On June 22, 2017 I visited the dental office to have a tooth filled. When Id been at the office several weeks earlier (my very first visit to this office), for teeth cleaning and x-rays, it was pointed out to me that a previously filled tooth (done decades ago when I lived in Florida), in the rear upper right needed to be refilled. However, on June 22, initially, for some reason, the dentist at State Valley Dental (who, however friendly, never introduced himself or the woman assisting him) thought it was a tooth on the upper left side, until I informed him otherwise. Finally, after re-x-raying the right side, the dentist realized that that is where the tooth needed to be refilled. To say, the least, that was an unsettling moment. (Reminded me of those unfortunate situations when a surgeon removes the wrong leg on a cancer patient!!) In any event, the dentist, himself, proceeded to drill out the old filling. But, once done with that portion of the procedure, without saying a word to explain that his assistant was actually going to fill the tooth, he simply left the room. The assistant prepared the filling material, again without a word of explanation as to the fact that she was completing the procedure. She had a really difficult time trying to get what I assume was some kind of mold around the tooth to be filled, to the point where her hands were actually unsteady. Then she proceeded to fill the tooth...or should I say, overfill the tooth. She ended up having to make quite a few attempts to drill out the overflow (I could not even begin to put my upper and lower teeth together at that point.) Finally, after an inordinate amount of time (Ive never even heard of it taking that long to simply fill a tooth), she completed the procedure. That evening I experienced considerable discomfort when any liquid or food (of any temperature) got near the newly filled tooth. And, when placing my tongue near the filled tooth, I could feel an opening/gap between it and the tooth in front of it. It felt almost like a chipped tooth. Since I was leaving on a flight out of state the next day, I was hoping that the sensitivity in that tooth would subside. It did not. As a result, I have experienced great discomfort when drinking or eating anything; in fact, I cannot eat on that side of my mouth at all without it hurting. I am returning to Ohio tomorrow, so I called the dental office to arrange an appointment for as soon after my return as possible. Inasmuch as this is a botched job that needs to be addressed right away, I assumed that I would be seen ASAP. How wrong I was! I was told that the absolutely earliest I could be seen is July 24!!! (Today is July 7.) I have already been in pain since the tooth was poorly filled on June 22 and now, despite the emergency nature of the situation, I am told I must wait several more weeks!!! This is totally unacceptable!

THE dentist knew that I was nervous, as I was having some teeth pulled, which I hadnt had done since I was a child. He gave me significant shots, but on one tooth I could still feel pain and it was a stubborn tooth to pull. (A worker in the office gave me her phone with some tunes, and I brought my headphones (not earbuds) to listen to music to help my anxiety. He seemed perturbed that I wanted to listen to music and goes What is THAT?). Anyways, a few minutes later, I had raised my hand to let HIM know I was feeling pain. He then yanked the headphones off my head, threw them in my lap and said "Stop with the drama." I was in shock. Instead of trying to understand my pain he said in a very snarky tone "Ive given you enough shots for an elephant." Obviously I had to let him continue because I had no choice to leave, with several teeth just out and one left. Then a few minutes later a worker must have appeared in the doorway and I thought I heard a faint question she wanted to ask him, as I heard her behind me. He must have waved her away because then he said "Why do women always feel the need to interrupt." I was just horrified !! Who says/does this ?? He continued working on my stubborn tooth that didnt want to come out and I just lay there, stuck and in pain and at his mercy. When done, he walked me to the front desk and acted all concerned for me (in front of others), saying Now you call us if there are any problems and heres an icepack for your jaw. So nice. Unfortunately, he did not show any concern or compassion just 20 minutes prior. I just wanted out of there. I was in so much pain. And of course, you pay up front, and it was a lot of $$, so I was even compelled to return to the abuser dentist a few weeks later. When I got home that day, however, I pulled my headphones out of the bag I had brought with me that day and there were pieces of my hair in the headphones. Thats how hard he pulled them off of me. And the whole time I was there, his assistant said nothing. Of course. This was a very horrible experience and I would never recommend this practice, never return. It is like an assembly line with no personal care. Just horrific. Ive had nightmares on this. In this modern day and age to have a dentist let you suffer...well that just says it all.

Worst dentist office ever! Pulled my wisdom teeth with no anesthesia! I bled for months! Do not go here! Gave me my fear of dentists! They wanted my money when they should have sent me to a surgeon but did it in the office instead! I had horrible pain and bleeding for months and had to drop out of college ! I wish I could give them NO stars!!!
