I have been going to Old Mill for about 7 years. If I could, I would give Old Mill 5 plus stars. Ive tried a couple of the other "popular" vet practices in the area, but no one comes close to Old Mill. Their staff treats you and your pet like family. Their prices are comparable to the other veterinarian practices that dont take short cuts in care. I like the fact that their staff is very stable (that alone speaks volumes), which provides consistency in care. My pets usually see Dr. Jessica Plant who is the most sincere, caring, professional veterinarian you could possibly entrust with your pets life. She was on the floor playing with one of my dogs making him feel comfortable before surgery. When one of my nearly 15 year old Labs recently had to be euthanized, I felt Dr. Plant and the entire Old Mill staff experienced the loss as much as I did. My Labs have lived a healthy, quality life because of Dr. Plants solid advice and vigilance in care. I am a high maintenance client who likes to know what my pets options for care are and I like to be informed of new developments (vaccines, medications, treatments). They always take the time to answer my questions and I dont feel pushed into taking a treatment I dont want. They always keep your pets best interest in mind. I have never had any problems making an appointment to see my favorite vet. However, if that veterinarian isnt available, I feel totally comfortable seeing any of the other four vets there - they are all wonderful!! Old Mill may not have won "The Best of Loudoun County" yet, but THEY ARE Loudoun Countys best kept secret! If you want your pet to be given the highest quality of care and want them to be treated like family take them to Old Mill.

We’ve been coming here for years…. And today is the LAST day for that. First, I’m tired of paying too much just because they are conveniently located next to the kennel we used, but we’ve always been ok with it because it was so convenient. But todays issue is that we have a pug with an eye problem that will require she has eye drops every day for the rest of her life (unless we have the eye removed) because she does not produce tears. Her eyes get very scabbed over and infected when she does not have drops every day. We get the meds (at about $50 a pop!) just about every month or so. I called today to ask for our usual refill and was told that they would not give it to us unless I bring her in first. (?) I told them there was nothing on the bottle saying no refills after a certain date and that I couldn’t bring her in for the next two weeks, could they just give me enough to get us through an appointment in just two weeks? “No.” I had no heads up. Her meds just ran out! The offered for me to bring her in and leave her… but that is super stressful for her AND they also were going to CHARGE me to do that. I feel like this is their fault for not telling me that I couldn’t refill again in advance so I could plan for it and make sure I could bring her back BEFORE we ran out. Now, if I have to take her to a vet, it is going to be to a new vet that tells me when my dogs meds can and can’t be refilled so I can make sure she doesn’t suffer as a result of the vet not sharing this info in advance. I’m also going to start looking at better kennels since the only reason I was tied to this so-so kennel was because of the vet/kennel combo. If this is the way they care for dogs… and the owners… PASS.

I have used Old Mill Kennel multiple times a year for 10 years for two very different dogs with very different personalities. Our first dog (who has now passed away from old age) was an Alaskan Malamute - with a heavy fur coat that was always in beautiful condition when we picked him up. My current dog is a goofy mutt adopted from a rescue group who has major speraration anxiety if I leave him at home, but he is always happy and healthy when I pick him up from Old Mill. The kennel personnel are organized and all seem to truly love animals. Many of the employees have been at the kennel as long as I have been using it which I believe is good indication of a well-run business. Im so sorry to hear about the unfortunate experiences a few individuals had at the kennel via some of the other postings, but based on everything I have seen when dropping off and picking up my dogs over the years, these are the unfortunate exceptions. (I do know that some animals do not do well with boarding - I have a friend whose dog died at a different kennel - basically from the shock of being boarded. My dog actually prefers being boarded to being home without us.)

I do not recommend this business. We took our dog in for a haircut and got a call to pick up our dead dog! Thanks a lot! Appreciate the hospitality by sending us a bill with the pharmaceuticals you used to put him to sleep and charge $$$ to rescusitate! unbelievable! First of all we told them not to RESCUSITATE if anything happens. Two, not to give him a flu shot before his haircut and what do you do?? Youre the ones who got the drugs mixed up! clueless...this place is a joke and sloppy. Save a life by not going to this place.

Not only was our pet injured there at Old Mill but they charged us to treat her & never apologized. She has never been the same since. They have the Vet associated with this kennel so that they make money when they neglect their animals. This experience was NOT worth it; you get what you pay for. We did complain but they strong armed us into saying it was the dogs fault that she was injured. Go figure.

We have been going here for over sixteen years. They are the nicest people ever. Their doctors are very competent and compassionate. Above all, I appreciate that I dont get price gauged. They are very conservative with their care approach and only recommend things that are needed. (Very much UNLIKE that other place in Ashburn that we used to go to.) I would recommend 100% percent!

Seriously amazing staff - everyone Ive encountered is by far the best. I will drive 20 minutes to bring my dog here. The staff is all always helpful, and patient with my crazy neuroses regarding my dog, and they were able to diagnose a simple problem that saved me thousands in endless tests that I would have willingly run because my dog was in pain.
