We have two cats that would not be alive today if it were not for TLCs exceptional emergency veterinarian services. Our first experience with TLC was almost a decade ago with a stray we took in and tested positive for FeLV. Vet after vet in the region advised euthanizing him or condemning him to an inevitably horrible end within a few years (at best). But we found Loudoun Cat Care who actually advised on a procedure that would be able to determine whether or not the virus was a permanently in his system or something his immune system may be able to clear. TLC was able to perform that procedure as well as advise on results and a path moving forward. Today, that cat tests negative for FeLV. Most recently, our cat who has a history of GI issues developed a GI bleed that required an emergency blood transfusion, which TLC was able to provide. TLC laid out the recovery plan, and in conjunction with our primary vet, prescribed a longer-term plan to more definitively diagnose and then manage our cats IBD. That cat has fully recovered from her bleed emergency and TLC has been integral in preventing a relapse with their range of medical services and procedures. That cat is doing better now than she has in ~8 months and her prognosis is very good now that we know more about what we are contending with. From their nursing and administrative staff to their doctors, theyve always provided excellent service and support. They listen and they truly do seem to care and have compassion for the animals and what they do. Theyre not cheap, but they are competitive and they return the investment in the level of care that they provide.

If I could rate them a 0 star, I would! They nearly killed my dog! I took her there for a simple 15-minute procedure that turned into a life or death situation. She now is dealing with a LARGE hole (that cannot be healed) in her chest due to improper plate placement which was not grounded properly during one of the many surgeries she had to undergo to reverse the original 15 minute one. All they could say was "Oops." Oops! Really?! How can that be treated with shrugged shoulders and then act like everything is okay? The bill after was OUTRAGEOUS too! We were told that we needed to pay it all before we left, or we could not take her home. No option of a payment plan or half down- nothing. Trying to give them one more chance to curve their mistake, we tried to take our dog back to them yesterday for another look over and were turned away by Dr. Steven Graves because we voiced that $699 was a lot for an overnight stay to evaluate and address her wound. He told us that we needed to leave since we voiced our opinion and asked him to at least look at her chest. Nope, we were charged $150 for crossing the threshold and speaking with the vet, which yielded nothing. He then told us we needed to leave since we were not willing to pay for an overnight stay. UNBELIEVABLE! They have NO empathy and lack compassion in ALL aspects. We are trying to desperately reach Susan Barnes, Steven Graves or someone in the clinic to speak to, and no one will answer our calls, emails or texts. *Disclaimer, pictures below are graphic*

Unfortunately my little chihuahua had to come here earlier this week. It was 10pm on Wednesday when I decided to bring her in. She had been panting and acting very odd for about 2 hours so I called to see if I could get some advice. I called and immediately was transferred to a vet-tech who asked a lot of questions about what was going on. She advised me to come in. We showed up about 45 min later and the vet-tech I spoke with was waiting for us in the lobby. She took Benita back to check all of her vitals while I filled out her paperwork. Within a short time we met with the vet. He was such a compassionate and genuinely nice guy. In the back of my head this whole time, I was thinking...."This is going to cost me a fortune!" We went ahead and let the vet give her 2 shots and told us he was going to put her on some antibiotics. It was nice because they took her in the back so I didnt have to watch the shots being given. The 2 ladies up front were so sweet and friendly. They rang me up and to my surprise, we only spent $156 for everything! Considering how much time they spent with her and all that they did, AND it was after hours, I was very pleased. Such a great establishment!

Today was one of the most emotional days since having seen a friend loose a service dog in Afghanistan. Our dog Biscuit a 12 year old Golden was not feeling well last night following puppy day camp, and just would not eat or drink water or get up appropriately. This morning I took her to our normal doctor at Old Mill and and after a few tests she was taken to The Life Center. Within an hour of additional testing she had been diagnosed and was undergoing emergency abdominal surgery for a "flipped stomach and an infected spleen." The staff was so professional and empathetic and incredible mindful and present... Every 10-20 minutes they would come to the family room and give us updates. The treatment, surgical, and lab centers are extremely nice and clean and the nurse staff walk back and forth in the recovery area every five minutes watching and checking on all the pets, looking at their vitals, recording their IVs, etc. I wish we had this kind of care in Afghanistan -- these guys treat the pets better than we treat our vets ... Anyway, if you have a loved pet and they are in danger, either Old Mill or The Life Center -- best in Virginia!

I am the proud owner of a 10 year old German Shepherd who recently underwent emergency surgery at TLC. She had a splenic mass that was bleeding into her abdominal cavity. From the time we entered TLC to her eventual discharge, my husband and I were pleased with the high quality of care provided. Her condition was explained to us in detail as was the emergency surgery that needed to be performed. The attending surgeon called us before beginning the surgery at 1:30 am and also called us when the surgery was completed around 3:00 am. The on-call critical care physician then called us at 7:00 am the next morning with an update. Through the four days that our dog remained hospitalized, we were consistently able to receive a daily update from the on-call veterinarian as well as regular nursing care updates. In addition, we were encouraged to visit. All staff members—vets, vet techs and the front desk were helpful and compassionate during this very stressful time. Thank you Drs. Barnes, Loveland and Leonard and the rest of the TLC staff!

Unless your pets life depends on it, go somewhere else, even then...be careful! I took my dog there last Sunday with a laceration to his paw, Towne Animal Clinic was closed. Moose was taken to the back by a tech who returned with him shortly saying the vet said he didnt need stitches. They did not even clean the wound and I wonder if they really even looked at his wound. He DID need stitches and because of their negligence, Moose required surgery within 36 hours of being "not" treated here. His wound worsened, and per our regular vet, "surgery was a worst case scenario that could of been avoided had they given him some stitches". When I called to inform them of the result of their negligence, their response was that we werent charged for the visit.
