I really, really wanted to be able to leave a 5 star review for this clinic…not just because of the bribe they have posted stating to do so and get $20 off of your vet bill, but because the staff members I encountered did seem genuinely nice. If you live close by to this clinic and it is a matter of life or death for your animal, than they will definitely do what they can to help your pet, but you will pay for the convenience of not having to drive to Verona. The total cost of my cat’s two day stay was 2000….my cat’s entire surgery he later had to have was half that much. HEVC does offer credit plans with 12 month deferred interest credit, which for me knowing I could break up the huge bill was a big relief and I didn’t think twice about agreeing to the services. The nurses working were very kind, and kept me updated on my cat’s status over the weekend, doing extra work to entice him to eat a little for them. Once I was able to get my cat to my normal vet they did agree with the emergency vets diagnosis. I was told by my vet that it appeared HEVC had tried to catheterize my cat twice…at one point puncturing his bladder, only adding to the bladder problems he already was dealing with. Thankfully despite being punctured, bladder surgery was performed in time and my cat seems to be ok. I am not happy about the shoddy job of catheter placement, you’d think for 2 grand they could at least have gotten that right; I guess with varying anatomy amongst breeds of animals you run that risk during placement. At the end of the day, HEVC did keep my furbaby alive over the weekend, and I am grateful for that.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The doctor was extremely rude and was unhappy that I wouldnt pay $1700 for a completely unnecessary procedure (a second and third opinion confirmed). I paid $500 for IV fluids and an antibiotic, which is absolutely insane. I paid for an E collar that I NEVER received. I was given no call when my cat was ready to come home and found out when I called and inquired. I was given no wound care information when I left although I asked. This place is an absolute joke and couldnt care less about your pets unless you give them the astronomical amount of money they request before even seeing the animal. Ive never been so disgusted with a business. Update!! After doing some digging, I have found public information associated with this "vets" practice in regards to having claims filed against him that were substantiated. These included performing procedures not authorized by pet owners, having procedures result in broken bones and skin necrosis, not bothering to communicate procedures to pet owners, recommending unnecessary and expensive procedures, performing botched amputations, and many more. . The fact that this vile human still has a job, period, is sick. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PETS LIFE!!

I took my sick cat here back in March after being told that a new emergency vet had opened in Harrisonburg. Right off the bat you are required to give them $100 before they will even put you in a room (which was fine). I was then given an estimate of almost $400 to further treat. I felt like I had no other choice because I wanted my cat to feel better. 2.5 hours later (we were the only ones there) and no resolution to what was wrong with my cat we were released to take her home. When I go to check out my bill is now $578.00 for a grand total of almost $700 to run blood work, testing, fluids and some meds. I could have thrown up. I went home and just cried. The VERY next day my personal vet sends out an email stating they do not recommend that this emergency vet is used due to client feedback and to continue using other known emergency clinics. Talk about adding insult to injury. I was appreciative that my cat was able to be made comfortable but what I was charged was absurd. I will never take one of my animals there again.

This Emergency clinic is amazing !! He took care of my husky after he got attacked by a bigger dog that was off leash while I was walking him ! He was very calm the whole time and knew exactly what to do , which in turn calmed me down (I was hysterical ). He got my pup stitched up and taken care of in no time while keeping him as comfortable as possible. The veterinary is very knowledgeable and has many, MANY years of experience , actually double the amount of experience of any vet that I know of . His main goal is to take care of your fur baby , not the money (which is a rare thing ) . He is very honest about his pricing ,which I found to be extremely fair . I honestly dont know where these bad reviews come from ... maybe competing veterinary offices ?? If you love your pet like you do your child and want the absolute BEST care for them, You will bring your pet here when you need emergency care !

I want to share my experience and opinion based on an interaction at this clinic yesterday. This was by far the worst veterinary care one of my animals has ever received. My dog fell off of an ATV and had several small wounds on his body. I was concerned about his bones because he was very reluctant to walk. They never even examined his joints. They immediately told me that he was going to need surgery on one of his superficial injuries to place a drain and that it was going to cost $1100. I declined treatment. Today I took my dog to Massanutten Animal Clinic and they examined my dog thoroughly. We left with a bill of $32. It was outrageous that they tried to take advantage of me and perform a procedure that my dog did not need. I will never take another one of my animals to this clinic nor will I recommend that anyone else takes their animals there either.

Do not take your animals here. They will lie to you and tell you to pay thousands up front for treatment you havent received, and try to tell you that your animal is dying within hours to scare you into receiving treatment. I took my pet to a regular veterinary office this morning, he has a minor infection and will be fine. This joke of an institution tried to tell me that he wouldnt survive two days without receiving expensive, life saving, invasive procedures. They will tell you that you are cheap when you cannot afford $2,000, and they will accuse you of being an irresponsible pet owner when you tell them you want a second opinion. The doctor here has MULTIPLE lawsuits against him. Please, if you can take your animal somewhere else, do so first. This place is horrendous.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE FOR ANY REASON!!!!!!! christmas eve i took my cat here to check to see why he was uncomfortable and licking himself after he was using the litterbox. this clinic charged me $760!!! for diagnostics that DIDNT EVEN INCLUDE BLOODWORK! then he tells my wife and I that he needs $1300 more for a precedure to remove a blockage that he claimed was life threatening!! i refused because of finances and the day after christmas i take him to my vet and she took a look at the xrays i was given and determines there is no blockage and upon further inspection of my cat determines that he has a uti and needs only a special food and minor treatment to cure it.a TOTAL COST OF $70 odd dollars!!!! these people are liars and dont deserve to work in this feild!!!!
