Where do I begin? Miss-diagnosis and no diagnosis. On 3-15-16 we brought our dog in because of yellow discharge in one eye that wasnt clearing up. They did a tear test (Schimer) and said his tear production was basically non-existent. I told the vet that he had this before and it always cleared up. I asked if it could be a blocked tear duct. He said NO, the tear ducts are destroyed and he will be on these $70 a tiny bottle eye drops 2 times a day for the rest of his life. After a few weeks, and the discharge had cleared up, I noticed his eyes looked juicy every time before I put the lubricating drops in, so I had them do the tear test at Freeman - Fritz and they tested normal. He hasnt had the eye drops for 2 1/2 months now, and I examine them every time I give him his insulin shot. UPDATE: ITS BEEN 7 MONTHS NOW AND HIS EYES ARE STILL JUICY! Which brings me to part 2 : We marked on the admitting paper that the dog had excessive thirst. We also told the vet that he had become very lethargic and that his breath was sweet smelling. We didnt know if it was maybe because of the eye problem, and the vet didnt address any of the symptoms and didnt seem concerned, so we proceeded with the medicated eye drops and lubricating eye drops for the next 10 days (the length of time prescribed for the medicated drops). The dog got sicker and sicker while we administered the eye drops. Then I went on-line and googled excessive thirst, lethargic, and sweet breath and all the postings said DIABETES, DIABETES, DIABETES! We called Freeman Fritts, and thank God they had an opening. His blood sugar was 360 and they said anything over 100 was high. By this time he had pancreatitis and he was very, very ill. He almost died in those 10 days since we took him into Hoegemeyer Clinic. But thanks to the loving care at Freeman Fritts for 5 days, he has fully recovered. The sad thing is that anybody with a computer and internet access could have diagnosed this probable case of diabetes, but the "professionals" at Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic totally missed it on both counts. Anybody need a $70 bottle of eye drops? UPDATE . . . UPDATE . . . UPDATE ITS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND ABE IS DOING FINE! HIS EYES ARE STILL JUICY AND HIS DIABETES IS UNDER CONTROL. THANK YOU FREEMAN FRITTS.

These guys are the Best! February this year my 5 year old italian greyhound Valentino Broke his front leg (snapped into) it was a bad day and a saturday. One call and the owner i belive it was met us at the clinic where tino was sedated and put to sleep in order to set his leg and splint it. The veterinarian explained my options and their were three, the first two may would have worked but not the ideal options. Cheaper they were but possibly not the best result when the bone had healed. I choose to plate and screw the leg and had to wait until monday when a veterinarian that speciazlizes in this came to Hoegmeyer clinic. I could not be more happy with the results as tino is as if nothing had every happened to him. The staff and both Veternarians were very professional and fully explained everything from pre post and after care when we returned to South Carolina. Kudos to the Staff and both veteranrians!

In March we were traveling across country from Florida to California in our motorhome, and our elderly cat had a seizure and became blind and barely functioning and could not walk or balance. We called ahead and stopped in at Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic and the doctor quickly diagnosed her with high blood pressure and she was also getting too much of her thyroid medication. She made the trip home to California, and with great thanks and kudos to the doctor our cat has completely revived and regained her vision and is back to a normal life. I highly recommend this clinic as their diagnosis and prescription was right on the money. Rick & Suzanne Walnut Creek CA

Great care for our dogs! We lost one dog 2 years ago to cancer when we were new to area. They provided her with medication to keep her comfortable from pain until the end. They have cared for our other 2 dogs since then and recently lost one of our dogs to a water moccasin bite with bites to the other dog. They cared for the surviving dog overnight and even did followup calls. Both dogs we lost were sent to Paws from Heaven and returned to us in beautiful simple urns. They did not ask me for payment when I brought the dogs in because I was so distraught. We are very pleased with all the care we have received for our dogs.

strongly recommend not visiting this vet. the service is decent at best. we boarded our dogs and asked for bathing nail clips etc.. nothing done to standard there was an attempt at charging for services our dogs did not receive. we were charged $75 for bathing our shitzu and grooming. they did not cut the hair on his head or tail, just his body. thats pathetic... so take this as you wish but my dogs whom I care deeply about will not be put through the misery of this establishment again. do yourself a favor and find someplace that cares about animals more than money.

We are fairly new residents to Kerrville and did not have an established vet. Our dog suffered a dog bite from another dog on a Sunday afternoon. I was worried that this smaller town would not have any emergency vets on call on a Sunday but I took my changes and called Hoegemeyer clinic. Wow, someone answered and said the would be in from 11 to 1 that day for emergencies. I could not believe it. They were extremely welcoming and professional. Very affordable as well. I highly recommend them.

Everyone who works there is compassionate and kind. The care from the vet is outstanding. The weekend hours allow for emergencies and situations when u just cant wait. I believe the prices are reasonable or on the low end and the care is extremely considerate.

Not very good. I am sure they did a good job. They just werent very forthcoming about the final bill. Much like taking your car in for an oil change, and finding out they decided to put a new motor in without telling you.

Completely pathetic excuse for a vet clinic. My dog was dying and in pain yet they refused to see him w/o $300 up front. I had $100 :& begged them but they turned us away.
