This review comes with much delay. Last summer, I hurt my back and was diagnosed about a month after the injury with a herniated disc in my lower back. The doctors described it as a large herniation. After months of chiropractic care which gratefully kept me on my feet thru a very busy time at my job, I started seeing Chris at Next Step. Chris made it clear from day one that we were going to figure this out and get me back to running, hitting the gym, and moving around as I did prior to the injury. After about 6 months of visits, 3X a week, I finally "graduated" in June. Chris one on one care is something of great value. Each day, Chris watched and helped me along on the different stretches, exercises, etc. Most importantly, Chris provided a great routine for me to do at home. I am still doing that routine each and every morning but I can gladly say, I spend most of my day pain-free. Having the ability to avoid surgery on a large herniation is truly a blessing but I know that had I not spent six months with Chris, I would have likely paid a visit to the OR months ago. I have recommended Chris to anyone Ive spoken to in need of physical therapy and I will continue to do so. One day, Chris pointed out to me that I had never provided him with my MRI scans. He was simply treating me based on the pain/discomfort I described and the mobility challenges that he saw when working with me. Needless to say, his treatment plan was excellent and just the other day, I was out on the street running. I intend to get back into the gym in the coming days.

CarolR, Westbury, NY. Excellent,...saved me from orthopedic surgery. When I began physical therapy with Chris, I had injuries to disks in neck and a compressed nerve in my left elbow, combined with left carpal tunnel. I was unable to do the simplest daily functions with my left hand, like turning the key to open my house door. I had constant numbness and tingling in my left arm and hand, and neck pain. When I began P.T. I was barely able to hold a 1 pound weight in my left hand for 10 seconds, 3 times. now do that exercise with a 9 pound weight, 50 times, and the numbness and tingling in my left hand and arm are gone. This has made a huge difference in my daily life and I would highly recommend Chris Ostling, PT, DPT, owner of Next Step PT to anyone who wants to improve their physical health. The one-on-one attention from the same highly experienced professional makes the difference!

On behalf of my 82-year-old father, I am writing this review as per his comments (not direct quote): I really like the therapists that worked with me. They worked me hard, but made it fun. My daughter wanted me to have therapy to work on my balance, mobility, and getting in and out of chairs with ease. After 6 sessions, I feel stronger and better able to move around in my home and the community. I no longer "plop" into my recliner. I only use the walker if Im fatigues or need to walk long distances. Around the house, I only use the walker or a cane when Im really tired, otherwise totally independent. I highly recommend Next Step Physical Therapy. They worked well with my insurance company and did not push for more session -I was discharges once I met the goals, which was earlier than expected (less sessions that initially projected).

Ryan, from Hicksville, came to Next Step with 3 herniated discs and unable to bend or move without pain. Dr. Chris did a private evaluation that was not only discrete but very accurate and pinpointed the movements that triggered the pain. This evaluation was used to create a personal plan customized just for my injury that would generate the best results. Every session was handled by Dr. Chris, and not just a part time helper, and usually only 2 patients at a time, so care and attention were at its best. The results were phenomenal, pain decreased and mobility increased and Im in better shape now than before i even came through the door. Ive seen numerous chiropractors and therapists, and none can compare to the service you get here. Hopefully I wont need a therapist in the future, but if I do, I know where Im going, Next Step.

I have been to several PT clinics in Hicksville, and this one is BY FAR the most unique and best experience Ive had so far. I recieved 1 on 1 time with the therapist for the entire treatment- he never left my side! Unlike most PT gyms where they give you some exercises and throw some heat or ice on you and then leave to go see another patient, at Nextstep, the therapist was there to instruct, monitor, and really pay attention to me the entire time. The program he gave me specifically addressed MY needs and problems, and wasnt just some generic "protocol" treatment unlike other clinics Ive been to. I would HIGHLY reccommend this clinic above any other ones in the area because of the personal investment the therapist put into me and the results I saw.

I have a bad back since I am 15 years old. However, it has not bothered me to a significant degree in many years. As a "Certified Tennis Teaching Professional, I spend many hours on Tennis Courts. It did bother me for a few weeks when teaching or playing tennis, but it was tolerable. Then, after one session I found I was barely able to walk. The pain was excruciating. I contacted Christopher Ostling of Next Step Physical Therapy and was taken to the office by my son. I was barely able to walk, no less drive. After being treated by Chris, I walked out of the office nearly pain free! I have been treated by Chiropractors and many Physical Therapists over the years. Never have I experienced such immediate relief!

I started physical therapy with 2 months of shoulder pain, limited movement in my arm and decreased muscle strength. I was unable to sleep at night and unable to perform simple tasks like getting dressed. After 2-3 days of therapy the pain had already started subsiding. I had a progressive decrease in the pain and increased motion and strength in my arm. After 10 visits with out this use of medication I was able to regain full function of my shoulder. I would recommend Chris to anyone in need of Physical Therapy. He is attentive your your problems and creates a plans that will work for you. The staff is friendly and professional.

Cecilia from Hicksville says she had bad shoulder pain and could not lift arm over her head and had trouble putting on seat belts etc. After a few weeks of therapy the pain is 99 % gone and mobility has been restored. Next Step is wonderful, Chris and the staff are professionals. They listen and respond appropriately to what you are saying and do not give textbook answers.Chris explains everything in a way that is easily understood. I highly recommend Next Step if you need physical therapy.

My 91 year old dad had back surgery in August. Looking for the perfect physical therapy without a huge institution, I found Next Step Physical Therapy. Dad was taught ways to move, get up from a chair, etc, to fit dads needs, not just a same old kinda basic physical therapy place. One on One therapy, is Next Step Physical Therapy. Dad never worried about getting the therapists attention. Chris was always there by his patients side. Concerned and caring is the ultimate goal here.
