I Took my Puppy here due to Vomiting & Diarrhea, He Recomended and then did X-Rays & Blood Testing. He Concluded she may have ate a foreign object but couldnt tell (Then Afterwards He said The X-Rays Will Only Show Metalic Objects) He Then went on to Discuss How IVs & Surgery May Be Needed, And sent her home with Meds to control vomiting, and Said " See how she feels tomorow, Only Time will Tell " About 3 Hours after we left smithtown animal hospital she had a bloody stool & Looked Half dead, So we rushed her to the ER, The First thing they did was a Parvo Blood Test, That showed Positive so they Put her right on Ivs & antibiodics for the night. The Worst Part is the ER Is only open at Night, So we Had to pick her up in the morning and take her to an animal hospital to continue IVs & treatment or She wouldnt survive. The Next Morning I Called His office and asked to bring her back in for treatment, After waiting on hold while she talked to the doctor, She came back on the phone to tell me they are full with dogs Boarding & have no room, And wont be able to take Her. So Not Only Did He misdiagnose my dehydrated Puppy that had only hours to live without Fluids, He Then Flat out Refused to Treat Her !!!!! And Charged me $300 doing so. Iam so disgusted with this place!! They left my puppy home to die with Parvo, One of The Worst Puppy Viruss !!!! I then wound up spending $5500 Having an ER Treat Her....

Drs. Bergendorf & Kaplan and the entire nursing staff at Smithtown Animal Hospital have served my familys needs exceptionally for close to ten years. I dont even know where to begin except with the most recent: Our daughter Ally, a wonderful & quirky pug, was exhibiting some unusual symptoms & was diagnosed quickly by Dr. Bergendorfs research & concern. Her quick diagnosis prevented horrors I dont even like considering & she now leads a healthy and active life. They are more than just a "vet" - they care abouttheir patients and their parents/masters. We are planning on moving to Nassau County in the near future but would never consider changing doctors. Its worth the trip!!

I switched to smithtown animal hospital years ago when I had an emergency situation with a Shi Tzu pup. From that day on I have been a very happy customer and have all my pets (3 dogs and 1 cat ) under their care. Dr. Kim Bergendorff is a very caring Veterinarian who takes the time to listen and care for our pets. We recently had to put one of our golden Retrievers down and I was so happy with how everyone helped us to make this time as comfortable for all of us as possible. She is very caring, as well as the front office staff.

I highly recommend Smithtown Animal Hospital. Dr. Kaplan is my vet and is really great with my cat. Hes gentle, patient and really knowledgable. Since this is my first pet, he takes the time to answer any questions that I have, even if the answers are obvious to a seasoned pet owner. Dr. Kaplan really cares about my cat and takes his time in examining him, rather than rushing in order to see his next patient. The assistants at the hospital are great as well - really nice and friendly.

Both doctors (Kaplan & Bergendorff) are extremely knowledgeable and caring. I have been a client of Smithtown Animal Hospital for the past 15 years. They have taken great care of my two greyhounds. The staff is fabulous. I have no difficulty getting an appointment. Time spent in the waiting room isnt very long at all. I sometimes board my greyhound Melanie there as well. Its the only place I will take her.

What amazing doctors! I have never met a more patient, caring, knowledgable veterinarian as Dr. Kaplan. I have used many veterinarians in the past but no one comes even close to the care my dog gets with this office. Not only is the Dr. amazing, but the whole staff is there for you with kindness and willingness to do whatever it takes to make you and your pet happy. I highly recommend Dr. Kaplan and his staff!!!

I bring Henry and Felix herer and Dr. Kaplan and Dr. Bergendorff are great. They take time to explain everything to you. They are animal lovers so it comes natural for them to treat your animal like their own and they know your pets when they come back. I love this place and so do my animals. Dr. Kim Bergendorff is the best vet Ive ever had treat my pets, and Ive had both dogs and cats for the last 25 years. She is knowledgeable and patient, remembers my animals names and their various ailments every time she sees them, and you can tell she really cares about their welfare. thanks Dr. B!!

HORRIBLE PLACE !!!!!! totally money hungry from my experiences taking my dog there for 10 years . Should have quit this office a long long time ago shame on me. They do not care about your pet just about the money they receive in their pocket P.s I quit this place today
