I have read all the reviews of this business and they are all true. I had a pleasant experience with Dr. Stanley Smith. My visit with him has been the best since I had been going to that dentist for 6 years. Overall, I would not recommend anyone to visit this dentist, thay are all about money. The workers are very disrespectful, VERY DISRESPECTFUL! They will shout and you and be rude to you right in the presence of other patients. I had an experience once when I did my wisdom tooth surgery and they charged me a couple hundred dollars to have the procedure done, claiming that the insurance company does not pay for the service. Two years after my reviewed my insurance statements and saw that the insurance company covered my surgery in full. I had to claim a reimbursement. On another occasion i went to have my teeth cleaned and they told me I needed some filling done. I did the filling and had sensitivity for months with one tooth. Six month later I went for cleaning again and the same tooth I had previously filled, they told me I needed it filled again!! Had I not known I woud have done the filling twice. They are unscrupulous and love to overcharge and I do believe they create claims just to earn extra money. The worst expericence I had that made me decide to not return to that company and write this review is I stopped by the office for a statement of my account. When I was given the statement, there was a credit balance on the account. I inquired about the balance and was told that Marcus who can explain, will not be in until the following Wednesday. I was not satisfied with the response so I hung around. I saw one of the workers that I was familiar with and asked her. She told me that she will ask Marcus, (I thought Marcus was not in?) Marcus told her the figure is incorrect and she cannot give me back the papar. I told her I needed the paper regardless until they send me a correct statement. Theresa (the lady I asked for assistance) started telling me off that the statement is incorrect and she cannot give it to me. I said although the statement is incorrect, I totally understand but I still would like to have the statement until they correct it. Dr. Guerrino, the man behind this name, saw me and talking loudly while walking told them to call 911 on me. I was not shocekd that he would say that because although he is the owner he is verrrrrrry rude himself!! I have seen him speak to his workers disrespectfully and order them as if they are below him. It goes to show that if the boss is rude to his patients, surely the workers will be rude too and feel it is justified. I would never return to this business clearly they are unethical, dishonest and disrespectful. I would not want a business to benefit from me and not appreciate or respect me.

I received a resin filling from one of their dentists. This is the 3rd filling I received from this office. In 2008 I was charged $100.00 per filling. My insurance paid $50.00 per tooth and I paid the remaining $50.00. Now on August 20th 2010 I was charged $225.00 for the same procedure. Cigna again will cover $50.00 per tooth and this left me with an out of pocket cost of $175.00. This is a cost increase of 125% from 2008. Prior to this procedure I confirmed with billing manager (Margarete) that I would be charged the same fee that I was charged in 2008. I was expecting to be charged $100.00 per tooth for the filling. After having my insurance pay $50.00, I would be responsible for the remaining $50.00. I was not told until after the procedure that the amount I would be charged was $225.00 for the filling. This meant that I would owe $175.00 out of pocket. I also confirmed the charges with Cigna, I was charged $100.00 in 2008. I think that it is outrageous that there could be an increase of 125% in a period of not even two years. If I had known that I would have to pay $175.00 after what my insurance covered, I NEVER would have went through with the procedure that I am not even sure was necessary. This dental practice lies and tells you that you need procedures when you do not. I have tried to correct this situation with the office. I have also sent a letter to the doctor personally. I have called several times and spoken with at least 3 different people, 2 of whom are managers. I have not received a response from my last call 2 weeks ago from Marcus the manager of several locations. The staff is beyond rude to me and they virtually hang up on me. I have asked again and again for a refund on my credit card. I should not have to pay a 125% increase for a procedure I had done twice already in that office. They lie and just try to make all the money they can at the expense of the consumer. In this practice you never see that same doctor. The staff is always different. They are beyond rude and inconsiderate. Also Dr. Guerrino has several charges against his license, this I found on the NY licensing website. Many times in the office I personally witnessed patients arguing with the staff over billing problems. To top it off I am now having problems with sensitivity on the tooth where I got the filling. If this continues I will have to go and have another doctor look at it. I surely hope there is not a problem with the work done. Never in any of my years of going to the dentist did I have people tell me I needed so many procedures. They are unethical and liars. The customer service is horrific. I have now reported them to the better business bureau. What they do is wrong.

I went Im for a routine cleaning and afterwards they took me into a private office and frightened me into thinking that I needed thousands of dollars of additional work that needed to be done immediately. I told them multiple times I didnt have the money for it and also I was moving out of state soon. The lady just kept saying that the doctor said "It NEEDS to be done." After speaking with her I felt that I was going to lose all my teeth! She coerced me into taking out a loan. After hearing the monthly payments on it i even told her I cant, its too much for me. She would not let me leave without altering payment options so that "I could afford it." I just wanted to leave. I felt very pressured. It was a very anxiety producing experience. Especially because I only expected to go in for a cleaning. I called a few days later to cancel the additional services they had scheduled which included pulling a tooth and placing the bone for an implant they said i needed. I later found out that they never canceled the loan from the bank to perform all these services. Even though I never received them. I am currently getting a lawyer to dispute these charges. Be warned, these folks are very pushy and will pressure you to receive whatever services cost the most and they will not take no for an answer. Your teeth are YOUR teeth and you should be able to go in for a cleaning without leaving feeling like youve been violated.
