Dr. Slack was my OB and present for labor and delivery at Northwest Hospital. His partner, Dr. Joki, assisted him during my emergency cesarian. The experience was incredibly impersonal and I felt as though I was interrupting their whine-fest over hospital protocols during the procedure. While this was irritating, I had just become a mother so I let it go without a thought. I was released after 3 days to recover at home. For the next 10 days I continued to have severe swelling in my lower body, my milk never came in, I was white as a sheet, and felt unwell. During this time I had seen Dr. Slack twice and he expressed no concern. On the morning of the 10th day I phoned him to express concerns as I now had a high fever. He told me it was probably mastitis to which I urged that it wasnt as I had no other symptoms - hell, or milk. That evening I suffered a catastrophic hemorrhage that nearly killed me. I was rushed to the hospital for an emergency surgery and lost more than 6 units of blood. Even though I had a cesarian, I was suffering from retained placenta and had been internally bleeding for 10 days. Dr Slack and Dr Jokis lack of focus during my procedure almost left a father and newborn without their wife and mother. After I got out of the hospital, I had a follow up with Dr Slack. I cant even describe how awkward and unapologetic he was. I left his practice immediately after. He has since become the 24-hour emergency on-call OB for Valley Medical Center. If you end up with him, I urge you to request someone else.

I have been seeing Dr. Slack for 3 years and everyone has always been very helpful. In January 2009 I went for a check up. 4 months later I received a collection notice for the Dr. visit and the lab work. Apparently the billing person sent my bills (Dr. bill and lab work) to the insurance from 3 years ago. I called to attempt to work out the situation, and the Dr. bill was settled, but the lab bill was sent to collections because this person sent the insurance information from 3 years ago to the lab (even though I provided my new insurance information when I was in the office for the checkup). Its unfortunate that I finally found a Dr. that I really like but his staff is incompetent. Unfortunately I will no longer see this Dr. because of the fear that they may send something to the incorrect insurance and it will end up in collections.

I was extremely nervous about seeing a male doctor, and had never had a gyno exam before. Dr. Slack allowed my husband to stand in and hold my hand for my very first exam, and with my permission showed him exactly why I was having pain during sex. He also ordered bloodwork that identified my PCOS at 26. At 28 I called having lost 23oz of blood in 24hrs, he rushed me in, and within a day identified Adenomyosis. He was very careful to explain what it meant and how to control it. He has always been extremely attentive and gentle, and Ive never trusted a doctor as much. I cannot recommend him enough. I also have a rare genetic disorder, and he immediately let me know he wasnt familiar with it, and asked me questions to familiarize himself.

Dr Slack was excellent with my recent issues. My low review is a result of the company he selected to send out laboratory analysis to. They opted to threaten to send my bill to collections as part of the first bill sent to me for payment after my insurance covered most of it. I have never seen such an aggressive biller and will ask that they use a different lab in the future.

Dr. Slack delivered by daughter 23 years ago and has been my OBGYN ever since. He is sensitive, caring, and professional. As a mom of two working full time I would often forget what is going on with my body so it helps to have someone who takes time and is very thorough and asks the right questions. I have recommended him to friends and we all think the world of him.
