After considerable thought, and consultation with my primary care physician, I opted for the "MRI Plus" diagnostic routine. This is a relatively costly ($900) elective procedure that checks for a wide range of potentially serious, and life threatening, medical conditions BEFORE the symptoms become apparent in routine physical exams. As a male in his 60s I had a typical array of chronic problems, like back pain, and I also had a family history with some very serious, acute medical problems. The staff at the Poulsbo facility was extremely friendly and helpful. MRI Plus is not a simple procedure, but it is completely painless, so you should allocate at least 2 hrs, which includes the Ultra Sound exam. A suggestion, be certain to explain fully to the Doctor, prior to start of the exam, any existing health problems that you and your primary physician might want afforded special attention (previous surgeries, shoulders, hip, neck, etc.) This will allow for some degree of alteration and amplification of the MRI scan itself. After the scans, the Radiologist will spend about 20 minutes with you reviewing the results. With his permission, you might want to consider making an audio recording as a way of note taking. You will be given a computer CD-ROM that will contain 1,200+ images from the exam, which can be consulted by your Primary Physician. The radiologist presumably will also be available for a consultation with your own doctor at a later date. One note of caution; exams of this type can reveal potentially serious medical problems that havent been previously diagnosed, thats one of the reasons for the procedure. That being said, be certain that you are emotionally ready for such a negative finding. Having a friend or loved one present when the results are presented should be considered as a personal option. Bottom line, is it worth the money? Yes, if you can afford it and have some "risk factors", I think it is worth the money. Some cancers are completely curable if found in their earliest stages. Before deciding on my exam I did a lot of research around the Seattle area. I couldnt find a facility that does a better job with this type of exam than InHealth Imaging.

I went to Inhealth Imaging for a digital ultrasound of my thyroid. Once the Dr. (shown in the above picture and the picture on the website) was finsihed he asked if I had any questions concerning the outcome of the ultrasound. I said yes and that "I didnt even know what a thyroid was or its function". The Dr. laughed at me and looked at his assistant, then proceeded to walk out of the room. So I decided to ask the assistant if she could explain and she said the best way to understand is "to google it." Thank you to the two employees who made my visit so lovely and the ultrasound so understandable.

I wanted to say a big "Thank You" to Lily at InHealth Imaging in Poulsbo. She was so kind, understanding and comforting during my recent CT scan. Absolutely professional, she was personable and empathetic as well. Thanks to the whole team, but especially to Lily.

Great equipment and staff. Plan to use when their services are required in the future. Hopefully they also are independent of a huge corporate umbrella with the attendant rise in healthcare costs passed on to the patients.
