Pound Ridge Veterinary Center: Warm, professional, caring, compassionate -- and most of all -- extremely knowledgeable and up on all new relative information. I truly believe that our 10-year-old lab is always in the best of hands and I never feel that any of the doctors are trying to push products or medicine on me. So many times, Lainie is sent on her merry way without any medication at all. While she was still a pup -- I took her to 2 other veterinary centers. The first couldnt keep track of whether she really had an appointment that day or not and were quite impersonal. The other vet overcharged royally for each visit, sent me home with medication our dog didnt need, and tried each time to get me to purchase products. That vet betrayed any confidence I could have in him. PRVCs prices are reasonable -- just look around! I highly recommend PRVC -- Im comfortable to have our dog treated by any of their staff members, and trust their call on all matters relevant to our dog. I

I went in for a Mandatory pre-spay visit. The visit cost me $280 for blood work and a "check up". I had just adopted my dog and told them I did not need a "check up" because I had one a month before with all of her shots in FL where she was adopted. I was shocked and upset and they did nothing but say "But we are really good", I expect that you do a good job anywhere. Then I asked for an estimate of the spay cost. They estimated $650.00. I have a 16 pound dog. I have been quoted $300 total at other places and the Humane Society does spaying for under $200. That is what we will be doing. I feel robbed, taken advantage of b/c I live in the area that is very wealthy but we are not all wealthy. Regardless no one should feel taken advantage of. They are nice people but you should get the cost upfront if you dont want a huge shock. Again I feel sick to my stomach, I just dropped about $300 for no reason at this place.

I am stunned at the vicious nature of the three reviews on this page. My experience has been quite the opposite. The folks at the Pound Ridge Vet Center have been caring for my cats and dogs for 25 years. I have tried other vets but always come back because of the EXCELLENT QUALITY OF CARE AND CARING OUR ANIMALS RECEIVE. Our first dog lived to 19.5 years, even after being hit by a car and having a back leg removed. Dr. Kaddatz and his staff gave her excellent care and an extra 7 years of life after the accident. I sympathize with others who have lost animal friends. It is patently unfair that our pets/companions dont share our lifespan and very sad when they leave us...but it is part of nature, immutable and real, and it is pointless to blame the doctor for the illness. I have never known the people who work here to do any less than 100% to help an animal. I recommend them without reservation.

We have a number of animals (alpacas, emus, chickens, ducks, rabbits, mini horses, tortoise, parrot, 2 dogs and 2 cats ! We have had a farm vet for many years who is incredible. However, about 7 - 8 years ago, we switched from one vet in our area to Pound Ridge for our dogs and cats. By the way, I have "owned" dogs and cats my entire 61 years. It is our entire familys opinion that Pound Ridge Vet Center provides excellent care for dogs and cats. We cannot comment about PRVC for farm animals as we have had no experience in that arena. However, we can all attest that for dogs and cats, they have provided our animals with exemplary care. The facility is immaculate. They have a large and professional staff. During regular work hours they have been wonderful. I dont believe they are available for overnight emergencies but for every day care and surgeries, we feel they are wonderful.

On a Saturday, I rescued a cat with a massive infection from a parking lot in Scotts Corners. I put this cat in my car and drove down the block to PRVC. There, she was immediately looked at - and diagnosed. Because she was so ill, I left her for the weekend. She needed surgery for her infection, and the veterinary staff took extremely good care of her. The following Tuesday, I took her home. Tinka wouldve died if she hadnt received immediate care from PRVC. I trust my animals to the staff and have been very pleased with all the services - including being able to make an emergency appointment - which all animal "stewards" ultimately need at one time or other. I also appreciate the e-mail reminders for upcoming appointments. Worth it.

I have been taking my animals to Pound Ridge Veterinary Center for almost 25 yrs. My vet of choice is Dr. Renee Bayha who has been expertly and compassionately caring for my dogs and cats since she started in practice. Dr. Bayha is so loving towards the animals and so understanding of their people parents. I would highly recommend her to any one. When Dr. Edward Fleishli owned the facility I used to trap, neuter and release the feral cats in my neighborhood. He was such a kind man and used to operate on the ferals for cost making it affordable for me. I could also bring the feral kittens to him and he would neuter them at no cost and put them up for adoption. He was a truly compassionate vet.

Have used the PRVC for more than thirty years. We have had many cats during that time (currently have three). The doctors and staff members go the "extra mile" in their attention and follow-up. No pressure to buy certain products or try procedures--just good, practical advice. The quality of care is exceptional---we are confident that we fully understand any issues and are re-assured that our cats are being properly evaluated and treated. When one of our dear cats has reached the end of life, the compassion and assistance from the staff at PRVC has meant so much to us. They genuinely care about the animals they come to know. We have felt like "family".

We have been using Pound RIdge Vet for 10 years or more. We started with our last dog who lived to a ripe old age of 15, and he was a large dog. They took incredible care of him and were so helpful when we had to make the painful decision to put him down. We are now going with our new dog and again, great service, friendly staff.... We have seen every single veterinarian at the practice and every single one has been terrific and very knowledgeable. I am not sure who those people are who left bad reviews...Dont read them, it is from over 2 years ago and obviously they are incorrect!

Weve used PRVC for over 20 years of owning 4 cats, 2 parrots and now "Oliver," our 3 year old Australian Shepherd. The doctors are excellent, thorough in their exams, show devotion to their practice and empathy toward their "patients". The facility is immaculate and technically up-to-date. The staff is both cordial and efficient -- always ready to fit us in when theres trouble (like Oliver swallowing a candy bar -- wrapper and all.) Their email reminders when shots and check-ups are due is reassuring and weve found their prices on medications are competitive with the Internet.
