North Torrington Veerinary Hospital saved my dogs life! My dog has been a patient of Dr. OGrady for 10+ years. I had been very happy with Dr. OGradys expertise and services. This month, while being watched by a family member, my dog had gotten into some garbage and ate an object that obstructed the contents of his stomach from entering into his intestines. When I came back from vacation on Sunday night my dog was in bad condition. Being a Sunday I had rushed my dog to the local emergency vet hospital. The emergency vet was able to stabilize my dog enough to diagnose him with an obstruction in his stomach. They informed me that I must act fast for any chance of survival. I was told that he needed to be operated on right away. The cost of the operation and aftercare would cost approximately $5k-6k, and there was still a strong possibility that he could develop pneumonia or pancreatitis which would lead to additional cost and perhaps death. The only other option is to euthanize him. While I love my dog very much, my finances could not allow me to afford a $5k-6k operation with a grim outlook for success. The emergency vet was not willing to work with me on the price, so after a very difficult decision I decided to put my dog down. I signed all of the paperwork for the euthanization. As the doctor came in to perform the procedure, I pleaded with her to work with me on the cost because I am putting down a perfectly good and healthy dog other than the simple obstruction in his stomach. She explained to me that the price is non-negotiable and that it is high because they are an emergency vet with additional costs. Then, for the first time she informed me that my primary vet may perform the operation at a substantially lower cost. She then offered for $299 to stabilize my dog overnight so that I may bring him to North Torrington Vet in the morning. Thank God I this option was given to me and I immediately agreed to it. The next morning I picked up my dog, who looked much better, but still had the obstruction and was not able to pass a bowel movement. I was at North Torrington Vet as soon as they opened. I was immediately disheartened when I learned for the first time that Dr. OGrady had recently retired. I had felt so comfortable with him and was unsure of a new doctor especially at such a critical time in my dogs life. I was introduced to Dr. Suppo and explained my dogs situation. After reviewing my dogs records from the emergency vet and listening to my concerns, Dr. Suppo assured me that he would do the best he could to save my dog while financially staying within my means. After my initial conversation with Dr. Suppo I knew I was in just as good of hands with him as I would have been with Dr. OGrady. Dr. Suppo then reviewed our options for moving forward. While the emergency vet old me we needed to operate immediately or my dog would die, Dr. Suppo informed me that we had time on our side. Our options were to either operate immediately and remove the obstruction, or we could keep him hydrated intravenously and see if he passes the object naturally within the next day or two. We opted to go with the least invasive route and waited. By the second day of hospitalization my dog appeared healthy and had plenty of energy, but still had not had a bowel movement. Therefore, we had decided to proceed with the operation before any complications developed. I went to see my dog before the operation. While there I took my dog for a walk and he had a small bowel movement. We did not see the object that he had swallowed in his stool, but the BM was an indication that the object was no longer obstructing his digestive system. We decided to hospitalize him one more night to track his digestive system until he had a full BM. He had a BM that next day and was discharged and is now home and healthy! Dr. Suppo saved my dogs life. He truly loves animals and has the expertise that I can trust. While Dr. OGrady was a phenominal vet, his patients can feel just as assured in Dr. Suppos care.

I had loved Dr OGrady. I had to put my dog to sleep my very best friend. When I called to make the apt no one told me I wasnt seeing Dr OGrady or the woman I had seen before. I had just been in the week before with my dog and I wanted to give him at least the long holiday weekend to see if the medication would help. A friend took care of the bill to put my dog down. When I got there I asked to see what was picked out I was barely allowed to look an only after asking twice. The receptionist said its already picked out you will see it when it comes in. I said I cant see what my dogs being cremated and put in? Not one I am sorry for you loss or compassion after going there the last couple of years. I then wait for enough time to let anxiety build up to have a unknown Dr walks in doesnt introduce himself and says sign the paper. I do and he says okay to my dog and attempts to give him the needle pinches him so bad he yelps and went from being calm an peaceful to stressed and upset. I dont know the process not once was it explained to me not once was I told some stranger would put my dog down and then hurt him and make my last image of him in distress. Upon leaving I had to ask how long till I could come get his ashes bec as I said not once was I told what the process was. The same woman who didnt want to show me his tin said I dont know like 2 weeks. Again not saying sorry for you loss. NOTHING> cold hearted nothing. I will never use this office again. Now that Dr Ogrady has retired its NOTHING like it was. Horrible experience that I literally have nightmares over.

My Daschund Longhaired was very Sick. She was drooling, peeing blood throwing up blood at times. She wouldnt bark like she used to could barely eat and drink without choking for air. Took her to Dr. OGRADY and he kept her there for a few days. She had a really bad infection with stones in her bladder. She is home now and gives kisses and wags her tail at even the mention of her name. She barks and drives us crazy but we love that sound. I would never take my pet anywhere else. His understanding and care for my pet was I overwelmingly kind abs he was kind to us with our wallet as I had explained before hand about our financial status but we loved our pet.

Today, 4/19/16 I had noticed some irritation on my Great Danes paw. I immediately asked around for suggestions on where to go, as I am new to the area. I was told that North Torrington was the best to go, and I now know why. Showing up with some pictures asking if I could be seen, they saw the urgency and got me in within 15 minutes. My Great Danes temperament is all over the place, and they were so welcoming and accommodating. I couldnt of asked for a more genuine experience, and more welcoming. They are phenomenal, every person in there, and I am thankful to have found this wonderful place to bring my fur babies !
