My 14yr old son is currently in the adolesent unit. I find the staff very professional, extremely courteous, sympathetic, understanding, extremely patient. This is a difficult time for a parent, also for a child being seperated from each other. I find the social workers so far extremely knowlegable, and the psychiatrist extremely unbelievable. My son came from a residential group home where all they knew was to drug these children and keep them sedated he was on 8 pills and gained alot of weight weighing over 200 lbs. The psychiatrist there is doing everything to help my son so that he is not being overdosed in meds, to stop him from sleeping in school, drooling all over the place which by the way is mortifying to my son. The psychiatrist is really lowering his meds, putting him on some awesome medications which will take the time but it is worth the time, wait if this can work, help him with school, church. I love that they do research, trials and are so advanced again my son was taking 16 pills a day and only 14. No where else would anyone try something inventive like this to try to help a child. I give Holliswood ***10 stars*** Floral Park, Ny

I was admitted there. It was ghetto. People constantly fought. They dont feed you much during meal times. If you dont have your own shampoo you had to use the hand soap in the shower and the door to the bathroom never closed. Also it stunk. And if you do get in a fight they put u in a "quiet room" a room of just 4 brick walls 1 door and a nasty mattress on the floor. Then instead of talking to you they give you some type of medicine to calm you down. Horrible place.

I went there last year and the only problems I had there, was that u had to use a shoe or something to keep the bathroom door closed when u had to use it and the fact that u had to use one of the 2 pay phones on the unit to make a phone call and it had to be before a certain time otherwise it was a great place to be depending on ur situation

This hospital is a ghetto shithole. Go to LIJ. Food sucks and there are always fights. They misdiagnosed me with depression, adhd, sleep disorder, and mood disorder when it was really just school anxiety. And they dont let you go outside
