If I could give 0 stars, I would. I really wanted to support the cause of Anicira. They take in dogs from high-kill shelters and place them with a foster family until a good home is found. However, I have never encountered more of a dysfunctional group of people in my life. I not only tried to give them my business with my two dogs, but I also tried to donate $250 cash to them to which the company that my work for would gladly match. After speaking with Dan who is evidently in charge of Donations and taking care of fostering the dogs, I agreed to provide him with this donation. I left a check in their lockbox, after hours, one day after work. On that same day, I left a voicemail for Dan to NOT cash that check until he spoke with me first. Their voicemail says that they will contact you back within 24 hours. That time has come and gone. After leaving 5 separate messages for Dan to return my call, I asked to speak with someone in charge. A rude lady who did not identify herself came on the line and said that they will be refunding my check, that they did not want my money ..and that Dan had told them that he had called and left 2 messages. This is clearly a lie and I took it as extremely rude! I rechecked my voicemail ...no messages from Dan or Anicira. Also, when I took my 2 dogs there, the female vet almost insisted that I stay in their tiny, crowded waiting room while she took 1 dog at a time to the back. This is not how this Daddy rolls. I likewise, but more adamantly insisted that I would be going where ever my dogs go to ensure that they are well taken care of. When I went to the back, I could see why she wanted me to wait in the waiting room. There was no room (four corners) and not an appropriate space to do a simple wellness examination of my dogs. I was appalled. Lastly, when i went to pay, they over charged me and I didnt catch it until after she ran my credit card. I did insist that they refund me the difference and only charge the correct amount. On that same day, I also decided to donate over $250 in top-quality dog-food, treats, and toys to further help in what is a good cause. You would think that they would show a little attention to their donors. It is with a heavy heart that I say ...if you are thinking about donating to this non-profit, I would reconsider. While I want to help animals in need, I am unable to find myself in a position where I can trust this entity. Beware!

I have used the services of the Spay and Neuter Clinic (now named "Anicira") for many years and they are wonderful in many ways. First of all, the staff is courteous and professional and the services the vets provide are great. I have had many cats spayed and neutered here - both my own, personal indoor cats as well as cats for family members and neighbors. I have never had any issues with the cats recovery and only once did I need to call the clinic to ask a question about a healing wound - and even then, i was able to speak directly to the vet. Because they perform such a high number of spay and neuter surgeries, they are the BEST at what they do and they also provide other "wellness" services such as rabies, flea/tick products, nail trimming etc. Ive witnessed the staff being very kind and loving to all the animals every time ive been there and the facility is immaculate. When a dog or kitty has an accident, they promptly wipe it up with disinfectant and towels. I have never heard of one negative thing about the clinic or their vets/staff. What a great asset to have them here in Harrisonburg. I know they provide low-cost services to those on fixed budgets, but its wonderful that they pass along those low prices to all of us. PLEASE use their services without reservations - they are top notch!

I dropped my puppy off on Thursday, July 30, 2015 and picked her up at 3:00 pm. By 7ish, I note that her incision is totally open and she is bleeding out. I called Anicira hoping for an emergency number, but they do not list any and their voicemail is not working. So, I drive over 1 hour down the road to an emergency vet for additional surgery on something not done correctly by Anicira. Since you cant leave messages, I filled out a form on-line to submit my experience to Anicira. My cheap spay ended up costing me short of $600 dollars, not to mention my poor puppy not being care for properly and having additional surgeries to correct Aniciras original mistake. Four days later, I get a call from Dr. Harper, saying that I should have read the literature where they list the emergency information and that she cannot be held responsible for Aniciras hours or voice mail not working. If she cant, who can? She said, "Im sorry." I have a lot of respect for what Anicira and other spay/neuter clinics do. I considered making a donation. I did. Several hundreds of dollars later for Aniciras surgery that did not go well for my puppy. I am sorry, too, Dr. Harper. You did not treat my puppy or me with the care that we deserved. I wouldnt trust you to do a spaying or to care for any of my other animals.

I would and have highly recommended Anicira to a few friends and family of mine because of the exceptional service I have recieved. Everyone I have dealt with has exceeded my expectations and have been very nice and professional while doing so and being extremely busy at times. I am very picky about where I take my dogs because of previous expieriences I have had at other vets and theyre like my children. Since deciding to give them a shot at first with my female chihuahua I loved the way they took her in and she seemed very comfortable even after being spayed, she was back to her happy normal self the next morning. I originally dealt with Dan and he was very thorough with the questions and concerns I had which made me feel a lot more comfortable leaving her in their hands. I since have taken my mother and Is 4 other Chihuahuas to get neutered as well on 2 different occasions and every time Haley has provided exceptional customer service and more importantly has been very loving and caring not only to my dogs but every pet I have seen her handle while Ive been there. Having employees like them makes a big difference on the comfort and trust we had in leaving our pups with them. Thanks Haley, Dan and Anicira for take awesome care of my pups!!!!

Lots of room for improvement. Overcrowded. Very little to no room in waiting room. Will not willingly allow you in back with your pet ...because they dont want you to see how bad it is behind their closed doors - in my opinion. It did not seem to be cleaned well or organized. Everything is rush, rush with no privacy. After insisting that I accompany my pet to the back room against their persuasions, we we taken to a countertable and not a private room. My pet was put on a table that was not cleaned beforehand. As I questioned this, as any rationale person should, they were very rude to me. I tired to even donate to these folks ...when I started asking questions, they sent my money back to me saying they didnt want it. VERY peculiar! I have tried to give them several opportunities to right several wrongs, but Dan Chavez in Operations now refuses to offer any kind of service. Beware, if you leave any kind of negative rating or start to ask questions they may treat you as they have done me and refuse you service. I have formally requested an in person meeting with COO, Sarah Sari and/or the Director of the Harrisonburg clinic on their website. My bet is that the message does not even make it to her. Time will tell.
