Years ago, when ownership of a local equine vet service changed, I mentioned to my old riding instructor that I didnt like the new management. She asked me "Do you remember Carol Sabo who worked with them? She has her own service now, give her a call". I have since used Haymarket Vet Service for over 20 years and highly recommend them. They have gone out of their way for me and my horses on many occasions. Haymarkets staff of vets and vet techs are extremely knowledgeable and care deeply about the animals they treat. Between routine exams, vaccinations, wound and hoof care, caring for a blind ponys eyes, and foaling as well as, sadly, euthanasia, I have pretty much (knock on wood) used their services for everything horse related. When I went to bring my mare back from Maryland after being bred, she got a nasty cut on her rump. The local vet was in Colorado at a conference. As the cut wasnt bleeding much, I called Haymarket and told them what was going on. They listened and then, hesitantly, told me "Margie, we dont go that far in Maryland" . I laughed and said, "no, Im giving you a heads up, can you meet me at our barn in about an hour?". When we pulled up at our barn, I hadnt unloaded my mare yet when Haymarkets vet truck pulled in. Nine months later, smy mare foaled a lovely filly. Five days after giving birth, my mare became very sick and I called Haymarket again. Unfortunately, we couldnt save the mare. The vet told me how to care for my litte orphan and said that they had a pony who had raised other orphans and they brought Thumper, a lovely saint of a pony who, although she had no milk, mothered my foal until we "weaned" her several months later. I sent Thumper back to Haymarket and later heard that she was on "another job" saving someone elses foal. This spring, when Haymarket come out to give our gelding his spring shots, I was thrilled to see the same vet who gave him his foal shots arrive to care for him after 18 years! I live and work about 30 minutes from our barn. When I call Haymarket to come out to treat my horses, they are excellent about answering my questions. When they open in the morning, they encourage me to call to find out where I am on their schedule. They know to give me a heads up when they are about an hour from arriving so I have time to get to the barn and bring the horse(s) in. I highly recommend Haymarket Equine Vet Service.

Absolutely love Haymarket Vet! I recently got a warmblood who had been Amish prior and his health history was a mystery. He has now had everything routine and one emergency visit due to abnormal behavior, we have seen Dr. Alonge and Dr. Cilinski both of their techs were amazing too! My boy was so relaxed and must have felt secure each time because he was reactive but not overreactive... mostly he reacted to teeth floating but dr alonge assured me he was being good in comparison to most horses... thanks guys for making him feel safe! and I absolutely love the way they care for the horses. My boy is packing on his weight and looking amazing. Trooper will see you guys in the Fall! :) thanks again for everything!

Disappointed with incidence of releasing my VCPR information without my consent. Ethically, the information within veterinary medical records is considered privileged and confidential. It must not be released except as required or allowed by law, or by consent of the owner of the patient. When the information is incorrect it can be especially harmful to release it. At least one vet at this clinic is not following basic Principles of Veterinary Medical Ethics of the AVMA

Haymarket Vet Service is wonderful to work with. They always call to followup after every visit. They are punctual and I never feel like they are rushing through the appointment. They answer every question I ask and even if it is not relevant to the appointment, they still take the time to discuss anything that I may have questions about.

Love Dr Sabo and her practice! Ive been using her since she was with deepwood back in the 90s. Top quality vet care with a compassionate staff. I love the mobile digital Xray and the digital ultrasound they keep on the trucks. All the diagnostic tools you need in one place without needing a referral or having to reschedule another appointment.

Twice I have had an emergency which required a rapid response. Both times, Haymarket Equine has been rapid and responsible. I am most impressed with the treatment (even if it meant relieving the pain and allowing the horse to die) and the compassion shown by the vets and their assistants.

I would only use Haymarket Vet in an emergency or for vaccinations. They seem to take advantage of the situation. I would rather have my vet be honest and more conservative with treatment. They seem to treat the worst case scenario first even if the problem is likely something else.

My horses were seen by Dr. Alonge and her assistant Jessica. They answered any questions I had, were very gently with my two Thoroughbreds, and did a great job. They arrived on time. The office staff is great too when need to make or edit appointments.

I have mixed opinions on Haymarket. I think it really depends on the vet you get. For basic health care and shots theyre fine. But anything on lameness issues I wouldnt go with them, Id go with Piedmont Equine Services.
