I needed to find an optometrist in the area after going a few years without updating my prescriptions. I decided to give the Mt. Hope Rochester Optical a try based on a friends recommendation. I was really impressed even just walking in. The interior is very inviting with clean contemporary design. Everyone was really helpful and welcoming from Rueben at the front desk to Dr. Chang who conducted my exam and provided me with an updated prescription. They gave me pretty competitive pricing on contact lenses compared to online suppliers and Id definitely recommend this place to a friend and plan to make it my regular spot.

My wife and I went into the store earlier today (8/19/17) so that she could purchase a new pair of frames. Within 5 minutes of being there she was made to feel like she couldnt afford anything in the store. She was asked for her insurance information several times and promptly shown the shelves containing the childrens frames as well as the red labeled "cheaper pairs." We didnt catch the gentlemans name who "assisted" her. However, he can certainly do with some implicit bias training. Simply asking, "how can I help you?" Then pointing my wife to ALL of the lenses available for women would have sufficed.

Went in for a contact lens fitting, but the optometrist (maybe optician?) seemed to not know what she was doing. Doing several tests repeatedly and forgetting to open and shut things on the phoropter. It left me with little confidence for the rest of the experience and I left thinking I should get another eye exam. Staff also took an inordinate amount of time to do simple tasks like scanning ID cards and dealing with the few patients that were in the office that day. Very different and more frustrating experience than any of the visits to other eye doctor that Ive had in the past.

Ive ordered a glasses in this store almost a month ago, and it still not ready yet. I dont know why it took so long for them to prepare a glasses. Ten days ready promise is a joke.
