Watch out, this vet will NOT be there when your pet and you need him most. We have had two dogs, Merlin and Henry with this vet for about 3 years. We did all regular check ups, to the day, when we had an emergency with Merlin who could barely walk. We called the Vet and were told that everything is booked and there is no time. After convincing the assistant that this is an emergency, she agreed and notified us that to see the doctor we had to pay an emergency fee. We immediately agreed. 2 Minutes after this phone call, we just had carried Merlin to the car, she called and cancelled the appointment, stating there would not be time and we should go to another vet. It did not help begging her that we wanted to see the doctor familiar with Merlin. So it is obvious what happened – they conducted a financial calculation and figured it will bring more money to see the scheduled patients (not emergencies) then helping Merlin. Money seems to be passion there, not the welfare of animals in need. Although many things might evolve around money, most of us will agree that the wellbeing of our pets in an emergency should not be one of them. Surprisingly when we picked up our papers they asked how Merlin is doing – if they would have really cared they would have seen him even for only 5 minutes the day before.

I am so thrilled I found this hospital. I do not live anywhere near them and travel 40 minutes from my home to take my dogs and cat here. Dr. Thayer and his staff are THE most compassionate people I have been fortunate enough to meet. The hospital has absolutely no doggy or kitty smell when you walk in. The floors are gleaming and so are the clinic rooms. Everyone there makes me feel like my animal is the most important animal in the world. The treatment is like no other. When one of my dogs was in its last days with cancer the treatment and caring was beyond anything I have experienced. And when my dogs final moments arrived I cannot tell you how meaningful, compassionate and kind each person treated both me and my beloved dog during that final time. I cannot say enough about this hospital. In my humble opinion it is one of the best around!

Not enough stars I can grant Hartsdale Veterinary... A gem of a small business with long deeply rooted community ties. For nearly a decade, all my past and present companions received comprehensive, professional, competent care from Dr. Andrew Thayer and staff. All types ... wellness, screenings, and urgent care. When the time came for each of my companions to take their last breath, it was under the trusted and compassionate hand of Dr. Thayer. With each passing, Dr. Thayer granted a donation to the Baker Institute for Animal Health at Cornell University in their memory; How is that for compassion and advocacy? Visit Hartsdale Veterinary... your peace of mind and your companions will thank you.

what a ripp off this place is!! if you enjoy throwing money away-please give it to me. My dog needed the remaining puppy shots that are required @ 1yr. We blindly called to make an appointment and curiously asked what it might cost...$360.00 estimate!!! I dont care about the money after-all its for my dog but I gotthe shots for $98.00 and that included a box of frontline!! This place loves to overbill and take advantage of your love for your pet-what a great sales (ripp off) oriented practice. Compassion for money as you will read below-how much did they pay??

We have gone through all the phases of pet ownership with Dr. Thayer. He helped us cope with the medical needs, and loss, of our aging dog. Then he was even better in giving us direction with our new puppy. (A few years later) The office is even cleaner than most human physicians offices. I cant say enough good things about this office!!!

STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF! Was told the price for a first time puppy visit would be 79 and was charged 130. They also gave my puppy an extra shot that she had two days prior, despite seeing her vaccine schedule with the dates. See full review on yelp.
