When I first got to Lubbock five and half years ago I called quite a few veterinary clinics just to see which receptionist had the kindest sounding voice, Key Animal Clinic won. I believe the person I talked to all those years ago was Rachel, but I could be wrong. In the past I have been shamed to the point of tears by a vet*, so I was nervous about my first visit to the clinic with my cat of three years, nervous up until the point I met the vets Dr. Priya A. Dahanukar and Dr. Emily N. Shockey. They were calm and comfortable around cats. The whole experience was great. When I went up front to pay, they gave me a first time customer discount and some free advantage (they also did this when I brought in a new cat several years later . . . I guess the cats are the real customers ;-). I also met Dr. Key once before I had to move and in that brief visit he gave me a number of a person to interview for an article I was interested in writing! Over the five and a half years I went to Key Animal Clinic I never had a bad experience and I never had to wait that long to get in, which is nice, considering the mixed (cat and dog) waiting room. If I were a millionaire I would hire these vets as my personal on call cat healers, since Im not a millionaire Ill settle for writing them a stellar review. Switched from Lubbock Animal Clinic to Key Animal Clinic earlier this year. I brought in my new 4 month old puppy and my 2 1/2 year old dog for a routine check up. After waiting 45 minutes to be taken back, and $250 dollars later, I was displeased with my first visit. The front staff even told me that the doctor that we saw was notorious for racking-up charges on peoples vet bills. I decided to give them another try, and brought my puppy back for her last round of shots on a Friday. She started experiencing vomiting and diarrhea the day after the shot. I called Monday morning at 8am to try to get her in as a "emergency visit" and I was told that they had physical exams in the morning and couldnt get me in until later that day. I have been to several vet clinics, and this one by far is the worst Ive been to in Lubbock. They are always running behind, their front staff are never friendly.After 2 bad experiences, I made the choice to go somewhere else.

I moved to Lubbock in 2005 and since then I have always taken all my babies to Key, they are awesome, friendly, caring the know us as soon as we walk in and remember our pets names. I love this office and will never go anywhere else. Front and back staff always handle my babies like their own with loving care. We love them so much we recommend them to all our friends. Dr D was wonderful. I took my dog in to be neutered. She spent time getting to know my dog, she gave good suggestions, she noticed his fleas, offered an exterminator, tested him for Tic Fever, and allowed me to the back to see when he would be housed. The staff back there (ALL OF THEM) were wonderful. I was offered 2 free kittens. I took pictures and promised to show my friends. Everybody worked well as a team, and I had no problem leaving my little dog behind.

They were so nice and friendly. The appointment was super fast, I even got blood work test results moments after taking the test (other vets usually take at least a day to get this information back to you). On top of all their professionalism and friendliness, the appointment was very affordable. Way more so then the past few vets Ive been to. I will definitely be going back and recommending this place to others.

Beware of this place!! Took our pet for surgery to have her fixed and they lost her!!! Police officer found her running across 50th to copper caboose and gave her back to us!! She had just had surgery and was stiched up! The staff acted like nothing happened and didnt even acknowledge they screwed up!! Very irresponsible and not trustworthy!

Everyone in the office was always friendly and the atmosphere was very comfortable. The doctors always took the time to address any concerns I had and were great with my senior Lhasa Apso. Dr. Key also encouraged me to call with any other concerns, which I appreciated. All positive experiences here in the six years that I lived in Lubbock!

I have been seen by every Dr. in this facility and they are all warm and professional. I see Dr. D and Dr. Shockey the most though and they are fantastic! They explain everything in detail, they make sure I actually understand, and they work with my finances. I always feel safe leaving my animals here if needed. I definitely recommend them!

I will not being taking my cat back. We get there and the front staff was fine, but when I got into the room the Dr. Key came in right away. The one major problem was that the treated my cat HORRIBLE. He was so rough and didnt care about her. He just kept being rough with her, I wanted to hit him. I will never go back to this vet clinic.

I take my dogs here. I love the vets, always willing to answer the healthcare needs of my pets. I also take my female dog to get her nails trimmed once a month (I call it her manicure) Always quick and easy and not overly expensive. Id recommend this place to anyone looking for a new veterinarian

Dr Shockey is so sweet and thorough. I trust Key Animal clinic with routine visits but also with complicated cases. I had a puppy who had severe problems and Dr. KEY was able to help her. Very good vet. Quick turn around, shirt wait, not too pricey. Best in Lbk!
