Just experienced the most disgusting lack of humanity from the head of admissions and head of the Acute Rehab facility. They denied admission for my Mom, who has a brain cancer affecting her mobility, on the basis that Medicare would not pay for her but after 10 hours checking I found out that was not true, It took me 3 days and countless phone calls to finally get the Head of admissions to call me back and after not being able to defend that position she finally said she did not have to answer to me or prove anything to me, Then I got a follow up call from the head Dr who said he was in charge for 25 years, and with the greatest lack of compassion I have ever experienced told me he apologized for the miss communication (lying) from the head of admissions but in fact he was the one who denied her for other reasons in the interest of the Facility and then reiterated the same position that he did not have to give me the reason, What that cold hearted bastard was not intelligent enough to understand is that when his head of admissions tells a cancer patients case worker that Medicare will not pay for her acute stay in their rehab facility, then that case worker will believe it and not aggressively pursue other acute facilities which her doctors feel is in her best interest. I only hope that if anyone reading this is a supporter of this hospital they put their money where there is some compassion instead.

I was a patient for 3 nights the nursing staff and their support staff wonderful.however the doctors were not good at sharing information I was admitted with high insulin levels.elevated blood pressure and chest pain They ruled out heart attack they did the same tests over and over.nothing new .earlier I mentioned the nursing staff one snippy male nurse gave me a lecture on stress and anxiety not a doctor not qualified .he gave me my meds no gloves no cup handed them to me one visit at a time.the cardiologist gave me a diagnosis one day.the following day said no not angina.possible thin layer of fluid around the heart.never to be seen again.the internal medicine doctor scolled me for reporting her.I would never recommend Glen Cove Hospital to anyone.I have been in hospital before never an experience like Glen Cove Hospital.

I had major surgery here between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I could not believe the quality of care I received! This hospital exceeded my expectations in so many ways. Everyone was so pleasant and compassionate, from the top surgeons to the janitors. It is obvious that they are committed to giving their patients the best medical treatment possible. And the hospital is immaculate, which is so important for infection control. My daughter needs minor inpatient surgery over the summer and this is absolutely where she will be going!
