Update…April 2017…14 and 1/2 years old now. We are grateful for the extra time that we have had with Hank. We have been back to Heartland, and they are great as ever. Dr. Beach is wonderful, and Dr. Arneson is like Dr. Doolittle with the animals. Thank you Heartland. SAVED MY DOGS LIFE…PERIOD! We have a 12…now going on 13 year old beagle that was fit, healthy, and well taken care of. He developed a pain in his neck that became debilitating. We tried three different vets for a diagnosis. None of them x-rayed the dog, but all knew it was in the cervical area of his spine. One vet told us that he could not be x-rayed without being under general anesthesia. As you all know, general anesthesia carries risks for older animals and older humans too. We initially tried prednisone, an anti-inflammatory, and a painkillier, but the dog did not show signs of improvement. As he declined over the next couple of weeks, they all suggested euthenizing him because of the pain level, and that he was too old for surgery. He got to the point of barely being able to stand. With one last hope, on the recommendation of a friend, we made an appointment at Heartland. Although they were completely booked, and already overwhelmed with appointments, they saw our dog. The staff all stayed late ON A FRIDAY, to make sure that all of their patients were taken care of. The first impression of the office was a professional, clean, and competent medical facility. The service level far exceeded any expectations. Honestly, I wish Heartland treated people too. Dr. Beach gently examined our dog, and came to the same conclusion that it was a problem in the cervical spine area. Then she wanted an x-ray. My wife and I expressed our concern about anesthesia, and she informed us that there would be no anesthesia. After the radiographs were processed, Heartland emailed them to a Radiology lab for confirmation. Within a few minutes, we were informed that our Beagle had degenerative disc disease (basically a bad disk) . Dr. Beach recommended a protocol of medications that did not include Prednisone. She also recommended low level laser therapy. We did the first laser treatment that day, and our dog immediately showed minor improvement. It has been about five months since our first visit. Our beagle that could barely stand, walk, and was in pain is now doing GREAT! He takes walks in the mountains, climbs stairs, wags his tail, enjoys playing, occasionally runs, and loves treats…He is now only taking one pill daily, and has routine laser treatments for maintenance. This probably all sounds very expensive…it wasnt. It was far less expensive than surgery would have cost. We are extremely grateful for the competent veterinary care that Heartland provided and still provides. These folks deserve a hundred stars!

The staff and the doctors are simply the best! I have worked with. Dr A. many times and I know that he knows that my 16 year old Pug is getting to the point were I will have to let her go, but he is still trying to help me keep her as long as I can. Dr A. did this for me with my other pug and the kindness he and his staff showed me and my daughter was much appreciated. The doctors and their staff make you and your pet feel you are their primary concern while you are at the office and even after you leave, if they are needed. They are more like family than people who just care for my family member. For this I owe you big time and thank from the bottom of heart!!!! The only thing that may help others, the cost to have nails clipped. It should have a different price for the dogs that are very docile and different prices for dogs who react differently to having their nails trimmed. Such as $10, $15, and $25. I do not believe that a person whos dog does not fight to have this done or the ones that struggle some, but are not really difficult when getting their nails trimmed, versus the dogs that make it difficult to get the job done. It is just an idea.

There has never been a greater vet or vet office then Dr. Arneson and the Heartland staff!! They have been there through my many dogs over the years and no one could pay me to go anywhere else. When our dogs have passed away they have sent cards and flowers. When my Rottweiler had to have not one but TWO surgeries, the staff made sure that everything went perfect and smooth, including giving me the info on the recovery process. And there are just not enough words for how awesome and knowledgable Dr. Brian Arneson is. My mother has taken her 4 legged children to him since I was a baby and the tradition continues with my kids. Love the entire staff, from the girls at the front desk (LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!) to all the vet techs and assistants. You will never find a better veternarian office then Heartland Vet Clinic!!

2013- Heartland is an excellent vet clinic but you will pay for it! I love the office staff as well as two of the vets, Dr. Beach and Dr. Arnesan, but I wish it was more affordable! The office is always clean. The wait times are reasonable. The availability for emergency appts is quick. And Dr. Arneson put my baby back together after a car accident, and 7 years later, she is still doing well. (gave 4 starts back then) 2017 Update- I really love and appreciate everything that has been done for my Dog over the past 10 years. And the care provided to my second dog who passed away. I would rate the two vets I see at a 5 and the staff at a 5 as well.

i took my poor baby to heartland 8 months ago to get her teeth cleaned but it was only half way done and the owner still was so rude and demanded a payment of HUNDREDS. whats worse is that my dog has been having periodical seizures since that day and she never ever had a seizure. i noticed a bruise on her skull and suspect that something forceful happened while she was under anesthesia but of course they wont admit anything. im kicking and hating myself for taking her there. if u really have to go to this clinic, please do so with CAUTION. ive been going to harrisonburg animal hospital ever since and they actually care.

We recently brought our dog, Phoebe, for her initial visit and to update her on her vaccines. Dr. Arneson was incredibly friendly and handled Phoebe like a pro (shes really not keen on anything coming near her rear). Before we knew it, hed finished the exam and given her a booster shot. Phoebe didnt even know what happened, and was just as happy as could be that people were paying attention to her, lol. The clerical staff and clinical staff alongside Dr. Arneson are also incredibly friendly and genuinely wanted us to be there. I highly recommend Heartland for your veterinary needs. Good show all around, everyone!
