My only complaint is that at every point of contact with an employee, it seemed as if the goal was just to "move the guy along...get him to the next phase as quickly as possible." This is not horrible, as you need to be expedient in your process. The problem is that it made it unclear to me as to WHEN I should really be telling my symptoms and to WHO. The initial contact? (She asked me, but she wasnt a nurse or doctor.) The nurse checking vitals? The doctor? By the time I saw the Doctor, I couldnt remember who I told what (and I was still feeling horrible with aches and a fever, so I just wanted to be done) so the most important info was left out for him! I was later reflecting with my wife that at Patient First, you really have to fight for your full medical treatment, or you might just be overlooked. There needs to be a time (probably with the doctor) that it is very clear-- "tell me everything wrong with you and any additional information that might help." The reason that last quote is important is that I told the nurse checking my vitals that I was in Nicaragua the past week and got many mosquito bites, and thought that might have something to do with my symptoms (chikungunya, zika, etc). The doctor never asked me about it, and thus never knew (at least I dont think he knew, the nurse might have told him but he never mentioned it). I was traveling with 16 people total on a mission trip, and 50% of us ended up with nearly identical symptoms. Dont you think that should have been an important part of the discussion with the Doctor? He purely asked me my symptoms, never asked for any other info. It was if he just wanted to get the basic info before he gave me antibiotics. With that being said, he seemed like an excellent doctor, very peaceful and polite. This is just some feedback that I think might be important.

I have a back injury from skiing and am in a lot of pain. I went to see my Chiropractor who adjusted me and said goto my primary or an urgent care and get a shot of pregnazone for the inflammation. I have been here an hour and a half and have only been seen by intake for insurance and the nurse who took my height weight and blood pressure. There were only 4 people in the waiting room when I came in. Since then 20-25 more people have come in (after work) several who were called back and seen by the doctor before me. I cannot sit or stand for more than a few minutes at a time. I explained to the nurse my situation who had a very disturbed look on her face when I gave her the information on getting a shot of pregnazone. She made a grimace face and said she would speak to the doctor but didnt think they could do that. She came back 20 minutes later and said we dont give pregazone shots here you can go to the emergency room or speak to the doctor. I explained I needed to speak to the doctor about an alternative steroid that could be taken orally that was 45 minutes ago. What could have and should have been a very simple in and out has turned into a long process with no results as of yet. Ill post an update if/when I am finally seen. The CHKD Urgent care in Chesapeake is 100 times better. I do not go to the doctor often but it is night and day difference between CHKD and Patient First. Patient Worst is more appropriate. Update now its two hours and still have yet to be seen or speak with the doctor. Update was seen by Doctor who was very informative and helpful. Up to that point it was a 1 star experience however Doctors knowledge and help was 5 stars so giving it 3 stars overall

Ive experienced issues with an old wrist injury, and after over use yesterday on a snowboarding trip, my wrist was really bothering me. So after work today I came to patient first, just as a precaution to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong since I probably over use my wrist at work rolling silverware all day. When I was describing my problems to the radiologist, she dismissed me saying that I still had full movement and no need of an X-ray. I wasnt planning on having an X-ray considering I know its not serious, but Im here to make sure I have nothing to worry about. Ive had this injury checked out for acting up previously, but I wouldnt be here unless it was seriously bothering me constantly at work. The radiologist then proceeds to talk badly about me to another physician, neglecting to realize that I was in the room right behind her as she was complaining about me for being here for no reason. Im sorry to waste your time, I will make sure to use a more professional facility the next time I have a medical concern.

The PA on duty Phillip Granger was very rude. He asked me where I worked at and when he found out I worked at another urgent care he asked me why I didnt go there.. What business of that was his.. Then he proceeded to say I had all day why didnt I go sooner. I could barley get out of the bed I was in so much pain. He had absolutely no bedside manner. I wanted to just get up and walk out he was so rude but I know that I needed help. Yes next time I will drive all the way to Norfolk the next day and go to my companies urgent care since they close at 8pm. He then proceeded to ask me if I had any surgery I said no but I did have another particular issue that caused this type of pain before and he says thats not surgery. I understood but I was just trying to give as much info from my past history. The whole time I just felt like he was making me feel small even though I was already sick and in pain. So dont go here if you are looking for the PA to make you feel worse than you already do.

Ive gone to Patient First for many years for treatment of minor issues. A little over a year ago I had an episode of excruciating pain in my right wrist and hand. I went to Patient First, where I was x-rayed and examined. No break was detected, and the physician I saw was curt and dismissive of my pain. A few days later I went to the emergency room at Sentara Princess Anne hospital. By this time my hand was grossly swollen and my pain level was off the charts. After extensive testing, I was admitted with a staph infection. My symptoms were so severe that I needed surgery. I was in the hospital for five days. Afterward, I was sent home with a wound-vac and an intravenous antibiotic line, and was home bound (and out of work) for six weeks. I may be wrong, but I feel that the physician at Patient First should have taken my situation more seriously and done some blood tests. I still feel angry when I remember how rude and insulting he was to me.

I came to patient first today to get some paper work done for my college application and also needed to receive a new prescription. The staff was very unorganized and dismissive I kept being taken back and then told to return to the front lobby about three times. I finally was taken to the back and my paper work was done but the doctors acted clueless and not in good communication with each other. I had to tell the doctor once again I needed my prescription which they acted like a total surprise. I should not have to remind the doctors over and over again. Dr. Robert Velbis then told me he would try to find a room for me then he completely disappeared. I asked one of the doctors about where he went and he pops out of nowhere dismissing me and saying that there are no more rooms. I did receive an apology but it was still very annoying I did not get great service.
