My family has been going to the Cortlandt Animal Hospital for 25 years, and words don’t do justice to the caliber of services that they provide. Our revolving zoo has had four cats and anywhere from one to three dogs at a time. From that happy first adoption checkup to the last somber moments, our animals- our family has always been treated with the utmost dignity and compassion. When we had a fearful dog, they allowed us to come in before hours so as to make her most comfortable. Dr. Whitehead saved my cat’s life two years ago, diagnosing him with diabetes, and educating my whole family about the diet that he needed. He’s spry as a kitten at fifteen, and no longer diabetic. I don’t think we have ever had a bad experience there; we’ve certainly had difficult moments and tough choices, but the doctors here have always been patient and understanding when it comes to explaining treatment options and costs. Above all, I say that we trust this office with our fur-babies: To find room in the appointment schedule for emergencies, to be welcoming and kind when we walk in the door, tears or smiles on our faces, to quickly find us an empty room to wait in if the animal is stressed, to handle our animal with care, to be thorough in every effort to examine them, diagnose them, save them, or give them their final peace. Dr. Berk has given this community something amazing, and his office has earned my loyalty for life.

My dog had the best care at Cortland Hospital. I didnt realize my dog, Neno, had 3 tumors and neither did his regular veterinarian. For over 6 years I took Neno to the same veterinarian and he gave him his regular shots and took care of his eyes but he failed on checking other possible conditions that my dog was facing. Neno is 11 years old but was behaving like a 15-year-old dog. The reason he was behaving this way was because he had 3 tumors and this was causing him to limp. I took Neno to Cortland Animal Hospital and the Veterinarian discover the problem right away. He was giving pain medications and had the surgery 2 days later. Neno is doing great and he now behaves 10 year younger :) Thank you Dr. Berk, Dr. Jillian, and all the staff at Cortland Animal Hospital for all the attention given to Neno. My family and I are very happy with your services and I would recommend your practice to everyone that cares for their pets. Thanks, Martha

I had no issues with the service they provided. The service was satisfactory. But I found a stray kitten and decided I wasnt going to let her die. They went ahead and conpletely overcharged me as if they were tying to make their lifes winning off of one client. I later brought her to another great animal hospital closer to nyc. When I showed the Doctor the receipt he told me I had been robbed blind and he was disgusted with amount they charged me. He said that it was a completely unreasonable and the fact that they really pushed me toward putting her in a sister hospital was a definite indication that they were trying to squeeze as much out of my wallet as possible. He proceeded to tell me that he wouldnt have charged me half of what they had charged for it was unnecessary. Overall this hospital only thinks of their wallet, not the animals that come to it. I will never personally return here, under any circumstances, nor recommend it to anyone.

Our Goldendoodle Fiona is a scared, handful. Fee was a re-home and while she has come a long way and can look and act like a "normal" happy dog, put her in a different, even slightly stressful situation and she will curl her tail under her, hide, growl when the stranger approaches and generally not allow anyone other than family to go near her. The Cortlandt Animal Hospital, especially Dr. Mary Wallace, has been wonderful in working with Fiona. Dr. Wallace explains everything, is patient and somehow gets Fionas exams and treatments done gently, quickly but never hurrying and last but not least, without making me feel like I have a troublesome dog. I greatly appreciate Dr. Wallace, the whole staff and being able to have such a welcoming place to take my girl Fee. Thank you. Cathy ONeill Knudson

have been going to Cortlandt Animal Hospital for at least 30 years. I have tried other hospital when I moved north but I always go back to Cortlandt. At one time I had 11 cats so I have had frequent interactions with the staff and doctors. I would trust any animal I own to Dr Leonard Berk and he has often added additional lives to my sick and dying felines. His staff is always friendly, kind and considerate. Although veterinary care is not inexpensive I know that with Cortlandt I wont have to go back two or three times to get the care I should have gotten on my first visit, something that has occurred at other animal hospitals I tried. I drive over 30 miles one way to bring my cats to them and they are worth it.

We have been using Cortlandt animal hospital for over 10 yrs. We had just bought our ST. Bernard puppy and had talked to a number of vets and the office staff. Cortlandt was the only one that treated our puppy as a giant breed dog (which has different needs than other dogs). The office staff is always a pleasure to deal with. Whether it is taking care of our pets at the beginning of their lives or at the end. the docs have been great. We have a cat now and she gets treated just as well as our larger doggies. We have also used Cortlandt for boarding services and while our dog was never happy when we left him, he was always well cared for.

I have been a client with Cortlandt Animal Hospital for at least the last 16 years. The staff truly makes me feel as if they love my pets as much as I do. They are treated so gently and lovingly. Dr. Wallace always takes the time to explain any issues or treatments, gives me options, and is very compassionate. The office staff is always great about getting me in for an appointment, quickly, and they always engage my pet, as well as me. I would recommend this animal hospital to friends.
