Dr. Gio has changed my life, prolonged my life, and made it possible for me to share a bed with my wife again. We will get to that in a minute.... I have been a patient of Dr. Gio for more than 18 years. He is gentle, thorough, and looks at the big picture. In the past, I just went in to the dentist for cleanings and exams. I have great teeth and only needed one filling done. However, he took the time and pointed out several things with the way my teeth come together that long term were causing me problems. He showed me the wear on all my teeth as well as the fractures, and erosion which really surprised me. I knew I was a grinder, but I never spent the time nor had all the effects ( sensitivity, recession, yellowing, and cracks) been pointed out to me. . He also showed me the pitting and yellowing on my teeth which was caused by too much soda and reflux. Arrrggh. I love soda, but he explained how bad that was for my enamel as well as my overall health. His Exam revealed that i might have SLEEP APNEA and I was blown away. How can a dentist tell that just by looking? Dr. Gio has taken many CE courses and has broadened his care to much more than just teeth. He showed me several things about myself that I was unaware of my tongue, the size of my mouth, how my teeth come together, the wear, the shape of my neck and a whole bunch more. Without a doubt, I was blown away. I always felt tire, overweight, found it difficult to exercise because I didnt have enough energy and was moody (so my wife and kids say). My wife would often nudge and push me at night, or worse yet, kick me out of the bedroom due to snoring. He ordered a sleep study which I did at home, and sure enough, I had moderate - severe apnea (I stop breathing at night for up to 60 seconds at a time many times a night). No wonder Im tired all the time, I never get good sleep. His treatment was to make an oral sleep appliance called a somnodent which I wear every night. Wooooowwww!!! what a difference from the first night. I sleep better, feel better, have lost 50 pounds and more important, get to come back into the bedroom. Dr. Gio gently lead me down the right path. I was reluctant, resistant, and pessimistic about this whole thing. Looking back on it, I should have done this 30 years ago. What makes this story so profound is that Dr. Gio and I went to dental school together and graduated in the same class. As a dentist, a friend, and a patient, I highly recommend he and his practice. I have now incorporated treating and diagnosing sleep apnea as well into my practice recognizing its importance.

What an outstanding practice Winchester Dental is! I experienced an extremely painful, debilitating TMJ disorder about seven months ago and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Gio after a friend recommended him. Even before my first appointment, Dr. Gio was concerned about my getting prompt pain relief, and gave me helpful information on finding a chiropractic office that could administer laser therapy to relax my jaw and help eliminate the pain. When Dr. Gio began treating me for my issue, it became clear that I would need to have wisdom teeth removed, and he made calls on my behalf to help me to find an oral surgeon who would be mindful of my jaw issues during the extraction process. Not all dentists go out of their way to do things like this, and its one of many things that make Dr. Gio a truly GREAT dentist. My treatment so far has been amazingly successful -- and painless! I now have ALF appliances and visit the office regularly. Whenever I have an appointment, Im glad to see Dr. Gios assistant Julie -- shes always cheerful, and explains the details of each treatment thoroughly. The feeling in the office is warm, friendly, and compassionate; and the administrative staff has been tremendously helpful with scheduling and such. I absolutely recommend this practice!

I am probably more picky about my dentist than any other doctor I see...I moved to this area about 5 years ago and have been a patient of Dr. Gios since that time. I have always been pleased with the quality of care I have received. I never feel rushed-through or have had to come back for multiple visits for a cleaning like someone else mentioned. They address all my questions and concerns, tell me when something needs immediate treatment or can "hold-off". I have gone to the dentist every 6 mos since I was a child and I dont find his treatment costs to be out of line with any other dentist out there. Maybe if you disregard your dental health and its been 10 years since your last dental visit - yeah, maybe what dentist charge these days could be shocking to you. I have referred at least 10 friends/coworkers to this practice.

I have had Dental problems all my life. My first dental visit before the age of 7ys old., I had double the amount of cavities then I had teeth. Through the years becoming unwillingly educated in the difference between good and bad Dentist. The Experience I had with Winchester Dental was exceptional and I thought their prices were below normal cost for good care. Id Like to thank Dr. Gio and Dr Mitchell for outstanding care and understanding my needs and goals. I had previously been to 3 separate Dental practices in D.C. that would not even consider my incremental long term goal to achieve a permanent smile. I just had a extraction at Winchester dental, I am very impressed with this office. Not only was the staff attentive to all my needs and make sure I was comfortable thru the whole process, the Dentist was amazing, he made sure I wasnt in any pain or discomfort. This was my first time going here and I will continue to have all my dental work done here as well as my fiances. I would recommend anyone that needs work done to come here. No dental experience is fun but they made it as easy and comfortable as possible!!!

I have been lucky with dentists in my lifetime, and had all good ones. I have to say, Dr. Gio is the best Ive ever had. Dr. Alexis is the bomb too, though shes not my dentist :) The patients at Winchester Dental just love the dentists and the support staff. It is a bright and happy place to go, and yes, I look forward to going to the dentist! :) I am sad to see the bad reviews, because I know they are written by some poor sport who never went to the practice. Someone maybe a competitor? I dont know.

Even though I live five hours away, I drive with my boyfriend (who lives 4.5 hours away) and we both see Dr. Gio and his hygienists for great dental care. In fact, Dr. Gio has studied extensive applications and finds way to help whole body health in his unique yet sophisticated approach to dentistry. Winchester is a great place to have supper after, and Dr. Gio is superior in his field. All the dentists that work there seem to be super talented as well.
