Both Ingrid and myself (John) have been customers of HVES for many years. My latest experiences revolve around 8 office visits surrounding 2 cataract operations performed by Dr John Nichols. I was completely satisfied with Dr Nichols and the entire technical staff. The staff was professional, understanding, efficient and friendly. Dr Nichols was the same and was a great help in deciding which type of IOL best suited my condition and lifestyle. The operations were performed at the Dutchess Ambulatory Surgical Center in Poughkeepsie. Their pre and post-op service was also outstanding. During the OPs Dr Nichols was outstanding at telling me what was going on. I have gone from 20/80 to 20/20 in both eyes!!! The only negative experience over the years at HVES is the handling of prescriptions. Even since E-Prescriptions, they sometimes never arrive at the pharmacy and require multiple phone calls to correct.

Dr, Verruto was a great doctor. I found him to be extremely personable and accurate with my eye exam. The problem I have with this office is with the office staff. I called to ask for a copy of my prescription to be emailed to me, and the receptionist explained to me that "email is just not something that they have." She could only fax me the information. Either this was a lie or else this office is is technologically on par with a french government office from the 1990s. Email is a standard means of communication in todays fast paced world and people demand that their medical offices employ technology that is at a minimum four decades old.

Posting for Marjorie Heller- "I had a very good experience with Dr John Nichols. I had cataract surgery performed on both eyes and the end results are amazing. I had been to other eye doctors who just kept changing my prescription and repeatedly stating that my cataracts were small but I could not see. Dr Nichols saved the day and more importantly my sight!"

After 3 weeks of waiting for an appointment they day before someone claimed they cancelled. So I drove 35 miles for nothing. I really needed this appointment . The front desk told me when I got there that the doctor they scheduled me with does not take my insurance. Do you think they should of come up with this problem sooner?

The doctors here are awesome. Too bad the front office staff is completely horrible and rude. If you want any type of information from them, you will never get it. If you ask any questions, you are answered with an attitude like you would never expect. Sorry for anyone who has had to deal with them.

Contrary to previous reviews its been rather pleasant experience. Not to mention I came alone with both my daughters 2 and 5 who were given toys on the way out. Clean office lovely staff doctors knowledgeable and great. Does get busy both its a fast and quick procedure once your patient.

Nothing good about this place. The staff is rude. The office that I was in had no outlet cover and the wait was over an hour to even get called in. And now....They are claiming I didnt pay my copay which in fact I have proof I did. All around service sucks will not go back!!!!
