrier lived to be 18 years and 8 months and part of that was due to the excellent care that she received there over the many years! Our cat was also a patient there for his 17 years. They and their staff, i.e. front desk, techs, etc. are all very knowledgeable, helpful, and caring! I think Wanda has been at the front desk from day one! They feel like our extended family! We now just have the one dog, but we know he will also get the best care there!hey feel like our extended family!

Ive heard a few people complain about these vets but in my experience their claims have no foundation. I personally have loved the staff members here. I work in the animal field so I can be a pain for them. I sometimes disagree with procedures they reccomend but they work with me to educate me about what they have experienced and I appreciate their honesty and wealth of knowledge. They are great about working me into their schedule quickly and they arent trying to con me into paying for unnecessary treatments. When I find a reason to complain I will let you know :)

The doctor performed the WRONG type of ACL repair on my large breed dog. Now Im spending thousands of dollars to have the surgery done a second time. This hospital was more concerned with making money than doing what was right for the dog. A good veterinarian would have referred us to another hospital that could provide the procedure we needed. "Angry" does not even begin to describe my feelings towards this hospital.

Ive taken a total of three cats and five dogs to this practice for more than 15 years and have had consistently good care. Theyre excellent diagnosticians (and my pets have had some tricky illnesses) and their various surgeries have gone well. Theyre attentive but not overbearing, which is a relief. Weve been to a number of other vets in Charlottesville, but are most satisfied with this team.

My experience at Animal Medical Center could not have been any better! Unfortunately we had to put down our 13 year old golden unexpectedly. Every person on staff there, from the receptionist, to the nurse, to the vet were the most compassionate people! Just cant thank them enough. I have found my new vet for my other 2 dogs!
