Our family has spent the better part of 5 weeks here in/out with my aging mothers issues. So we have witnessed many roles/procedures administered on all shifts. This is what was observed: Healthcare is not an easy profession and most often, unsung heros like many others in the helping/protective professions. Teresa (S504): One of my mothers favorites, I knew when I walked into the room this morning to find you again that everything would be okay. As a former nurse, my mom is difficult to tend to at times because she knows too much. But something about you calmed her, gained her respect from Day 1. Not an easy feat. Nichole (S504) - you are so smooth and competent that we barely noticed you in and out doing your magic - and this was during my mothers peak pain time frame. Definitely Charge Nurse material here, if not much more. Jane (OR) - you will never know how much my mom commended your expert care and interaction pre-op. Such a class act, plain and simple. AND from Mercy Hospital! PAs loss was definitely OVs gain. All I can say is, Wow. Sy (sp?) E323 - this incredible woman is so efficient that you make nursing seem easy, glamorous. I almost wanted to quit my job and join in but realized I just dont have your same caliber. Sure hope you are still around when I end up there. And then there is Tara (we followed her to just about every wing) - recently graduated, you are going to be, seriously, one of the rock star nurses. Pardon our awe but some people just have that "it factor and clearly you do - in spades. Lest we forget about Alison (S504) - Ortho Physicians Asst - we werent sure how to adequately recognize your talent other than to suggest that you go all the way to being an MD because, frankly, we thought you already were. Drs. Sahi, Jack and Bishop - no doubt you are the best of the best. But your Nurses/CNAs/PAs steal the show. Thank you, all, for your service. Bottom line: Fantastic care.

Mother in law 87 yr old fell and broke her hip. Went to ER at Overlake. Sat for hours before being seen. They admit her finally, MRI next morning they kept telling my very patient sister in law they would have the results in 2 hours. Over 9 hours of waiting finally the results. Ok, they were extremely busy, not a problem. She has surgery on a Sunday. They put her in the East wing. Her blood pressure was to be checked every 30 minutes. And 2 days after surgery, sit in a chair for 30 minutes. Sister in law in the medical profession amd the kindest most patient person ever, left for a few hours, came back amd saw mom was Still in the same chair 3 HOURS LATER!!!! She goes to nurses station and tells the head nurse her mom has not been moved in 3 hours. Head nurse of the wing snaps at her, WELL SHE SHOULD HAVE PUSHED THE RED BUTTON!!!! Mother in law is 87, confused and on pain meds. Didnt know where she was 1/2 the time let alone to push the RED BUTTON!!! Head nurse, Brenda comes in and has a total B attitude and almost yells, I DONT MAKE ENOUGH MONEY FOR THIS!!!!!! And says a few other choice things. Absolutely unbelievable!!!! And the nurses who work under the head nurse were just as rude as the head nurse. Steer clear of the East wing floor 3. Snoqualmie hospital and Swedish in Issaquah is amazing and they hire people who are compassionate and sincerely enjoy their jobs and like people. Too many choices out there for anyone to ever endure this type of treatment in an already stressful situation. Thank goodness she will be moved today to a rehab facility where she can start her road to recovery away from Overlakes angry staff on floor E 3

I had both of my sons here. I was thrilled with my doctor and the delivery rooms are excellent. All (as far as I know) are private rooms with soft coloring and all the equipment you need for whatever birthing method you choose. The "okay" rating comes in with the nursing staff. During the first delivery there were too many nurses that didnt need to be there (they were not trainees) and were so absorbed in trying to get an up close look that they were oblivious to my needs. My husband even had to rip a disposable camera out of their hands and throw it in the hall to stop them from capturing a "Kodak moment" we repeatedly told them we didnt want. The pediatric nurse who took him to weight and clean up was also rude and too rough and Im still proud of my son for showing her his opinion by peeing on her. :) During the labor with my second son, I didnt progress as fast as the nurses saw fit and my doctor had to speed things up for me to stop them from sending me home (AFTER he had informed them that I lived 45 minutes away and would probably deliver on the side of I-5 trying to make it back to the hospital) They were extremely rude after that and barely came in to check on me at all. Thank goodness for Gods guiding hand, because one managed to wander in right when my baby was making his grand entrance and I couldnt feel a thing (the anesthesiologist was fantastic!) and of course they hadnt bothered to check in forever.

We had our 3 kids here and the care was great from 2001-2009. In 2015 a week over due our doctor scheduled an appointment an a Monday at 6 am we arrived at 5 am an hr before our appointment due to my wife bleeding and 1 cm dilated at noon they sent us home they said that they are to busy and that at this time only admitting c-section delivery so we went home around 2 pm my Wife started having more contractions some mucus and blood discharge while waiting to be check in other familys come in and for the same reasons as us to be Induced had appointment at 3:30 pm I heard hospital staff telling them that their app got kicked back and will be addmited an hr later due to high demand so I was thinking that finally we would get help to if they are taking inductions so my wife gets to 6 pm she 3 cm dilated and they tell us that we still have to wait and that theyre only admitting c-section and that only 2 people ahead of us so we see about 6-7 familys go in and be addmited and only see 1 being told to go home besides us from 6 pm Monday night to 6 am Tuesday morning at this point 6:30 am Tuesday morning at this point we are hoping that the staff will do the right thing have a Heart and admit us 3 cm dilated and contractions every 7-10 minutes and in excruciating pain oh yea pain to manage pain they gave her 10 mg of morphine shot in Buttocks and said that is a routine med to give? For pain.

Do you like waiting 9 hours for a doctor? Do you like hearing people screaming pain and agony? Do you like the the stench of newly erupted feces? If you answered yes, then this is the hospital for you. Introducing Overlake hospital in Bellevue - PNWs finest. Incredibly understaffed and aside from the occasional nurse, completely incompetent, this hospital will get you in and out in a jiffy. In fact, its so efficient that I hear they might be removing the second, minute, and hour hands from their clocks and start counting their discharge time in days. Remember when you took your kids to go see Finding Dory this Spring and you saw that cute trailer for Zootopia with the Sloths at the DMV? Now try to picture those sloths as incompetent, lazy health care workers in a disgusting, dirty hospital, trying to get care for an emergency. If I were able to pitch my absolutely brilliant idea of a film to Ari Gold super agent, I would get a big red stamp and a green light because that film would be called, "OVERLAKE HOSPITAL IN BELLEVUE" Ok, now for the real deal. Weve been in here for 9 hours, watched a woman poo herself, heard a man scream at himself for 2 hours and now 9 hours later, we still havent seen a doctor who can help us. This is without a doubt the worst hospital in the Seattle area and they should be ashamed of themselves. If you have an emergency, go elsewhere, stat! STAY AWAY.
